I love time travel books! This one was not an exception!
Pages turned very fast here due to intense plot and romance theme.
Writing kept me on my toes because the story flew beautifully here from the beginning to the end.
I highly recommend this book because it will leave you mesmerized and feeling fluffy.

A very nice book by Ava Douglan. I’ve never read a book by this author before so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the story and the characters.

This author is new to me but I so enjoyed her book. For a time travel story it is unique. Jack Ellison Wiles is a professor at a college and teaches about the Civil War. His Uncle Charlie died and he has to do something with it. His Uncle left him something somewhere in the store but he only left a vague clue.
Benetta (Ben) Tolland was a Civil War soldier, who somehow had been moved into this strange place.
At seeing Jack, she was frightened and bought up her musket. Anyway, she shot him with it. He was very surprised. There were things that they could teach each other.
I loved the tale and enjoy the history of the Civil War. You got a glimpse of that turmoiled filled time.
The characters were wonderful and they gave each other their knowledge and kindness. I very highly recommend this book especially if you need your curiosity satisfied.
I received this ARC from Net Galley and voluntarily reviewed it and loved it.

I’m a sucker for time-travels and I admit I didn’t read the synopsis entirely before asking for the book on Netgalley. In doing so I didn’t know beforehand the big surprise that is the heroine’s origin and I only appreciated the discovery more! Nice basic idea.

Benetta is a strong heroine, decided to go back to her time of which she was taken on the eve of an important battle, and she doesn’t believe the hero when he discovers she comes from a book. She’s convinced what she’s learn in the future can help her change some things once back, and if she feels nascent feelings for the hero she wants to put her duty toward her country and her fellow soldiers before. I liked seeing her discover modern utilities and turns of phrases, the fish-out-of-water side being one of the features I love the most in a TT when it’s well done.

Jack is a hero focused on his professional progress, he’s doing his most to present an acceptable profile for the university where he seeks a position, even if his main adversary doesn’t hesitate to putting back out (or making up) some baggage to bring him down. He’s become kind of jaded by life, he doesn’t believe in love – and I think that’s why his uncle promised him there was a treasure worthy of a Vanderbilt in the library. At first Jack is only attracted by Benetta’s historical side, as he’s passionate for the American Civil War in general and especially the battle to which Benetta wants to go back to. But little by little his nascent feelings have him put into perspective what he wants in his life.

Between them the feelings are slow to form, beginning by distrust before they tame and then trust each other. We don’t have a passionate story but we believe in what they feel without trouble. The story in itself has a calm rhythm, we can’t say it’s really grabbing, but it’s likeable, comfortable even, with a bit of a tale side very pleasant. I liked how some details fit together near the end, I didn’t really agree with a special point in the end that I found illogical as the heroine comes from a book.

I also found too bad the epilogue scene isn’t in the book but only downloadable as a bonus on the authors’ website, but perhaps the idea of it came after putting the book up for sale. The fact remains that you mustn’t hesitate reading it as it ends nicely the story. All in all a pleasant story with which I had a good reading time.

Jack has been busy making a name for himself in the world of academia. But when his uncle dies, he is forced to take a step back from it to deal with his uncles bookstore. But before he can sell it, he must find the special gift his uncle left him. While wondering through the stacks one day, he is surprised by the appearance of a woman in a civil war uniform. He doesn't know what to think when the enactor shoots him with her musket.

Benetta aka Ben, doesn't know what to think when she suddenly finds herself in a book shop with a stranger that is dressed funny. She soon realizes that she has travel through time. While she and Jack try to find a way to get her back to where she is needed, they grow closer to one another.

Can these time-crossed lovers get their HEA?

I always love a good time travel and this one was different than most, so it was even more intriguing! I really liked watching Jack and Ben try to find how to get Ben back to her time and watching them fall in love even though neither was looking for it. This is my first book by Douglan and I can't wait to read more!
