The author here has traced Blues music to Chicago and he gives you a history of the music from the fields, homes, even some choices, and of course halls or places where people gather at night to play music. How all of the different styles blended together to make the blues. Then how the music moved from the Delta up to Chicago. That is where real people know it as Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Little Walter and so many many others. The author tries to put all of these people and even the different sounds of the blues together. The music of Muddy Waters is different than the music of Howlin Wolf both are really good and I can tell a difference both tell a story yet the way they deliver the music is different and will touch you inside differently.
The author moves from these people to others of the blues and then to some of the newer artists Shamika Copland who has a really good voice and I like her music as well. You still get Buddy Guy who is the top of Chicago blues now so the author really does do a good job at getting or trying to get most of the artists. A good book.

Great book, highly recommended for fans of the blues, or anyone who likes to read books related to music, period.
