Wow! What a ride this book took me on. I had a hard time putting The One Night Stand down, and I didn’t see any of the twists coming. Very well done by Carissa Lynch!
I received an advance copy. All thoughts are my own.
The One Night Stand is fast-paced, packed with secrets and fraught relationships and really doesn't give you the chance to try and figure it out for yourself! I finished this book in less than 24 hours; it's an easy little read that spends little time setting the scene. Instead, Ivy's secrets are revealed through short punchy chapters set in the "before" and the "now" and cover everything from a cheating ex-husband and his new perfect wife, a fraught relationship with her daughter, a deceased child, online dating, alcohol abuse, underage sexting, murder, bullying, stalking, sketchy teenage memories... I could go on! The One Night Stand throws up lots of questions about Ivy and what exactly has happened to her. I did guess the real culprit at one point but couldn't justify why I thought it. Further revelations in the book explained why the culprit did what they did but it felt a bit rushed and not particularly well thought through. At first I felt like this would be a guaranteed 4-star read for me but what was intriguing to start with, got a little bit too much too quickly. Saying that, The One Night Stand is still enjoyable and an easy, scandal-filled little read.
Thank you to NetGalley, Carissa Ann Lynch and the publisher for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a really enjoyable quick read. Really fast paced and kept you wondering what the hell was going on. Maybe not the most believable ending but certainly entertaining

The One Night Stand Review
Thank you to Netgalley and One More Chapter for a copy of this title in exchange for an honest review.
This one was a really fun read. It had twists and turns and moments that left me on edge waiting to see why happened next. Told on 3 different time period which I really enjoyed. It was a fun writing style that flowed well.
Synopsis:
A night she won’t forget…
When single mum Ivy wakes up to a complete stranger lying next to her, she knows her one-night stand hook-ups have to stop. The encounters mean nothing to Ivy, but for just a short time, they make her forget her own terrible life.
A murder she can’t remember
But then Ivy discovers the stranger in her bed has been stabbed to death, and she is covered in his blood…except Ivy has no recollection of bringing this man home. Could she have killed him?
As she tries to piece together what happened last night, Ivy’s own past returns to haunt her. And secrets can’t stay hidden forever…
Ivy wakes up when her daughter yells at her wanting to know who the man is in her mother's bed. Problem is ... Ivy has never seen this man before .. and he refuses to wake up. Throwing the covers off she notices the man is lying in a pool of blood .. and it's evident he was stabbed to death.
She was drinking the night before, but surely she would remember if she had done this. And where's the knife? Looking around and then under the bed, she finds something much, much worse....
There's another dead man under her bed ... and this one is someone she knows.
This is a well written mystery/crime fiction which is set in three different times ... before the stabbing, after the stabbing, and when she takes us back to her schoolgirl days. Ivy has dangerous secrets ... and someone has discovered what those secrets are. The characters are deftly drawn, and I have to admit my favorite is Fran, the elderly neighbor lady.
The plot is nicely paced, suspense is high from the very first, and the ending was surprising and unpredictable.
Many thanks to the author / One More Chapter / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction/mystery. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
With thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the arc, which I have enjoyed reading.
Whilst I enjoyed reading this book and it was easy to read, it wasn’t a riveting read. Two young girls kill when they are teenagers and years later dead bodies pile up in the home of one of the women. It could be me and maybe other readers will appreciate the book more.
I finished The One Night Stand by Carissa Ann Lynch in only two days - that’s how addicting this book was! Thank you @netgalley, @harpercollinsuk, and @onemorechapterhc for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book starts off with Ivy waking up next to a man in her bed that she has no recollection of ever meeting after what looks like was a one night stand. The man is dead and his body shows evidence of a stab wound. The story centers around Ivy trying to exonerate herself of this crime by figuring out what led to this predicament she is now in. We are taken through the past to the present in order to get a full understanding of all the pieces in the puzzle.
This book was a light and easy read, so if you’re into quick but highly addictive psychological thrillers then this book is definitely something you’ll enjoy. This is one of those books that are full of endless cliffhangers and you can’t help flipping through the pages devouring the book in anticipation of how everything will come together in the end. I enjoyed the fact that although this was a quick read, the characters and the dialogue were quite well-written and relatable. I look forward to checking out more of Carissa Ann Lynch’s work!
I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. At first I kept thinking I wouldn't because it seemed so predictable. But as I kept reading, I found myself unable to put it down. I liked how the author went back and further between different times as a way for the reader to put the pieces together. There was a great flow in the way she did it and that is very important to me when i am reading a book like that. I enjoyed the main character very much as I could somewhat relate to her as a woman. That actually rarely happens for me when I read a book, so that added an extra level of enjoyment for me. That ending though...all I can say is WOW!! I never saw it coming. The author did an excellent job of keeping the secret until the end, which is another thing I find rare when I read a book. Overall, this was a very enjoyable and fast read. I would definitely recommend this book.
Wow! I didn’t see tha final twist coming at all, which was great! This was a great thriller and just when I thought I knew how things were going to turn out there was a complete 360 plot twist. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free copy in exchange for review.
LOVED this. This was the first book I read from Lynch & wont be the last.
My attention was grabbed from page one & the writer ensured my attention never was lost.
This was a dnf for me. The writing style was eh and right when I started reading I wasn’t feeling it.
Exciting read. The book was great. It was well written. Easy to read and flowed well. The storyline was funny. Not in a fun way but to find yourself in that predicament. Not what you would wasn’t.
This is a super fast, well paced, relatively short book that certainly packs a punch! I’m officially a fan girl of Lynch loving her writing style and her psychopathic mind. Poor Ivy can’t catch a break, her husband left her, her teenage daughter hates her, so thank god she had at least one friend, Pam. Plus she has a bad secret in her past as we find out in the now, recent past, and teenage years. Oh, sorry , forgot to mention, ivy finds a dead body in her bed on the first page of this book....
Oh man the twist!! I never saw it coming I seriously expected the past to come and bite Ivy in the butt! I really enjoyed the realism of the whole split house aspect, like it shows some of the real emotions of a teenager in that situation. This one was like a slow burn, like building up to the twist and i seriously predicted what was going to happen but once that twist happened OMG! The killer was the last person i expected!!! Definitely one i recommend!!!
Netgalley and Harper Collins provided this copy for an honest review. Thank you.
This book was built on an interesting premise, where a single mother wakes up with a dead stranger in her bed and no memory of how he got there or how he came to be dead. The explanation of what happened was a little far-fetched but I suppose that is meant to be the case with thrillers. This wasn't a ground breaking novel, but it was good enough entertainment to pass time on a flight. Overall, a short but entertaining read.
Thanks to Netgalley, Harper Collins UK and One More Chapter for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Divorced mother of a teenager, Ivy wakes up with a strange man in her bed and when she tries to get him to leave, she realizes he is dead, but she has no recollection of what happened the night before.
3.5 stars.
This was a very quick read that sort of went off in a different direction than I had expected. It was overall a decent read with a fairly surprising ending. This was my second book from this author and I would probably read more.
OMG Carissa Lynch ROCKS ❤ and this book blew my mind it was sssooo freaking amazing
This authors writing pulls you in and holds you till the very last page
A definite must read ❤❤❤
No spoilers! Ivy's got a secret (surprise!) and when she is woken up by her typically hateful teenage daughter, who is disgusted that there's a strange man in her bed, she's shocked to find that that man, who she doesn't remember, is, um, dead. Dead dead dead. Oh, and there's another dead man under her bed. Told in three time frames (but the most important are 1993 and the general present) her story will wiggle out slowly (well, not that slowly because this is a page turner). While this does get a tad implausible at times, it's a very good read. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
Having previously read Without a Trace by Carissa Ann Lynch, I jumped at the opportunity to read her latest novel, The One Night Stand. I am so pleased I did as there were no disappointments here!
Divorced mum Ivy is struggling with raising her teenage daughter, Delaney. Ivy's life completely changed after Delaney's dad found a younger, better-looking wife, called Sam. According to Delaney, Sam - her new step-mum - can do everything better than Ivy. And so Ivy, with Delaney frequently staying at her dad's house, and encouraged by her friends, decides to try online dating. When Ivy wakes up with a complete stranger lying next to her, she knows her one-night stands will have to stop. Ivy discovers the stranger in her bed has been stabbed to death, and she is covered in his blood, but Ivy has no recollection of bringing this man home. Did she kill him? As she tries to fill in the blanks as to exactly what happened, Ivy’s own past returns to torment her. And secrets can’t stay hidden forever...
Carissa Ann Lynch delivers an unrestrained story with a compelling blend of foreboding, harboured secrets, suspense and long-buried memories. The One Night Stand is beautifully plotted, a cracking story and a book I revelled in all the way through. The author did a brilliant job of drawing me into the plot, capturing and commanding my attention with her superbly drawn characters and their secrets, while adding in clever twists. It brought no let-downs and everything was wrapped up in the satisfying finale.
A riveting, stellar and exemplary novel that I'm delighted to recommend to all thriller lovers.
I received a complimentary digital copy of this novel, at my request, from One More Chapter via NetGalley and this review is my own unbiased opinion.
