When I saw this book I jumped on it right away. I've been a huge fan of Brian Gordon's ever since first coming across his comics on Facebook. Fowl Language was just what I expected. All the comics were super relatable and showcased some actual problems parents face but with a humorous touch. It makes everything much lighter to know your own struggles are the same or similar to everyone else. It's truly a wonderful thing to be able to laugh and trust me this book will put you right there.

I received an advanced copy of this book via NetGalley and am leaving a voluntary honest review.

Fowl Language is a hilarious webcomic run by Brian Gordon – and this book celebrate some of the funniest moments in one nice compilation (one of several, actually). So if you’re a fan of the duck comics full of child focused humor, then this book will be perfect for you.
Fowl Language: Winging It: The Art of Imperfect Parenting is everything fans could hope for. Some of the series best comics make an appearance here. Naturally, all of them have a focus on children or the comical side effects of having children. It’s a light and refreshing read, one that is sure to make parents all over the world chuckle (and even non-parents can enjoy it as well).
I especially loved the organization within this compilation. All of the single page comics were group together in a way that fit thematically. It really helped with the flow of the book, and possibly even added to the humor at points.
It’s amazing how much personality this series has managed to infuse into their ducks. Or how relatable so many of the comics are. I found myself laughing or groaning, depending on the subject. It was a delightful experience.
Fowl Language: Winging It is a perfect give for any fan of the comics, or for any parent you want to amuse. Especially if you feel that they could use a laugh in their life.

I follow Fowl Language on Facebook and love everything that Brian makes. His funny quips are so spot-on with parenting in general and it's always a treat when I see a new comic posted.

When I saw that he was releasing a book I knew I had to read it, and it does not disappoint! It reminds us through all of our frustrations and joy that we truly are just winging it. As long as we don't raise total asshats for society, we are doing okay!

I am a huge fan of this author and this series but I found the juxtaposition of the written text with the graphics to be a little annoying and for a sort of flair that the comics had before to be missing. I hope the author returns to his original format as it was superior for me, personally.

I love Fowl Language! When I used to have an Instagram account I used to follow it!
I feared a bit that it would feel old and something I already have seen, however, there were so many strips I was not familiar before. Which is a huge plus for me.

There is not much else for me to say, other than if you are not familiar with Fowl Language it's something you should give a chance!

I LOVE Brian Gordon’s Fowl Language comic strip. This book is fantastic. Hilarious. Relatable. Realistic.

As a parent of a 20 month old and a 13 year old it’s so great to have an outlet like this to laugh and how perfectly imperfect I am.

I have reviewed the previous book: Fowl Language: The Struggle Is Real and am a regular follower of the author on Instagram. I jumped at the chance of reviewing an advance copy of this latest collection, and my review is completely based on my own reading experience.

It is different from just reading the comic strips because there is more emotion in the introduction to the chapter in which the author bares his soul than in the comics themselves. Quite a few of them I had previously seen on the frequent posts so they were not much of a surprise. I liked the jokes, the writing but I liked the previous collection better, which does not mean this wasn't funny in its own way. I read it almost as soon as I had access to it and wrapped it up in one sitting.

This collection might appeal to new parents, or parents of children in general even more since it might draw empathetic reactions and parallels to their own experiences.

I absolutely loved this book and devoured it in one sitting, sometimes laughing so hard that my stomach hurt. Brian Gordon's comics about parenting and life never fail to make me chuckle, and I truly believe that this collection includes some of his best work. I cannot wait to gift this book to my best friend who is becoming a new parent this fall - just so she and her husband know that some of these parenting things are normal and universal and funny :)

This was a fun little read. I liked how the animals told the story of growing up in those short comics and panels. The art style was cute and it was a colourful and funny read.

I typically read review books alone, but Brian Gordon's Fowl Language: Winging it caused me to laugh so often that my husband felt compelled to join me in front of my computer. Before long we were both chuckling, much to the consternation of our children who insisted we explain the content of every panel that made us laugh...

To make a long story short, reading this book became an event in and of itself, a family event that left each of us thoroughly tickled by the everyday realities and humor that is so brilliantly captured between these pages.

I have been following Brian Gordon for a few years and have thoroughly enjoyed his Fowl Language comics.
If you have children or been around children, you will laugh your way through this book. So many of these captions are relatable. From a newborn screaming and being a frazzled new parent to kicking them out the door when school starts back up. You will laugh because they are all true. Every single one. You will not feel alone.
Each section is prefaced with a little write-up from the cartoonist and they are just as funny, if not funnier, than the cartoons.
I highly recommend this book for yourself, any parent you know and new parents. Well, we may not want to scare them too badly.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with this book, in exchange for my honest opinion. It will be available to purchase on October twenty second.

Who knew that it would be possible for me to relate so much to a duck? I struggle with reading graphic novels, but I love a good web comic. Back in the day, I used to read Penny Arcade, and comics along those lines. Then, one fated night, long after the cranky baby should have been sleeping, while surfing Facebook in an effort to stay awake myself, I stumbled across two panels of parental hilarity. Finally, someone got it. Being a parent is amazing, a miracle, and I love every moment of it…except the moments that I loathe.

Those times that everyone who’s well-rested claim I’ll look back on fondly? Yeah. This author nails my mixed feelings on those perfectly. The painful struggle that is toilet training? That’s in here too. That moment when I tear up because my oldest isn’t little anymore and why is he growing so freaking fast? Yep, this fowl little parent understands.

This collection of parenting comics is fabulous. If you’ve ever experienced the joys and trials of parenting, especially if you’re in the trenches now and need a little tongue-in-cheek humor, this book is for you.

Be aware that this fowl is a bit foul. He’s also funny and very real. Parents: pick this book up. When you’re done laughing, you’ll thank me.

Great comic book about parenting. I really enjoy Brian's comics and I follow his Facebook page. I enjoyed the comics in this book and the essays about parents. I'm not a parent myself but I can still get a chuckle out of the stories. Very funny!

You had to stumble upon Brian Gordon's art at some point if you're a) user of social media who's a parent as well b) user of social media who's connected with parents. His short comics dealing with theme of parenthood are funny and painfully true, that's why they resonate with humans so well.

Well, his humor is turned into a comicbook now with personal stories about different aspects of Brian Gordon's adventure with his kids serving as introduction to chapters.

I find reading this book on my computer screen ridiculous since it's loaded pretty slowly due to heavy DRM protection, but I guess the final printed product will be a great gift or addition to your own library if you're a lover of Gordon's work.

Recommended.

I really love Brian Gordon's cartoons. Ever since I saw them cropping up occasionally on Facebook a few years ago, I've been a huge fan. Through his cartoons about a father duck and his ducklings, Gordon touches on universal truths about parenting. And he does it in a really funny way. With swearing.

This book, 'Winging It', is packed with more excellent artwork, plus little introductory essays about different topics. As Gordon's own children are older now (the same age as my own), the topics are a little more wide-ranging than previously. Now, we have a new focus on the bickering between siblings, arguments about school and musings on how quickly the kids grow. It's like he lives in my house!

I knew I'd love this. It's very funny, totally accurate and yet also manages to capture the feeling that - however bad parenting is at times - you'd absolutely never change anything. Gordon makes you feel that you aren't alone in being driven mad by the little people you created. He also makes me feel better about my own (excessive) coffee consumption!
