This book follows bear who is in love with squirrel. He keeps leaving her gifts, but is too shy to stay and see her. She doesn't know who is leaving the gifts until he finally has the courage to stay.
This was a well-illustrated book with a good story. I would have preferred bear want to be friends with squirrel, not be in love with her. This book is written for very young children and I believe they would get more out of the story with a plot about friendship.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Bear is in love with squirrel, but does squirrel love him back? Does she like his gifts? A childish love story set in a forest of woodland animals. I wouldn't say this is one of my favorites, the way love portrayed is not what I would like to teach my children. Not for me. But the illustrations are cute and colorful.

I absolutely love the illustrations in this book, they are gorgeous! I thought the story was very sweet and I could see myself buying this for a special little one in my life.
A sweet story about being in love but being too scared to let the other person know. Bear loves Squirrel. He brings her presents but can't seem to get up the courage to tell her it is him who is sending them.
This would be a great story to share for a Valentine's Day or love themed story time.

I found some of the sentences kind of awkward. I’m not sure if it is because it is a translated book or not. The illustrations are sweet. The text is a little strange I thought.
Little Bear, you got this, you just need to get a little bigger, but you got this.
A fun way of teaching love to the little ones with bear flying high with his success. A lovely little tale that can be read at bedtime or anytime, it's a fun time read.⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book was absolutely adorable. Bear loves Squirrel but is too shy to tell her. Instead he leaves her gifts. The pictures are so cute. The text is short and flows well. I think kids will love the story and pictures. So fun.
A decent look at inter-species sex – well, you have to admit that's what happens when a bear falls in love with a squirrel and she reciprocates. Before then, though, the bear is amusingly over-timid, in this brief but pretty read for the very young. Never going to be a classic, this is still worth considering – but you'd not only have to explain the very wrongness of the plot, but also why the bear seems to have an angelic snail as kitchen helper.
I read this book to my kids, both under the age of 10. They both liked it but I don’t think my younger daughter really understood the message. The pictures were good. It has a nice message but for a kids book I think it would have been better to have Bear want to be friends with Squirrel instead of in love with her.
I have a four year old grandson who i know will love this story. He is very attached to his bear and loves to share a book with his mother, especially before bed. Loved the illustrations. A sweet story and one that i would recommend.
My thanks to Netgalley and the Publishers for my copy. This is my honest review, which i have voluntarily given.
I'm a little conflicted about this one. On the one hand, it's really quite cute and sweet. On the other, it seems weird to be talking about courtship rituals in a book for 4-year-olds.
I think part of the problem is that the synopsis/back blurb made me expect something a bit different. This really isn't a book about being in love. It's simply a story about a bear who wants to show his love for his friend. (The fact that he's shy about it is perhaps the only thing that turns it into a story about a romantic relationship. It's not really explained why he's so shy, though, so I don't know if little kids will really think much of it.)
The story and illustrations are rather cute, if you can ignore the really odd size relationships. (We have a squirrel the size of a bear... which would make the ladybug the size of an actual squirrel. Yikes!) A bear wants to show his love to a squirrel. So he picks some flowers and, too shy to actually give them to her, leaves them on her doorstep with an unsigned card. Squirrel is delighted... but doesn't know where the flowers came from. Meanwhile, Bear hasn't heard from Squirrel, so he wonders if she liked the flowers. He decides to make her some cookies instead. Again, he leaves them by her door and runs away. And so it goes until there's a mishap with a kite and the identity of Squirrel's secret admirer is finally revealed. It's all very innocent. There aren't even any kisses (although there is a hug).
The illustrations (aside from the size issue I mentioned before) are quite cute. There's lots to look at in each illustration, even though the backgrounds are sparse and white. All the bear-themed toys in Bear's room are rather adorable.
I think this book might actually be a bit more appropriate for children if the blurb were changed. As it is, it implies too mature of a theme (i.e., romantic love). The story itself is sweet, though, and a nice example of friends doing sweet things to show their love for one another.
This is a cute, quick read about a bear who loves a squirrel. The bear is too shy to tell the squirrel how he feels, so he keeps leaving her gifts anonymously. The book is very short, but probably a good length for the targeted age group. However, I wish there was a little more substance to the story. *This review will also be published on Goodreads.*
