I loved the first two installments of this series. But by the fourth book, its starting to get cheesy. I don't think I will continue with this series.
I really liked the book ! The main character was liakable and I loved the plot ,I wish it was longer tho ,to enjoy it a little bit more
I love and adored the Gabriel books. Gabriel's Promise was a nice little cherry on the top of this series.
If you were invested in the couple and want to get a peek at what their lives were like following the intended ending of the trilogy, then I would suggest picking this book up. If you were not that invested or don't particularly care about what happened, then I wouldn't suggest picking it up. Why? It's because nothing really ended up happening in this book to add to the story. While I thoroughly enjoyed reading the initial three books of what was supposed to be a trilogy, this was a bit unclear what the overall purpose behind the story was. It was slice of life material, unnecessary drama, many of the plotlines introduced are left unresolved and open-ended, making readers to question if there will be another book in the series or if it will simply end the series that way.
The story of Dante and Beatrice, comes alive through Gabriel and Julia. Sylvain is able to write such intense scenes and feelings, and really draws the reader in. I felt like I was there with them, and I loved every minute. Reading about the beginning of the journey as parents was amazing. And of course there’s a little suspense thrown in with the addition of a mystery relic that Gabriel isn’t sure where it came from or what it’s for. Julia, meanwhile, is dealing with first time mom problems as well as some possibly troubling health issues and she doesn’t want to burden Gabriel with her issues.
I sincerely hope there’s another book in this series, the story of Gabriel and Julia isn’t quite finished yet I don’t think.
This book was a fantastic come back to a fan-favorite series. Through the Florentine Series we got to see a little bit of the Emerson, but the readers longed to know more of them. I'm really happy Sylvain Reynard wrote this book, playing a little bit with the suspense and delivering his signature romance.
Life couldn't be better for Professor Emerson and his beloved Julianne. In Gabriel's Promise we get to see them explore a new role as parents, while they try to live their love at its fullest. But there's danger around them, hidden enemies, and while professor Emerson swears to protect his family he also must face a hard reality. He can't control everything, and when life throws a curveball his way, he will need to decide what's the best way to keep the promise he made to his family.
Sylvain Reynard returns with another installment in the Gabriel’s Inferno series. Much like the other books in the series, this book has an elegant approach to it. A lot of the prose feels poetic and I do really like the attention to detail. There are some times when I do think it’s too much and takes over the pacing of the novel, but I do appreciate the author’s effort to keep the concept alive.
In this book, more character develop happens with Gabriel and Julia. There are more moving parts to this book because of the characters and I do felt like it moved at a brisk pace, especially in the beginning. The short chapters makes it easy to consume and I still love the fact that it’s set in my hometown, so I feel an even strong bond to it because of that.
While it may not be my favorite of the series, I do think readers will enjoy the update on the characters as well as the story that Reynard has provided this time around.
I absolutely loved this book, it's everything I wanted and more! I have loved Gabriel and Julia from the very beginning, following their love story and always wanting more. Sylvain Reynard's writing is so beautiful and personal and I feel like I am a part of the story.
I'm so glad that SR has continued their story, this is hands down one of my favorite couples and I truly hope that we continue to get more!
When I saw that Sylvain Reynard was giving us another peek into the life of Julia and Gabriel I was thrilled I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I loved their story from the first word of Gabriel's Inferno until the last word of Gabriel's Redemption.
In Gabriel's Promise we see how their family is evolving with their beautiful little girl, Clare, but some things are still what we have come to expect and love. The heat, the passion, the deep devotion, the miscommunication, and the suspense.
Now I will admit that I read this book a few months ago and for some reason didn't write my review which is terrible on so many levels. But if I had I wouldn't be able to add this: I got to see Julia and Gabriel come to life this weekend thanks to Passionflix which will be bringing the series to us and it just reinforced my love for this series. I cannot wait for the next installment.
This is the fourth book in the series and it needs to be read in the order in which it has been released in order to follow the growth in this beautiful love story.
Happy Reading!!!
**I have voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book**
I was so looking forward to visiting the love story between Gabriel and Julianne once again as I adored the first three books in this series, but unfortunately Gabriel's Promise is not all that it has promised to be. Once a love story has already been told it's so very hard to recapture all the magic that the characters once had in the build up of their romance. For me this book in all honesty really felt pointless as it had none the exciting romantic drama and suspense that the previous books had. This story was mainly about Gabriel doting on his new daughter Clare and his family life, which was all well and good until other parts of the book were filled in with so many quotes and passages from Dante's Inferno (The Divine Comedy) which at times became overkill, so much so that it felt like I was reading a textbook and not a romance novel. Yes I know that Gabriel is a Dante specialist but to fill so much of the story with just that was really quite uninteresting to read and for me the story became so flat and boring. What could have been such a wonderful addition to this series just didn't hit the mark for me and with this book ending with so much unanswered I presume another book is in the works, which at the moment i'm unsure i'd even read it after this one was such a disappointment for me.
It is always fun to go back to characters I fell in love with when I first began my reading journey in 2012, and with Gabriel's Promise, I did just that. I love getting to see what is going on again with Julia and Gabriel. With the upcoming release of the Passionflix of the 1st book, this book got me excited for these two again. And all the other things that surround them. Sylvain's writing has always been such fascinating work to me. It is writing and depth within a story that make you think and truly enhance each and every one of her books.
I didn't enjoy this one as much as the previous books. I could have done with a lot less of the baby/medical stuff and more steamy sex 🤣🤣 I also liked all the Dante/academic parts. I loved how there were so many Katherine Picton scenes. She is becoming far and away my favorite. I'm looking forward to if there is a book #5 and soaking in all the Scottish scenery!
I can't tell you how much I've read and reread this series. Gabriel and Jules' passionate love story will never get old for me. What is amazing about this couple is how their relationship defies all the odds. If you are searching for a story about one true love, Gabriel and Jules' story is definitely a must read.
Loved getting to see Gabriel and Julia as parents. I wasn't sure what to expect, but they definitely had more than a few obstacles to overcome. I enjoyed watching them work through them together.
All these years later and I am just as in love with this series as I was from the beginning.
GUYS! More Gabriel and Julia!!
I Aveo these two and hands down they are still a top read for me even after hundreds of books since the last release.
I wont give anything away with this. This read is everything you want it to be. The characters and the story. It is wonderful falling back in love with them and getting to be in their world again.
I felt like this novel was the book we needed. While the last read was perfect, this read brought all the answers I didn’t know I still wanted and needed. These two have their own issues and they still have growing to do but I love how human and relatable that is. There isn’t any sailing off into perfect bliss, but there is true love and the battles that you fight to keep it strong.
Gosh, I remember reading the initial trilogy and loving it--wanting so much more. I even re-read it prior to reading Gabriel's Promise, but this time around, the trilogy didn't hold me in thrall, didn't really keep my attention, But I sitll remained hopeful for Gabriel's Promise. But unfortunately, that too fell flat for me. And it was DNF at approximately 30%.
Oh, how far they've come - the professor and the student - Gabriel and Julia. When the series came out I was obsessed with them, their history, their connection, and the angst that loving one and another brought about. I enjoyed this catch up with the Emersons, to see them compromising with each other, caring for their child, and growing as people. This was a very enjoyable read that brought about the finale to this wonderful series.
GAAAH This was a brilliant addition. I absolutely adore this authors writing and this story just added so much more depth to the series. This is one of those books that will stick with you regardless of how long it has been since you have read it!
***I received an ebook copy from the author at no cost***
This is the fourth installment in the Gabriel’s Inferno series. It was wonderful to get to go back and see Gabriel and Julia and the life the crafted together. The two have become parents in this book, and Gabriel is just as sweet of a father as he is a partner to Julia. In fact, some of the more breathtaking moments in this book were during scenes when he’s with his little girl.
Reynard’s writing is, as always, poetic and beautiful. He paints pictures with words and sets readers down amidst the world he’s built. As with the other books in this series, some things are shrouded in mystery and we find out piece by piece as the story unfolds.
While this book didn’t necessarily advance the storyline a lot, it was nice to get to spend time with these characters again. I love how far they’ve come as a couple and how much each has developed over the course of the series.
If you’ve been following this story, grab this book and give it a read.
Four stars!
I really like these books. So much fun and yet deeper than a lot of other books in this genre. I think any fans of 50 shades of grey will also like this series.
