A bit far fetched but certainly interested me enough to finish it. Decent ending, decent mystery. The ending, while pleasing, was nonetheless a bit hard to swallow. Recommend mildly.
I enjoyed this book. It was thrilling and suspenseful and made me want to keep reading to see what happens. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that likes domestic thrillers/suspense.
Thanks Netgalley for a copy of this ARC. Earlier this year I stumbled across a previous book by this author and I was instantly hooked on her engaging writing style that draws you in and keeps the pages turning. I am a huge fan of books that jump right in and keep the thrills going and I can promise you that she absolutely does. As we alternate between past and present with different character POV, I wondered who they all were and how it would all come together as it flowed seamlessly along. It was a thrill of a ride and I read it within hours of receiving it. Grab this book and make sure that you grab all her previous books as well, this is one suspense writer you do not want to miss.
The book starts off with Ivy waking up to a one night stand in the bed beside her...one that won't wake up because he isn't among the living anymore. But who is he? And why can't she remember anything from the night before? Rather than calling the cops, for reasons we don't know yet, she sets off to figure out what really happened. But is it her past threatening her or is it her present. Maybe it's a combo of both. What you will find out you won't guess until the very twisty and shocking ending.
i so enjoyed this book Ivy wakes up with a man in her bed but then finds he is dead and another body under the bed she is trying to bring up her daughter as her ex got a new women will say no more a brilliant read
I think that this was a really good story and it was one that pushed me a little out of my comfort zone as it is a genre that I would not really read.

I thought that it was well written and well developed. I'm personally not too much of a fan of "before and now" types of books but it did work for who this one was told.
I thought that the characters were well developed and I loved the interaction - that really made the book for me.
It is 4 stars from me for this one, I thought it was a really good psychological thriller and I loved the suspense that the author had with the plot. Highly recommended - this is definitely one where you need to read the book and make up your own mind!!
You can give it a go.
Ivy is living with her daughter, seperated from her husband Michael. Her daughter, Delaney is moody and is not so close with her mom. One day ivy wakes up and find two dead bodies one on the bed beside her and the other under the bed. Who killed them?
Told from a single POV but with different time zones, the story is ok. Although I couldn't connect with any of the characters. I didn't feel the urge to find out about the killer.
Thanks to NetGalley and One More Chapter for an advance copy.
This book kept me guessing from start to finish and took me a few days to read. If I had more spare time, I would’ve sped through it in less time. It starts with the main character Ivy, who wakes up to a stranger in her bed. Her daughter walks in and upon noticing, expresses disgust towards Ivy and storms out. After pulling herself out of bed, she inspects then man lying in the bed because he doesn’t respond to her requests to leave. She then realizes the man is dead and begins to panic, wondering how on earth is she going to deal with this without getting in trouble with the law. As the story progresses, it switches between recent past (before) and present (now). Then halfway through, it switches back into 1993 with POV from a girl named Andrea then back to the before and now POV from Ivy. At first I wondered how it was relevant, but as I kept reading it made more sense. I did not want to reveal any spoilers. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. I was pulling for Ivy to get through the story safely and some of the characters were annoying at times, like her daughter and her best friend (who isn’t all that she appears to be). It was also interesting reading about Ivy’s dating life and I liked how the author infused some humor into what was a dark story for most part. I received an advanced copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book sparked a lot of conversations with my colleagues. I went into work and told them about the book I started reading and gave them a quick background of the first couple chapters. Everyday they were asking for updates on what was happening. I will say, I wasn’t able to see where this book was going, but it kept me interested enough that I wanted to find out.
It is a book I’d recommend to others for a quick mystery read which is unlike others I tend to read.

There were some twists, many too many twists, and I literally never knew what was coming, but it never truly settled into any particular narrative. Just a three.
It took me a bit to fully get into the story. I wasn’t understanding where and how everything fit together. The pieces were all over the place. The story changes between past, before, and present. I was intrigued by the events happening and hoped the story would pick up and even out. The past of Andrea and Philomena was a nice touch! I think that was my favorite part of the book. It eventually all comes together with twists and turns you don’t see coming. Although the book was a good read, I don’t know how I felt about the ending. That’s more of a personal preference than anything the author did.
This is a quick and good read. This is the second book by this author and I look forward to reading more of her work. I give this 3 stars.
Loved, loved, loved! Absolutely unputdownable. I found myself trying to read multiple, but only being able to focus on this one! Chilling, thrilling, and full of twists and turns that turns into gasping shocks! Lynch is an author to watch, especially if you love thrillers that leave you breathless and chilled! I highly, highly recommend this one! What would you do if you woke up to a dead body next to you and no memory of him at all??!
I’ll make sure to buzz it up on all the different platforms!
What did I just read?? I never expected the story to take so many twists and turns. I would give it 3.5 stars. The ending felt rushed, especially about the truth on who was behind everything and the reasons for the dead guy in Ivy's bed. I enjoyed the book and definitely kept me guessing. The characters were CRAZY!!! Philomena and Andrea's story line was just unexpected. I thought the book was going to be about waking up to a dead body in your bed after a bad decision on a a dating website, but it was so much more. Ivy definitely got a lot of use from her dating profile. Wasn't she scared about inviting all those strange men to her house? Delaney acted like the usually teenage girl, full of attitude and hatred for her mother. It's a great mystery/suspense. I can't imagine all the planning that went into this. I never suspected who was involved.
Definitely recommend the book. It's a quick read and will definitely keep you guessing. I look forward to reading more books by the author. "Without A Trace" is still my favorite.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
The One Night Stand by Carissa Ann Lynch is another dark and twisty thriller from an author who has become a fast favourite of mine. This is a quick, intense read that pulled me in from the very start, and I devoured it in a single session.
Ivy wakes up to her teenage daughter's disgusted observation that there is a stranger in her bed. Having no idea as to the identity of said stranger, Ivy cannot imagine that she has engaged in a one night stand while wearing her grubbiest nightgown. But when further investigation reveals that the unknown man in her bed is, in fact, a corpse, Ivy cannot say with any certainty that she is not responsible for his murder.
Told from the alternating timelines of 'Now' and 'Before', Ivy must reconcile her present circumstances with the secrets she thought she had buried forever. This is a short, sharp read that will hold on tightly until all is revealed.
Many thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for this ARC.
Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. I like the dynamics of mother and daughter as teenage girls can be a handful! I also really liked how the ex and the new wife joined together to solve problems. My jaw dropped a couple times in this book when secrets came into the open. I did feel some parts were just not believable-how long can a body be in one's room and no one will notice the smell? overall, good book.
I'm on the fence with this book. Some of her books I absolutely love and others I can't get into. This book had a lot of wows I didn't see coming with the characters. At first i didn't think it flowed smoothly, but once a little more became clear about her past, it made more sense. Lies, betrayal, adultery, it's all there!
The One Night Stand by author Carissa Ann Lynch is a mystery packed with thrill! One night stand gone horribly wrong.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This thriller was so good. I loved the characters and their reactions to the things happening around them made the story so engrossing. It kept me so invested in what would happen in the end and made the book so much more enjoyable when the plot twists were revealed.
I would recommend this book if you like an engaging thriller.
