This was an alright book. I read it to my almost 11 month son. I didn't really understand the point of the story and it was so short. I probably wouldn't recommend to anyone.

I first read this book by myself and then to my almost 4 year old granddaughter. I think that the illustrations are interesting and beautiful in their own way. They did not appeal to my granddaughter, the idea of a tiny person didn't peak her interest.

There were actually some things I did not like at all in the book. It showed some dangerous things that a child could get into, right from the start. There are scissors shown and a tube of toothpaste squeezed on the floor. There is a candle with a book of matches, the little girl uses what looks like a pin to first come close to the cat, is this how we would want a child to approach any animal? Those things alone are not things that any parent would encourage a child to "discover". Then there was the fact that she went on "quests and adventures beyond the front door", again not a good example for a little one.

I have given the book two stars simply because of the illustrations. I could't encourage the purchase of this book. The blurb for the book states that it is about courage, imagination and friendship.I didn't really see any courage demonstrated in this book and it was a disappointment.

This is an adorable children's book about a tiny person, standing about as tall as an average tea cup, living in, exploring, and having fun in someone's home. As a child, I loved stories of little people like this and the child still in me really enjoyed reading this book. The illustrations in this book appear to have been drawn by pencil and colored pencils, and they are so cute!

This was a cute book about fear. I liked the pictures and the text flowed nicely. I don't know why the girl was so tiny, so that aspect didn't make sense to me. But it was cute still.

A tiny little girl spends her days exploring every nook and cranny that her home has to offer soon finds herself being followed by a mysterious shadow. She laments, "must I hide now forever?" But instead of resigning to her fear, she turns and faces it head on, only realize that sometimes the thing we fear turns out to be not so negative after all.

I loved reading this to my toddler. The illustrations are beautiful- they are sweet and simple and match the succinct story perfectly. What I appreciated is, despite the short length of the story, the little girl asks herself if her fears mean that she has to change her life around to never have to confront the shadow she is afraid of. The author immediately gets to the heart of the fear- not being able to be yourself and do what you love in your universe. The girl decides that that reality is not worth it, and ventures out to change her reality. The depiction of emotional intelligence is pared down for young readers to grasp the concept. And the reader is delighted when the shadows become clearer and clearer to reveal a cat, who soon becomes best friends with the girl. Little readers can see the result of confronting their fears. This is a book I would love to own for our home collection!

Best for 2-5 year old readers.

This picture book very much has a Borrowers-vibe to it. I like when the dark shadow is introduced (and how it progressively gets a little more obvious as to what it is!) Has a cute ending with the new shadow introduced on the final page.

A Little Courage by Taltal Levi is a sweet little picture book that any child could enjoy. It follows a tiny girl as she explores her normal-sized house as usual, though today, something new happens. A fury shadow follows her along and she has to decide whether it is friend or foe. The story is accompanied by cute illustrations, and it seems as if there may be a follow-up based on the last page so I am looking forward to that.

I found this book really delightful. My daughter loved it even more. It is a simple picture book with gorgeous illustrations. Every child will enjoy a story about a tiny little girl who bravely plays with the things found in any household!

Any child would like this book and it would be a great classroom and library addition.

A tiny, little girl is frightened by a dark, scary shadow. Once she realizes that she must investigate or be relegated to a boring life of hiding. She gets the courage to confront the object. In doing so, she makes a new friend. Her new friend, cat, joins her in finding new and fun adventures.

The story is short but interesting. It shows that sometimes they turn out to be very good. I really liked the primarily black and white illustrations with strategic placement of yellow, orange, green, coral and blue mixed in.

A Little Courage
by Taltal Levi is a cute short story about a very tiny girl who conquerors her fear. The minute I read this story it made me think of The Borrowers. I read this book to my two granddaughter's who are One & Two . I also read it to my 5 year old daughter. Two of them were laughing at what the shadow really was. It's a good story about being scared but brave, and the lessons are pretty clear. My granddaughter that is almost 3 has just entered the phase where she's scared of alot of things so I love reading books like this to her. The pencil drawn illustrations were cute, just wish they had been in color . The girls loved going on the adventure with Taltal and would love to read more of her adventures. It was short enough yet long enough to hold their attention.
The ending was kind of a cliffhanger so perhaps the author will write more. Many thanks to the Publisher , the Author , and NetGalley for a ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. A tiny "Borrower"-esque girl lives in a potted plant and loves to explore the surrounding area. She finds lots of treasures but one day she notices that she's being watched by something or someone.

I really love stories like this. It reminds me of the Borrowers and I used to love seeing how they made their homes out of regular objects. The cat is also super cute and I love that they form a bond.

The illustrations in this book were wonderful! It was a cute story, and talked about having courage in a way kids will understand.

A teeny-tiny, tea cup sized, little girl rises with the sun and spends her day playing with the curious treasures that she stumbles upon in her house. A glass of water becomes her swimming pool, she has adventures in the stems and leaves of a plant, and she tries to keep her balance on a roll of toilet paper as it rolls along, just to name a few. The little girl suddenly discovers that she is being followed by a huge, dark, scary shadow. She is frightened and protects herself by hiding herself away from the monstrous predator's eyes.

She finally musters up the courage to come out of her hiding spot and face her enemy head on. She discovers that the dark shadow has soft fur and makes a purring sound that seems melodious, not vicious. Should she approach the creature trusting her instincts that he is really gentle and nice?

She makes a decision in the affirmative and her choice of dispelling her fears pays off big time.

The illustrations are detailed, done in a limited colour pallet, and fun. The message of the book is that fear can be conquered if you courageously step forth and confront it. The author adds a cliff hanger at the end which kids will love I'm sure. I love open ended stories that lead to opinions and discussions as to what may come next. I like the book a lot and I highly recommend it.

A cute story about a little girl being creative and going on adventures around her house. She demonstrates both creativity and courage in her play time. The illustrations were nice. I wish there could have been a couple more individual adventure examples before coming upon the cat.

A playful simple story of choosing courage and curiosity to better experience the world. The illustrations are delightful.

Taltal Levi’s A Little Courage is a cute story of a tiny girl finding courage as she explores her surroundings. Lovely illustrations. Though I didn’t feel the story itself deeply explored her courageousness, it was a nice jumping off point to talk to my children about what they can do when they’re scared to do something or of something.

I adore this. Levi has such a good sense for color and the subtle and beautiful way color can interact with grayscale. The illustration work alone won me over, so when I noticed the Moomin reference and when the shadow was revealed to be a cat, my love for this little book tripled.

The only thing I'm not a fan of is the stark black font used for the writing--it doesn't look very good with the soft illustrations.

I liked the elements of friendship and adventure but felt it could have had something more...the plot could have had more weight. Beautiful illustrations

In this picture book, a very tiny little girl explores in a house.  For example, she is so little that she can ride in a toilet paper tube.  She is having fun until...a big shadow looms.  She is brave, finds out whose shadow it is and makes a friend.

This is a simple, cute book that those who feel small or afraid in their world may enjoy.  The illustrations are a bit muted, fun and go well with the text.
