Social Security in 30 Minutes is great for beginners and people who have a hard time with the basics of social security.

Not much more than an expanded SS pamphlet, I did not see any "tips and tricks," other than to document thoroughly and return forms quickly.

Overall, it was a good high level overview of SSA disability, but I felt more distinction could have been made between SSI and T2 Disability to explain that SSI is a federal welfare program. Computation, processing and funding are very different for SSI. The info provided is available on SSA.gov but can be difficult to extract when many don't understand the difference between the two disability programs.

Interesting book with a lot of details! Social Security in 30 Minutes, Volume 2: Disability Benefits by Emily Pogue throws a lot of information your way. It will be a great reference for me and my family.

I would have appreciated a table of contents so I could go directly to the sections I needed. I liked the personal touch with individual storys, it made it easier to understand situations, etc. I just wish, owing to personal circumstances that there was more information about applying for benefits for your child and more specifically, one with autism. Actually, I was surprised not to find any info regarding autism as there are so many of us on that journey. Perhaps it was referenced in Volume 1.

All in all a good reference book and one I expect I will be referring to in the future for our family and friends.

I was surprised to understand a lot of social security jargon that would normally sound Greek in a rather lengthy and intimidating letter/book that would actually come from the social security administration. This simplifies and separates a few misunderstandings I've had regarding all the acronyms the government is so fond of, specifically relating to aspects that concern retirement and/or disability, and the requirements or factors that may determine each case. I'm not suggesting I can retain every thing I read, but I now know I can come back to this book for a better comprehension of what the SSA might be saying or asking for. I found it easy to read, and beneficial on what I was looking for at this time.
I received an ARC thru Netgalley and am giving my honest feedback.

In my work as Co-Director of an employability program for people with disabilities, one of the biggest concerns of those we support are questions around how working will impact their Social Security benefits. This short guide is informative, well written, and chock full of easy-to-understand details about the labyrinthine benefits world. I'll be sharing much of this information with the families we support. A must-read for anyone who desires to know more about the process.

Social Security in 30 Minutes is a great overview for beginners or those looking for a little bit more guidance when applying for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and/or Supplemental Security Income (SSI). The book goes over the difference between the two, eligibility requirements, documents needed when applying, information about what your earnings may be and information about working while applying as well as when receiving cash benefits. It's a clear, easy to understand book with practical tips to make the process of applying for benefits a little bit less complicated. Thank you to Netgalley and i30 Media Corp.for an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
