In their book Marriage Triggers: Exchanging Spouses' Angry Reactions for Gentle Biblical Responses, authors Amber Lia and Guy Lia offer couples a journey to a healthier and happier marriage. They help husbands and wives identify issues that trigger anger and disagreements so they can learn to act and react in ways consistent with God's Word. Having identified 31 of the most common "triggers" in marriages, the Lias share practical, biblical tips for learning to respond with gentleness and love. The Lias also try to get readers to see these issues as opportunities for growth instead of opportunities for conflict. Some of the issues included in Marriage Triggers include busyness, in-laws, different upbringings, past wounds, sickness, and parenting differences. Drawing from their own experiences and the experiences of others, the Lias help readers see how they can learn to respond differently--with gentleness and respect--rather than continue the old, negative cycles of anger and conflict. Each of the 31 readings also includes practical, scriptural applications and a prayer to help readers invite God into their lives. Marriage Triggers is a highly practical book that I would recommend whether your're newly married or you've been married a while. With an open heart and a prayerful spirit, you just might find yourself and your marriage transformed.
