Georgina Garrett #2
Set in the 1930's in Battersea. Georgina is the new boss of the Battersea gang, but not everyone is happy that she is, especially with her being a young woman. She faces many challenges, some from her own men, but when she punches one of them in the face, it's not long until the men are behind her. Rival gangs are trying to muscle in on her turf and her dad's still coming home drunk. Georgina has a lot to contend with.
First off, I loved Trickster, the first book in this series. How was the author going to top that one? Well she has, and she's done a marvellous job too. I was hooked from the first page. I couldn't and didn't want to put it down. There a lot packed into this book, but not so much that you forget what's happening, it's just the right mix. Theres also some sadness. Georgina is ruthless when she needs to be, she also cares very deeply about her friends and family. This is shaping up to be a fantastic series. I don't k ow how Sam Michaels will top this book, ut I'm sure she will. I cant wait to get my hands on a copy if the next book. I highly recommend this book, but if you haven't already read Trickster, read that first, you won't be disappointed.
I would like to thank Netgalley, Aria and the author Sam Michaels for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Grittier, gutsier, gangbuster!
Georgina Garrett is back.
It’s time for the Maids of Battersea to stand up against the town goons and Georgina Garrett is the only one tough enough to take on the lead. She has plans to take over running Billy’s business - something no man will ever take seriously, never mind accept.
Georgina is as sharp and savvy as she is beautiful and knows exactly how to deal with those who question her authority – with an iron fist. Her retributions are doled out to her betrayers as generously as she shows her gratitude to those who are loyal, and she soon shows who is the boss.
With characters both likable and detestable but completely engaging, and an action-packed storyline set in the heart of the 1930’s mobster era, Sam Michaels delivers a compelling, thrilling page-turner.
I can’t wait to read more of Georgina!
Thank you to NetGalley and Aria for the read of Sam Michaels’, Rivals.
Opinions expressed are my own.
First book I read in this series and won't surely be the last as it's gripping and entertaining.
I loved the well developed cast of characters, the engrossing plot and the setting.
I look forward to reading other books by this author.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
An excellent book about Georgina Garrett and how she takes control of the streets of Battersea, not everyone likes a woman being in charge but tough she isn't going anywhere. When people she cares for start getting hurt the Garrett name will be one that puts the fear of god into people.5*
What an accomplished author Sam Michaels is turning out to be. With her debut crime thriller Trickster and now to the follow up Rivals, which is outstanding. The continuing story of Georgina Garrett who has now become the ruling boss of Battersea. Many tough times follow with all the villains wanting to take over. They figure it will be easy pickings as she is a woman, but they are in for a shock. This is a fast paced crime thriller as Georgina has to keep her turf and protect the ones closest to her.. She is fearsome and fearless, with her family and herself threatened she has to find a way to convince her rivals that she is not a woman to be messed with. The book is full of excellent characters, not too many where you have to keep going back sorting out who is who, but characters you connect with.. This book left me quite exhausted and you find yourself turning the pages so quickly, longing to know what happens next, yet not wanting to finish it. I highly recommend this book.
The streets of Battersea has got one leader
She’s called Georgina Garrett
The Garrett name is feared from every one
Life in Battersea will change fore ever
I had an ARC
Having read the first book in the series I couldn't wait to read Rival's, what an addictive read, this book will have you gripped as it did me
Thank you to Net Galley for permission to read this book. Absolutely loved it and although it has been a while since I read the first book I was hooked straight back in quite easily with all the familiar characters. I found it a very absorbing and gripping read and would highly recommend.
This ARC was courtesy of netgalley - all thoughts and opinions are mine and unbiased
I also post to Amazon, goodreads, kobo and B&N
Loved this - a great page turner, couldn't put down
Well written - I loved the character development
Highly recommend this - a great read
What a great book. I have read many books that are similar to this but this one is much superior
It grabbed my attention from the first page and kept it until the very end
I cannot express how much i enjoyed reading 'Rivals'. What a page turner! Despite being the new Boss and what actions she took against rival gangs, i really did like her character. She not only had her ruthless side, but she also had her caring side where her friends and family were concerned. I am pleased that the ending turned out the way it did. I am not going to write what the story is about as i prefer one to read the book for themselves, but i do highly recommend.
O Sam Michaels you've done it again!!! Absolutely beyond brilliant!!!
Georgina Garrett has, against all the odds for a female, become the head of the most powerful Battersea gang!! She's overcome all the rough odds to do it. And with her father taking to the bottle she's on her own except for her Nan and her friends. But nothing successful ever comes easy and she has her fair share of rough rides to battle!! I can't wait for the next one!! Deserves way more than five stars!!
Brilliant loved the story line and finding out about georges next chapter I love that lash came back for her but I really wanted her to end up with dagid
Wow just wow! I couldn't out this book down at all! It was gritty and dark but also a lot of love at the same time. Hope there's another because I can't wait to see what happens next
