This book explores how to build your resilience within the workplace but there are skills that can be translated into other areas of life too. The book doesn't have to be read cover to cover as each chapter is a stand alone (although reading all of the chapters will obviously offer a more comprehensive insight into resilience and bouncing back). There are a range of exercises throughout the book which are really useful for the reader to stop, reflect on what they're reading and how it relates to them.
I was really surprised to finish the first chapter and realize that everything about failing fast (the first part of the subtitle) was completely over. Overall, this is the kind of self help book that I really enjoy. More science than story, really well researched with the facts to back up all the reasons Kahn was suggesting certain ways to deal with problems at work.
For self-help junkies, there aren't a ton of new ways to cope but Kahn has put them together in a readable and usable manner.

Opinions are my own
I enjoyed reading this book which has come at the right time for me in my career. Recognising the time to make a change can be very difficult, particularly when you are stressed out and overly involved with a toxic workplace. Developing resilience is an excellent first step, but sometimes you do have to just draw a line and move on. This book helped me to recognise that I was at that stage. Since leaving my old job, I feel that my resilience has bounced back. I will definitely revisit this book in the future.
