I like the series so far but this fell a little short for me. I didn't feel a connection between Remy and Asher. They were both stubborn for two long and thought they should have remained friend. Each character had a smoothie couldn't shake. . I also didn't love the storyline. Without spoiling anything I felt bad for her ex. There was too much going on with Damon, Lars and Joaquin.
A great second chance romance with a good measure of suspense and romance rolled in. Asher and Remy were high school sweethearts until Asher reeling from his mother's death left both Remy and the small town he grew up in behind. Now he's back and with his three friends a detective in the local police force wanting to take up from where he left off only to find that's not a simple thing to do.
When Asher finds that Remy's bridegroom is a con artist he stands up in church to stop the marriage, not the best way to kiss and make up but it does have the shock and awe effect of getting Remy to connect with him especially when bodes start mounting and she's being stalked.
With the mob and other sundry bad guys in the picture and stolen money that Remy has used to fund her shop the story has quite a few exciting moments.
I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series and was super excited about this one. Asher intrigued me so I couldn’t wait for his book.
Asher and Remy were high school sweethearts, meant to be together forever. Unfortunately, it ended when Asher left to join the FBI shortly after his mother’s death. Remy had a hard time forgiving him for leaving her, especially when she ended up losing her beloved Nana shortly after. Asher came back to town only 5 years later but it took Remy another few years to even speak to him.
Asher regretted leaving Remy, his one and only love. When Remy ends up with a bad guy for a fiance, Asher has to step in. What comes next is their journey back to each other. Back to the one person who truly understands them.
What a journey it was. I adored Asher. All the ways he loved Remy and tried to get her back in his life were incredible. Protecting her. Always. *swoon*
I love all of the characters from this small town and am looking forward to the next book. I want to know all the things about Rhett.
I received an advance reader copy from NetGalley for an honest review.
Stacey’s writing never surprises me and her writing keeps getting better by the book.
We got to meet Asher and Remy in Naughty Stranger. I knew from the minute that Asher interrupted Remy’s wedding that we were in for a wonderful ride with them. Asher broke Remy one time and she’s not willing to let him do that again, but now that Asher is back all he wants to do be protect Remy.
This is another must read and I can’t wait to get my hands on Ruthless Bastard, but April 2020 seems so far away.
Wicked Sinner by Stacey Kennedy is book Two in the Dangerous Love Series. This is the story of Asher Sullivan and Remy Brennan. I have read the previous book, but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so. Asher and Remy where once young and seem to be in love but Asher just up and left leaving Remy. Now all these years later Remy was about to marry only to have Asher bust it up saying that her soon to be husband was a bad guy. Which has left her confused and in danger. Asher has always wanted to protect Remy and things haven't changed with that desire. But this might be their second chance to have more.
Enjoyed their story.
I loved this book and series. You just gotta love an uber alpha male wanting to do anything to protect his one true love! And best of all - Wicked Sinner - is a second chance romance!
Remy Brennan world came crashing down on her years ago, when Asher - her one-time everything, up and left her for a new job at the FBI, even though he promised her the world. Now years later, Asher is back in town and Remy has avoided him at all cost, even moving on to marry someone else. But it all comes crashing down again, when Asher stops her wedding! Remy was about to marry a con man!
When Remy's ex-fiance is arrested, she thought she can put it all behind her and move on again. But wrong, what she decided to do with some unexpected money she found causes her danger! And Asher will do anything to protect her.
This book has it all, comedy, suspense and best of all a chance at your first love again.
Wicked Sinner is the second book in the Dangerous Love series. Each book <i>can</i> be read a standalone though as each novel is of a different couple - I personally would recommend starting with <b>Naughty Stranger</b> - book 1 for the maximum reading experience of this little crew.
<blockquote><i>"You promised me forever."</i></blockquote>
Remy and Asher's book was a good as I thought it would be. I was anxiously awaiting this release after finishing Naughty Stranger months ago. The prologue was heart-wrenching though and the first scene in Chapter 1 really started this novel off with a <b>BANG.</b>
The pace of the story was excellent, the suspense of what would happen next kept me on the edge of my seat. Plus I loved the whole second-chance romance between the characters and felt like they deserved another shot years later. The side characters are what really made this book shine through and there is someone's story I am SOOO excited to read next.

What would you do if you found a bag full of hundreds of thousands of dollars? Ten years ago, Remy's heart was broken by the love of her life because Asher was offered a job of a lifetime with the FBI. With his mother gone, and him at a loss, he needed to escape. Now he's back and he's full of guilt and regret. Remy meant everything to him and after he left, her life pretty much fell apart. She even went as far as to fall in love and almost marry a con man. So when he finds evidence to arrest her fiance, at the wedding, Asher does everything he can to put her pieces back together. Little did he know that she'd found a bag full of cash, called it her own, and brought a whole slew of new trouble into their lives.
I'm always a sucker for a good second chance romance, and Wicked Sinner was a good one! I loved how the author had Asher working towards forgiveness and letting these two friends find their way back to each other. I also loved getting to spend so much time with the secondary characters, giving me the chance to get to know them and be intrigued enough to read their stories too. With a touch of suspense, this story turned out to be an enjoyable small town romance.
3.5 Stars
On her wedding day, Remy Brennan is prepared to finally have the life she always dreamed of... until she finds out that her fiancée isn't the man she thought he was... in the most devastating way possible.
Asher Sullivan once made the biggest mistake of his life when he left Remy and the life they had envisioned making together. And although all those years ago, the possibility of a relationship between them was shattered beyond repair, he would love nothing more than to simply be her friend again... if she'll have him...

Wicked Sinner was a second chance romance that featured some light suspense and a dramatic and engaging storyline. Remy and Asher once meant everything to each other, but when their lives started spiraling out of control, the love that they shared fell victim to their consequences. And when the slow rebuilding of their friendship brings back the feelings they once had, they both agree that they can never make the mistake of falling for each other, ever again.
I really enjoyed the plot of this book and I wished I would have connected with the characters a little more. I felt bad for Remy and all that she had been through, and while she was a little too into her "magic" to have it make important decisions for her, I loved the store she wanted to open in honor of her Nana and the memories they shared. What I would have LOVED to see was for Remy to have developed more of a backbone, and the ability to stand up for herself, but she was definitely someone who you wished that great things would finally happen for.
I liked Asher, even though his reasons for leaving Remy all those years ago definitely sucked. And while he was still guarded and trying to protect himself and Remy from further hurt, I felt like the poor man apologized and felt bad about his decisions for the entire book. And in the end, I would have loved something more current in the changes that came with their connection and relationship now vs too much of the focus being on what their relationship was like in the past.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
Second chance romance, small town, ruined wedding: Wicked Sinner by Stacey Kennedy delivers all of it. Remy has been hurt so much throughout her life. Asher caused the biggest hurt of all when he left. However, his return also brings about the ruining of her wedding when he objects. But not for the reason Remy was hoping...
Remy is such a quirky character. She was raised by her grandmother who taught her all about potions and cleansing spells and other hippy-dippy stuff. Remy wanted to open her own "new age" shop, but she need her inheritance to do it. Remy has great "girl squad" to support her and I love that.
Its easy to hate Asher for what he did. He bailed on Remy with no excuse. Then when her life got even harder, he still wasn't there. Now that he is back, he wants to be her friend. I kinda wanted to throat punch him for being a tool. He is now a local cop and the one to figure out that Remy's soon to be husband isn't who he says he is. He has this level of guilt that is not quite understandable. If he really is sorry, why doesn't he TALK to Remy about it? Instead he lets her ignore him for 4 years! He didn't just come back to town and ruin her wedding-he had been back for years!
I struggled at times with the story because I didn't really believe in the Chemistry between Remy and Asher. Heat? Yeah sure. But actual feelings? Meh. And the added suspense was good, but abrupt and not really fleshed out enough to make it believable.
If you've read most of my reviews, you know I have a love/hate relationship with second chance romance, and how it makes me feel. There's usually SO MUCH ANGST, and that's just not my jam. I think the reason this one worked for me, was because the bulk of the angst and brokenhearted feelings were pretty far in the past, and had mostly already been dealt with. This was a unique situation, and I really enjoyed their connection.
Asher Sullivan is a police detective in his small hometown of Stoney Creek, Maine. He grew up there, and his 2 lifelong best friends are detectives as well. Once, ten years ago, when tragedy drove him out of town, and towards a job in D.C. with the FBI, he broke the love of his life, Remy's, heart by leaving. After 5 years, he returned home, but she would barely acknowledge his existence. He didn't really know how to fix things between them, so he was just biding his time until she would finally speak to him again. But, by then, about a year before, she was seeing someone else, and now she's set to marry him. Asher has always had a bad feeling about Damon, Remy's fiance, and so he dug into him, only to find the worst info. As much as he knows Remy will never forgive him, the warrant comes through right in the middle of her wedding ceremony, so he objects, only to arrest Damon for fraud.
Remy Brennan thought she and Asher would be together forever. When he broke her heart and left town, and then her only real family, her nana, died a short time later, she was a complete mess. She finally got her life back to some sort of normal, but she still doesn't have everything she wants. She's been dating Damon for a year, and thinks he's mostly perfect, though all her friends hate him. When Asher objects in the middle of her wedding, her treacherous heart leaps, thinking he's finally going to make things right between them. Turns out, he only needed to arrest Damon for trying to steal Remy's inheritance. Also, his name isn't really Damon. Guess he was a little TOO perfect?? Now, she doesn't know what to think, as feelings for Asher she thought she was completely over, are rearing their ugly heads, and she might be in trouble with the local mob, due to "Damon's" shenanigans.
Remy and Asher had an electric connection that neither time, nor distance could lessen. She didn't really want to feel for him the way she did after all the time that had passed, but she couldn't seem to help herself. Asher doesn't think he can give Remy what she really wants and needs, a steady life, with a family and home. But, he can't let her go either. He's determined to protect her from the current threats, and then attempt to actually let her go for good. As if.
Remy's love of her nana's magics, and herbal remedies, and her use of tarot and such in her daily life, might make some people think her strange, but she doesn't care. She knows what she knows, and she's determined to share it with others. When she finally opens her dream shop, selling all the things she learned from her nana, she's so happy, until the bad guy starts sniffing around. Also, she can't help but give in to her body's need for Asher, even though her brain is shrieking warnings, while her heart is trying to leap from her chest towards him. It's a giant mess, and she's not sure how to fix it.
When Asher comes up with a fix for their situation, it seems perfect, until he realizes it will ruin everything between them for good, if he isn't totally honest about everything. I really loved how each of them tried everything to stop from falling into each other again, but it was just impossible. They were meant to be.
The suspense plot was good, and kept me guessing about why things were happening, and how they could stop it all. I'm intrigued by the local mob boss too. Will we ever learn more about him, I wonder? The side characters here are mostly the same crew from book 1, and I enjoy them all so much, ESPECIALLY Kinsley! She's Remy's BFF, and the hero from book 1, Boone's, sister. I cannot wait for her story next, with the last of the male best friend detective trio, Rhett. He seems like an overly stoic, damaged, man-whoring, piece of work, so I'm so curious how that's all going to go down. Excited to find out!
From the prologue to closing line, I was so engulfed in this book! Wicked Sinner, written by author Stacey Kennedy, is a fantastic book!
Remy Brennan is just trying to live her life, trying to gain her inheritance so she can open her business of potions and spiritual…and unknowingly marrying a con-man may put those plans to a screeching halt.
Asher Sullivan, ex-FBI agent and ex-love of Remy’s life, is trying to protect Remy…but ends up just hurting her more.
My heart broke with Remy’s, not just once…but twice. Like…serious heartbreak! I had tears!!! Asher has a major part in both of these, (thanks a lot, Asher!) but being Remy’s friend for so many years, he wants to help her heal.
This romance story has love, heartache, heat, mystery/danger, secrets, voodoo/magic and second chances. I thoroughly enjoyed this second book in the Dangerous Love series so much! It was a quicker read and one I did not want to put down! I loved the 2 person POV, and the flow of the storyline, and the characters were excellent! Very much looking forward to the next book in the series! 5-stars!
Every time I start a second chance romance, I’m hesitant. I often get book rage if the reason they split, and the time they spend apart, was for not good reasons. Asher and Remy didn’t give me book rage, they gave me anxiety, because I so needed them to work this out and get back together!
Very young when they got together, unable to handle the stress of their break-up, they both got hurt, badly, when they split. It takes a good part of the book for it come up with the why’s and how’s, and the acceptance of the situation. But the focus isn’t on the people they were then, that is part of their history. They work on who they are now, and the awareness and electricity they still have. The feelings are harder for them, the hurt that needs to heal, even all these years later. Bit by bit, a little at a time, Remy heals and understands. Asher sees things differently, and not through lenses of pain and confusion. They embrace what has always been there, never went away, between them, and grab their future to make it their own
Plus, there is a mystery to solve, and bad guys to put down. And we are left with an unknown factor, that I hope my gut feeling is right about. Of course, we get a sneak momentary preview of our sassy heroine’s circumstances for the next book in the series as well!
This second chance romance does a good job of keeping your interest even though the plot isn't very original. This novel is by far carried by its characters. Asher and Remy are very real characters, full of flaws and quirks. They don't always make the best decisions, but you understand their flawed logic in those decision.
The steamy factor is very high with this one, and I look forward to reading more in the series.
I've enjoyed the Dangerous Love series by Stacey Kennedy. We've seen enough of Asher and Remy in the previous books to know they have an interesting history. I couldn't wait to find out more and see where they would go. Wicked Sinner gave me the answers to my questions in a thoroughly enjoyable story.
Asher hurt Remy in a way that she never thought she could get over. He's determined to make up for it and win her friendship back. He's also still in love with her but he also believes she'll never forgive him. Saving her from her fiance at her wedding isn't the best way to start the healing.
Remy and Asher are both so likable and I was invested in their story from the beginning to the end.
I love these guys. I was so upset in book 1 seeing them dance around each other and not acknowledging their history. Which apparently wasn't actually history...
Remy and the one who ran away (coughs suspiciously sounding like *Asher*) were the fairytale until one dark and stormy night everything crumbled.
Fast forward ten years and a barely patched up "friendhsip" while he interrupts her wedding. Yeah, these two are a mess. But they are our mess, anyone who read Naughty Stranger had to have felt the pull and therefore claimed them as their own.
While I appreciate finally seeing these two together, I want to shake them until they bleed. They are no less frustrating in Wicked Sinner. Constantly getting in their own way and fighting the inevitable, Remy and Asher make you work for that ever after. And considering the ending, they clearly aren't the only ones. (Side eyes Kinsley and Rhett)
Wicked Sinner by Stacey Kennedy tells the story of Asher Sullivan and Remy Brennan. Asher and Remy were the couple in high school although he waited till she was 18 to take her virginity. She loved him so. So when instead of asking her to marry him he informs her that he is leaving town alone she is devastated. This story takes place ten years later. Asher moved back to town five years ago and Remy has moved on or attempted to. This is a romantic suspense with twists and turns galore. A fun, feel good escape.
I think where I might have went wrong in choosing this book is the fact that I didn't read the first one in the series. Sometimes you can jump in a series where you want, and it will all be okay because the story can make sense without knowing the history. THIS is not one of those times. Instead, I felt like I was missing a huge part of the main characters' backstory, and the author didn't really explain it well. Yes, we got their history from ten years ago, but Asher had been back in town for five years. What happened during that time? They seem fairly stable in their "relationship" at the point this story begins - still some animosity, but it felt like they had talked out some of the issues in the year since they started speaking. But I didn't get any of that, so for me, the story felt like one big disconnect. I also didn't really care for how quickly they jumped into bed together - I mean, her engagement just fell apart, they are both very drunk, and neither has the strength to step back and say, hey, this might not be a good idea. I can see this being believable if they are young but...they are 30 and 33, respectively. I expected a tad more maturity. Not that you're not allowed to get drunk at that age but, yeah, it just didn't jive with me.
I would definitely give this author another go, but I will definitely start at Book 1 next time.
The second book in the Dangerous Love series by Stacey Kennedy is titled Wicked Sinner. A suspenseful romance that is sure to keep you second-guessing with unexpected twists and turns. What would you do if you found a bag full of hundreds of thousands of dollars? What are you willing to risk or give up? Wicked Sinner is a swoon-worthy romance that is sure to steam up your glasses! A sweet second chance romance that shows what two friends go through in finding their way back to each other. Can they forgive or will the past haunt them forever? The characters are well-written with intriguing backstories. The secondary characters help play a major part in the storyline. Wicked Sinner is a lovely romantic suspense that is sure to leave you wanting more.

I knew from the get go that I was going to fall hard for Asher. Hell, I knew it in book 1 when he came onto the page. I was not disappointed.
I love second chance romances. I love the history between the characters and all
the angst that comes with it. Asher and Remy have a past riddled with shared heartbreak, and this is where the angst that I like so much comes into play. Asher blames himself for the shit storm that Is Remy’s life at the moment, and she’s trying to move past all the hurt. I could really feel all of the emotion. It grabbed a hold of my heart very early on.
One of the things that I found a bit frustrating was the lack of communication between the hero and heroine. I mean, I understand where it comes from, but a conversation would saved them from a whole bunch of sadness. But that’s not how most romances books work. And honestly, even though it was something I struggled with, I wouldn’t want it any other way. I’m a sucker for punishment. I crave the journey.
This is a great series. It takes place in a small coastal town, and has some quirky characters that you might find in a place with a small population. Lots of busybodies who mean well, but aren’t so subtle in their prying ways. I like that the main and secondary characters are close. They have a lifetime of memories between them all.
Mixed in with all the crazy sexiness in this book is some really good suspense. There’s a new character that’s introduced, and I can’t help but hope he gets a story. He has that anti hero thing going on, and I find those guys absolutely irresistible.
Everything moved along really well in regards to the plot. I found myself wanting to read late into the night, even when tiredness was hanging over my eyelids. That doesn’t happen all that often for me. I like losing myself in a story that makes the lack of sleep totally worth it. Wicked Sinner did that and more. It was fun, suspenseful, and wickedly delicious.
