I had a really difficult time getting into this and following along with all of the story lines and characters.
I can't say I'm looking forward to reading more - except that more time spent with fewer characters would definitely be easier to follow and enjoy.

It was well-written and had an interesting concept and a large cast of complex characters.

Overall not a bad set of stories. Each was quite good with interesting plots and characters. Good job on the writing.

This is a hard review for me to write because I struggled to keep up with the story but also was intrigued as to where it was going. This is likely because it told the many different stories at once ad I was struggling to make sense of it. at about 50% of the way, I finally was able to see where this was going.

This book is just an introduction about how the characters all became part of The Castle. In future books, these individual characters will get their own story that ties them together with what this book was setting up. Once I realized that I liked the concept more. The stories will be written by many different authors.

However, that still didn't stop me from struggling with this story. I worry that other readers might have the same problem which would be a shame because I can REALLy see the potential here. I will definitely look for more of this in the future. There were definitely some characters that piqued my interest more than others.

This is a must read book.
I really stay away from stories written by multiple authors but the blurb of this book had me so curious and I needed to read it.
Interesting plot and more interesting characters. I need to read the stories of each one of the boys because I’m sure we’re in for a ride.

(My review of Kings of the Castle is from a download courtesy of Netgalley).
Normally I stay away from novels featuring multiple authors collaborating to tell a story - multiple as in more than two co-writers - because I sometimes get lost and confused halfway through the story line.
This was not the case with Kings of the Castle by bestselling authors Naleighno Kai and S. L. Jennings. They are joined by fellow bestselling authors, Martha Kennerson, Lisa Watson, J. L. Campbell, Janice M. Allen, London St. Charles, Karen D. Bradley and Marza' Scott. Together, these talented authors wrote what is a stand alone introduction novel of handsome, strong, confident, sexy gentlemen who are part of a band of brothers established and nurtured by the founder of, the Castle. The Castle, originally created for humanitarian reasons and to save troubled boys from making fatal choices, is now in jeopardy after an assassination attempt against the founder. Once boys, the men reunite to save their founder and maintain the Castle at all costs. These men throw twists to the meaning of protect and serve. Kings of the Castle takes place across the world with a base in Chicago and it's various communities. Each man represents their community: Grant Khambrel, King of Lincoln Park; Kaleb Valentine, King of South Shore; Daron Kincaid, King of Morgan Park; Jai, King of Devon; Mariano "Reno" DeLuca, King of Chatham, ;Dwayne Harper, King of Lawndale; Shaz Bostwick, King of Evanston and Alejandro "Dro" Reyes, King of Hyde Park. These men represent hard and the authors behind their stories do great jobs of showing me.
I dove into Kings of the Castle during a family health situation that, like in the story line, included long hours of waiting for answers and test results. I could not put Kings of the Castle down, though at times I had to. But I immediately picked up from where I left off.
Each gentleman's story was perfectly aligned with the novel's theme. The flow of the chapters never broke away from the main events and I did not lose focus. I was able to keep up with each character and that is a plus regarding multiple authors and one novel.
Here's the best part. I said Kings of the Castle was an introduction of these men. Well, each King will have a stand-alone book by each author involved in this series. I can't wait for the books to come out, and even better, you won't have to read them in order. You can pick and choose a book without frustration and fear of missing out on something.
Kings of the Castle is an exciting prelude to wanting to know more about these Kings. And you will want to know more. Trust me.

Pretty good book. A little hard to get into at first with all the moving around of the characters. Like you would jump from one to the next. However when you got it sorted out on who was who it flowed easier.
