This is the third and last book in the Evermore Chronicles Series. I gave 5-❤️ to each book in the series because they are equally great. This series is filled with action, suspense, courage, surprises, and, of course, love. The last book concluded the series in a spectacular way.
In the last book, Everley is in hiding because of the queen’s false accusations. She is still mourning the loss of her family and is determined to find Killian Markham and make his pay for his sins. With the help of her friends, she will travel the worlds to find him before it is too late. Father Time has shown her the future and she can see that Killian has figured out a way to bring destruction to her world. He also showed her what she must sacrifice to stop Killian. Will she find a way to stop him before it is too late? Will she be willing to make that sacrifice?
This is a magnificent read. I recommend this series wholeheartedly. Thank you Skyscape for providing me an ARC of this incredible novel.

Title Everafter Song (The Evermore Chronicles #3)
Author Emily R. King
Release Date December 10, 2019
Description
There’s a price on Everley Donovan’s head. Fleeing from the queen’s false accusation of murder and sorcery, the girl with the clock heart knows there’s only one way to prove her innocence. Everley must catch Killian Markham, the fugitive prince guilty of the crimes for which she’s been condemned. To do that, Everley must follow him into the towering realm of the Silver-Clouded Plain. It’s where flesh-eating Behemoths thrive, long-lost gods hide, and an artifact of destructive force awaits the death grip of the immortal prince.
Haunted by visions of burning Everwoods and bloody battlefields, Everley’s fears are rising. Because the elusive relic threatens more than the very power that drives her clock heart. In Killian’s hands, it can lead to the dismantling of the seven worlds. With everything—and everyone—Everley loves at stake, she must depend on Killian’s one weakness to outwit him: in his mad ambitions, Killian has underestimated her once again. For Everley is the Time Bearer. This is her destiny. The time of reckoning is at hand.
Initial Thoughts
The first book in this series was totally a cover/bookstagram influenced purchase. It was so beautiful and it turns out, it’s also an amazing book. I loved the first book and then was given an ARC of the second book, Into the Hourglass and devoured that too. I was so excited when I received an ARC of this book and I’m so happy to help promote such a wonderful series.
Some Things I Liked
Thoughtful world building and unique settings. I love the world Emily R. King has created and throughout this series, she has taken the reader to such rich and amazing places. Everafter Song is no exception. I loved the Land of Promise as well as the time Everley, Jamison and the gang spent at his family home.
Loose ends tied up. I loved that everything came full circle in an way that felt complete. I hate loose ends and I love that this series, while leaving some details up to the imagination of the reader, also gives closure to many open questions.
Thought-provoking questions. Most of this series is driven by Everley’s vendetta against the man who murdered her family. There are moments where is is asked to decide between her revenge and something else. I really enjoyed watching Everley’s character grow as she learned what is really important to her. Everafter Song in particular prompts questions of morality (what should they do with Killian) as well as risk vs. reward of a quest for revenge.
The ending. I loved it. I cried and it was everything I hoped it would be and more.
Series Value
I would love to read more from this series. I loved the characters and the various realms were so masterfully crafted. I’d love novellas or even more full length novels about my favorites. I think this world and this series have so much to offer.
Final Thoughts
This conclusion was everything I wanted. It was the perfect end to a series that I am so glad I stumbled upon on Instagram.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Recommendations for Further Reading
Daughter of the Pirate King and Daughter of the Siren Queen by Tricia Levenseller – although Before the Broken Star is not a tale of pirates, a large portion of it takes place on the sea and travelling. Also, Alosa and Riden remind me so much of Everley and Jamison.
Everless and Evermore by Sara Holland – I think these books are similar to Before the Broken Star because of the time element. Everley constantly worries about living on borrowed time and not knowing when her time will run out. The setting of Everless has an interesting take on life, immortality, and the idea of borrowed time.
Dark Breaks the Dawn and Bright Burns the Night by Sara B. Larson – this is another story with an interesting concept of time. Also, there are strong parallels between the plot through elements such as romance, curses, and family legacies.
READ THIS SERIES!!
Thank you Netgalley and Skyscape for this eARC!
Wow. What can I say I loved books one and two in the trilogy and EverAfter Song did not disappoint. From a strong female heroine named Everly with a clock for a heart to the wide array of friends she has gained along the way some other strong females like her dear friends who love each other the Cat and the Fox to Vevina and Quinn a child who has grown into herself, and lastly an elf born male who uses a glamour to show the world her true self.
The world building in the series has been a wonder to read about and I am certain there are many more tales that this world could tell to keep me enthralled. For this book we were finally able to peer into the Silver-Clouded Plain and see into the life of the giants beyond the captain and Nelly.
Everly spends this book chasing her mortal enemy from one land to the next seeking justice for the destruction he has torn into her life, but also realizing that all of her friends are positives that have come from this. Given the chance to turn it all back she mourns the thought of losing the people that have been brought into her life. One of these people is of course Jamison who is a slow burn romance that we have been falling for since the first book even if he's claiming love at first sight. The heart always has a way of remembering and the sacrifice was made worth it.
Everley is on the run and has been accused of murder and sorcery. She would like nothing less than to prove her innocence, but in order to do that she must find Killian, the prince who has actually committed these crimes. Her pursuit of Killian leads her to the Silver-Clouded Plain where creatures long forgotten still exist. Everley continues to have dreams of fighting and carnage, but her waking time is filled with even more threats against her clock heart and those she loves. Will Everley be able to outsmart Killian before time runs out?
Everafter Song is the final book in The Evermore Chronicles. This third story was easy to fall back into and the characters are even more fantastic and intriguing. King has wrapped up this adventure with some satisfactory endings, yet there are hints at the end of more stories to come. Of course, that is what life is, more story day after day. I recommend Everafter Song to everyone who read the first two books and if you haven’t read this series yet, what are you waiting for?

I've been lucky enough to get to read all three volumes of this trilogy via Netgalley as they've been published over the course of this year, so it was great to get to the conclusion of the series. Evie's story comes to a satisfying conclusion, though an all too predictable happy end. There's a lot more giants and elves wreaking havoc in this one, and Father Time keeps being his bastardly self, which is always fun to read. Basically, if you enjoyed the first two, keep reading and you won't regret it. It's a fun and easy read!

In the last book in The Evermore Chronicles, Everley is so close to stopping Killian Markham, but he keeps slipping through her fingers. Time and time again she walks right into his traps, and he walks away with the lead. Everley must travel more than ever and get used to powers she didn't realize she had, and quickly so she can use them to gain advantage on Markham. Several endings have been foretold, and Everafter Song brings even new magical creatures - elves, giants, trolls, sea hags, etc into the fold. Everley is doing all she can to maintain the structure of the worlds and not allow Markham to rip them all apart. But will she have the strength to make the hard decision when it comes?
Alas, this trilogy is over. I am 100% DEAD over the ending. NO spoilers here, but man am I sad about it. Everafter Song is the end book you want to bring a magical and wild adventure to an end. And, my most hated characters got what was coming to them in the end - which is great. I flowed through this book all in one day because I just needed to know how the story ended and whether Everley was able to prevail and save the worlds.
The world-building in this series is insane. So insane, it was almost hard to keep straight at times. I did read these on my iPad, so assuming there is a map in the print books that would help keep track of the worlds. The concept of Father Time has been interesting throughout this story, even if I didn't always agree with their actions.
OH and we have a few quietly LGBTQIA characters. Multiple lesbian/gay/bisexual (not entirely clear but there were same sex relationships/interests) along with a transgender elf. I AM HERE FOR IT. Osric must be protected at all costs.
I just have to go back to the ending though. The end is really the kicker for me that pulled the rating down. I wish there had been a way to have a Happily Ever After ending, but I totally get why there wasn't. I just feel like King built such a bad-a character in Everley and the ending took all of that away from her.
Overall, I think if you like epic world-building, YA Fantasy, and some irredeemable characters please go check out The Evermore Chronicles!
Everly is nearing the end of her journey for revenge against Prince Killian. Force to make many hard decisions that impacts not only her own life but, everyone that she has ever met. I’ve adored this series and sad to see the end, but glad that the whole series finally all connected together and each piece of the puzzle was placed where destiny has decided.
I have absolutely adored this trilogy and now with this final instalment Everley has to make the ultimate sacrifice. She’s such a brave character and it’s been impossible not to like her as she constantly gets outmanoeuvred by the tricky Killian. Killian is without doubt a truly vile character who never hesitates in his plan to cheat time and enslave humans. His numerous crimes are heinous and include murder and even the death of a world. This time Everley has to chase him to the land where giants live but as giants find humans to be a tasty snack she really needs to catch up to him fast !
As much as this trilogy is about Everley it’s also a sweet ensemble piece with supporting characters that add so much to the background. The world building has been excellent and whilst it’s always felt perhaps historical there is actually technology in the realm of the giants which was a huge surprise. The author managed to include all the life forms from previous stories in this the final episode which made it feel that questions were answered.
Everley is the original Duracell bunny as she doesn’t know how to stop and she’s well matched by Killian who is one very confident and tricky elf. I did feel the ending was appropriate but perhaps I personally would have liked just a touch more because I’m left wondering what happened to several characters whom I’d grown quite fond of.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair.
This book was an absolutely amazing conclusion to a wonderful trilogy. I give Emily so much credit for pushing through and getting an entire trilogy published within a year! That's an outstanding feat and I'm sure it isn't easy.
Anyway, this book follows the story of Everly and how she must take on her role of Time Bearer, along with a myriad of other complications: including finding Killian Markam so he can pay for his crimes. I felt enveloped in this world from the first page and I read it in one sitting, since I couldn't put it down. I love Everly's character and she is truly a wonder to behold. She has to deal with so many different issues, both internally and externally, and she handles them in a way that really makes you feel for her.
My number one love for this book is the ending. I don't want to spoil, but while it was satisfying, it also had that bittersweet feeling to it. I appreciated the way the author handled the entire thing and I felt happy when I read the last page. Her sacrifices are difficult but she does all this as she comes into her new identity.
This series is so unique and I found that is what I enjoyed most about the story. It felt like nothing I've ever read before. I will definitely need to read Emily R. King's other books because her writing is simply enchanting. I highly recommend this book and series if you are looking for something different to read!
I received an advanced copy from the publisher via Netgalley for an honest review.
Wow. Just wow. Utterly speechless with tears in my eyes and so much feelings in my chest as I finished this novel. We pick up with a few months after where we ended with Into The Hourglass, Evie and her friends have taken refuge and have a simple life, albeit, in hiding, but they know it cannot last forever. As all of the group of friends are trying to heal from what occurred, they know that the battle is not over yet. As this beautiful story unfolds, we visit more new lands and get more answers to questions I did not even realize I had. This is an emotional journey that comes to an EPIC head with a Lord of the Rings style battle that will make you not want to put down. I just cannot even think of the words to explain how amazing this novel was and the wonderful journey these novels took me through. Bravo Emily, bravo.
I just love these books. I do think I enjoy them more as audio books but can't complain about this amazing series! I want to hold back on ranting about so much due to some heavy spoilers but if you haven't started these books by Emily King yet you should! Thank you NetGalley for an advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
I must say, I loved every book in this series!!!! Emily King did an excellent job writing this book. I could not put it down until I was finished!!!
With this book the Evermore Chronicles ends and that's kind of sad. This series was enjoyable to the last and I'd definitely recommend it.
Everafter Song starts with them wondering what will happen but thanks to a magic beanstalk Everley and her companions explore more worlds. This book gives us a true introduction to the giants and we find out more about their past. There was also more of the elves and everything to do with them.
This book was pretty fast paced but not a huge amount of romance again. It's understandable why but at least the ending gives you some very fluffy hope.
A great end to a great series.
This was a great final book in the series. After Everley cross over to so many worlds we finally find out what makes Killian tick. Why he is so keen on destroying everything and why he has done what he has. Pushing Everley to come to terms with father time and accept his help in ending Killian's reign of destruction in every life that he touched, but to win she must lose everything she holds dear.
Will they correct his wrongs? Or will all burn and be born again in his imagine?
This next installment in the Evermore Chronicles was one that I will not soon forget. I loved this one even more than book one and two. It had a fairytale feel way more than the other two titles and I loved it so much. This third and sadly finally story in this series is so full of action and one fantastic conclusion that I didn't see coming. If you have fallen so in love with King's writing then this one is going to blow you away! This one will make you fall for each character as King leaves all the stops behind in this story.
I absolutely loved this series! It's been so fun to read! Each book was peppered with influences from many different fairy tales, some more obvious than others. I loved seeing all the different inspirations throughout the series.
EVERAFTER SONG is the third and final book in this series, and it was an action packed, exciting conclusion. I thought it was the perfect ending. I really enjoyed how the author made you care about her whole cast of characters and not just the main ones. I even found myself understanding the villain's motivation and wondering if he wasn't in the right.
I can't wait to see what Emily R. King comes up with next.
This was my first book by this author, It was pretty enjoyable. I would give this book a 3.5 star rating! It was a pretty Quick and easy read!
What a sweet ending! This series captivated me with the first chapter of the first book. Enjoyable, easy read with romance and adventure.
Review of book 2: Excellent sequel. The plot continued at a fast pace, the storyline didn’t drop, the mystery deepened. I felt more invested in the characters as they developed. The magic and the imagery of the world is fascinating, I love the realm the author created for this story. I am very excited for the third installment which comes out this year.
Review of book 1: Great fantasy, enjoyable read. Highly recommend this new series, and all three books will be available this year, so no waiting!
I am sad to see this trilogy close. Everley is such an endearing character and I love the world King has built. Killian, the prince of elves, has a plan to wake the giants and only Everley can stop him. Her adventures see her dealing with many of the usual creatures of fantasy and few new ones beside. This was fast paced and engaging, a very satisfying conclusion.
This review is a tricky one to write. I have devoured the entire series, and loved the world building, the characters, and the slow burn romance. About half way through this book, however, I suddenly realised how it was going to end. I understand WHY King has decided on this ending, but I have to be honest, it's a pet hate of mine.
No spoilers, but it spoiled things a little for me.
I wanted to love it, and maybe when I give it a reread I'll feel differently.
