I do not normally read to much holiday before its time but this author and one other have caught my attention early in it. Whom would not want to eyeball a Santa in a kilt? I know that would be some scrumptious eye candy. This weaves its magic with using Kira and Shay as their tale unfolds before us causing us to rapidly turn the pages. Romance at its finest is set between these pages giving us holiday magic and bits of humor. also. Chemistry will bubble leading to fun trouble causing even the most stubborn to go down, haha! You will be ready for more treats by the time you finish this one leaving you with the best of tingles.
This is a novella--a Christmas novella--a Christmas novella that takes place in modern time on a small Scottish island. There are hunky Scottish men with brogues. Need I say more?
Seriously, this story has great characters and the main two come together in a way that was somewhat unusual and unique. Donna Kauffman always does a great job with the chemistry between her love interests, and Kira and Shay are a wonderful example of that. I always look for Christmas books that are going to keep my heart zinging and Santa in a Kilt certainly did that!
I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
Good story. Shay is a lawyer who specializes in divorce cases. As a result he sees the worst of what can happen to a relationship and has sworn that he will not succumb to one himself. The difficulty is that he has been attracted to Kira for a while and knows that she isn't the fling type of woman. When the attraction becomes mutual and overwhelming Shay's thoughts begin to contemplate the future but he is still scared of what could happen. I loved Kira's acceptance of his feelings and the way she was able to wait so patiently for him to come to terms with his love for her and what it means to him.
I first read Santa in a Kilt by Donna Kauffman in an anthology titled Unwrapped with stories also by Erin McCarthy and Kate Angell. I had bought that copy for Ms. Kauffman’s story which was the third in a series of Hot Scots. Shay Callaghan is still just as hot today.
Shay Callaghan and Kira McLeod are a lovely couple whose relationship really heats up after their friends’ wedding. They made an interesting couple who have strong chemistry but some different ways of looking at relationships. Christmas is the perfect time of magic, love and a change of mind to go along with the heart.
An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Confirmed Bachelor Shay callaghan cuz just watched his best friends get married, and what a wonderful time it has been perfect wedding for the perfect couple. Well he has his eye on Kira MacLeod, from afar the how long will that last.. living on a small island doesn't take them long the cross paths will this become a romantic
Couple or will it be something different well I don't want to tell you more because that's something that ruins the book .. this was a short sweet read pick up your copy check it out you will love it...❤❤ thank you Donna and netgally
For letting me read this book early I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did.
Shay and Kira’s story in Santa in a Kilt by Donna Kauffman is a wonderful and sweet story of two people wary of love and marriage. Shay is a divorce lawyer and sees relationships mainly after they have fallen apart. Kira returned to the isle of Kinloch after the end of her marriage, putting all of her energy into to her weaving projects. Although Shay is wary of marriage, it’s no secret how he looks at Kira; as if she were the only woman in the world. These two are totally attracted and the electricity between them could light all the homes on their island. Between witnessing two of their best friends marry during a romantic winter wedding and with the encouragement of islanders, Kira will definitely ignite Shay’s heart and weave the perfect path for him to trust her and her love.
Ms. Kauffman, a talented story teller, wrote a joyful, funny, tender sweet, and heartwarming tale that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sexual chemistry, amusing banter, and amazing characters giving Shay and Kira a chance for happiness, love and a future together. I highly recommend Santa in a Kilt to other readers.

Sexy Scottish Men
Divorce attorney Shay Callahan is leery of love. His cold blooded father wanted him to take over his divorce practice. He did and became even more disenchanted with marriage, after all he had a front seat to his parents' marriage.
Basket weaver Kira MacLeod, survivor of her own disastrous marriage, wasn't looking for love.
They were attendants at the latest marriage of their friends. They got together, only planning a short, pleasant get together, but ended up in an entirely different relationship.
Ms. Kauffman weaves a story of two broken individuals healing each other. Each makes the other see what they see....a wonderful person deserving the best.
I requested a NetGalley Arc to peruse and recommend it for romance fans, especially so if you love a sexy Scot.
A great short story that will warm your heart for the holidays. Set on the Isle of Kinloch, Shay is a divorce attorney who does not believe in happily ever after but he sees Kira at his friend’s wedding and knows she is the one. This was part of a series and I had not read the others but was able to enjoy this. Hot short story.
Oh sigh. This sweet novella is the story of Kira, a newly divorced woman, and Shay, a divorce lawyer who shies away from romance but when he sees Kira......Set in Scotland (delightful), it features a wedding, good characters, great dialogue (you might need to sound a few phrases out), and a delightful take on two people overcoming their histories. Heads up that this was published several years ago as part of an anthology and that is is part of a series. Don't worry about the latter- I hadn't read any of those novels and was perfectly fine with this. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. A happy read for a lazy day.
Santa in a Kilt is an entertaining romance. Good plot and believable characters. I highly recommend this book. My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my digital arc. This is my unbiased review.
4 - "I want nothing so much as I want you…" Stars!
I don’t feel like I can fully get into the Christmas spirit now without reading at least a couple of Donna Kauffman seasonal offerings before the big day. Santa in a Kilt is one such offering of hers I have read in this year’s build up, and as always it left me feeling all Christmassy, warm and sparkly!
”You’ve only been here but a moment and this place already feels more like home…”
"…It only took a moment to know it’s a home with you that I want."
Confirmed bachelor Shay Callaghan has watched his two best friends get wed and settle into happily married bliss, believing he is incapable of that sort of relationship with a woman, so he makes do with appreciating Kira MacLeod from afar, but they live on a small island and it doesn’t take long for their paths to start crossing, on a regular basis, or for them to acknowledge the chemistry bubbling between them, but can they more on from casual to something more solid and committed.
"I don’t sleep well at all anymore when you’re not next to me…"
Short, sexy, sweet and satisfying, the author delivered again, and left me itching for more, I need to make time to read the previous books in this series like yesterday!
I was expecting a funny, romantic story with the title Santa in a Kilt and I did get that with some vivid sex scenes thrown in. Personally, I didn’t like the somewhat over emphasis on the Scottish dialogue.
Overall the book kept me engaged but not one of my favorite Christmas reads.
Thank you to NetGallery, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read and review this book for my true and honest opinion.
This was a novella between two people who have grown up together. Shay is a divorce attorney and has been soured on love. Kira is divorced and really likes Shay. The story starts off a bit slow and after all the details and relationships of their friends it begins to pick up. The story felt a bit rushed to me as Shay goes from not believing in love to being love struck. It was too fast of a swing for me and I would have loved to have more story. Also, the title of the story did not make much sense to me as it should have been “Lawyer in a Kilt”. Overall it was a nice story.
Good book but not exactly what I was expecting. For some reason because of the title I expected it to be a romantic comedy. It wasnt dark but it wasnt light either. Good book but just know going in its not a comedy. The ending was just right!
This story explores how what happens to us in childhood affects our decisions as adults.
Kira is the most open of the two, suffering through heartbreak and a divorce, yet not giving up on finding the love of her life. She has loved Shay from afar never thinking he could ever care. Shay had a rough childhood and believes there’s no such thing as happily ever after. Yet seeing his friends contentment, and Kira’s simple take-it as it comes attitude, helps Shay face the new possibilities that are right in front of him. An amazing look at how our attitudes can help influence and heal others who have had a troubled past
I received an arc from NetGalley in exchange for my volunteer review.
If you're looking for a sweet romance novel with passion, character growth, and hot accents-- look no further. You've arrived at just that! Shay and Kira have had the hots for each other but Shay never acted on it. Until he pops up at Kira's house one early morning and confesses his feelings for her, to both their surprise! Things get steamy from there and I live for it. Donna always balances these moments with a lot of character growth and story, so I really feel like she's the perfect author to dive into if you're new to the genre or don't want anything too "smutty" if you will. There's lots of steamy passion, but an equal amount of story. And the story is always beautiful. This was a short novel but I loved it (as I usually do!)
5 stars!

I had a hard time staying interested in this book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC from NetGalley.
Lovely festive read. It was a heart warming romance. It was a wonderful book to read. It was well written and flowed well.
Shay Callaghan is a divorce solicitor in Edinburgh, but lives part-time on Kinloch.. Never having had a loving home, it's hard for him to open his heart to the one woman he wants, The sexual attraction brings Kira and Shay together, only he's still afraid he can never commit for the rest of his life. A short contemporary romance about taking chances.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

This is a cute Christmas novella that is a fast read of romance. Shay doesn’t believe in love and but Kira does and he knows to be with her he needs to figure out what love really is.
I enjoyed the story and wish it has been a bit longer. I will say that as a fan of Kauffman I can see that she has grown in her writings over the last decade (originally published in 2011).
That being said still a cute highlander Christmas novella by Kauffman.
