An interesting story, well developed and well written. Engaging from the start. Captivating, told at a good pace.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of this book. This is my honest review. My opinions are my own.
I LOVED this book!! Its action packed from beginning to end and so descriptive that you see yourself fighting alongside Jenny.
The translation is also very well done by Astrid Freuler.
I also like the details in the beginning of how German police and politics work.
I read the 1st book In The Dark and I thought it was very good but this 1 is even better.
"Happiness makes us blind....but pain enables us to see."
"When sighted people wake up in the morning, it gets light. For Aaron it gets dark"
Jenny Aaron was a covet special ops agent who was badly injured while she was chasing Ludger Holm. The shot to the head cost her her sight but this did not stop her from hunting him down and killing him.
She is struggling with her own demons but thought this part of her life was put to rest with his death. Then she finds out he left her 2 billion dollars. She knows this is a trap but why?! She is determined to find out the truth. Will she survive this ordeal? And what an ordeal it is! It leaves you breathless!
I love the main character and her never give up attitude. It is also so interesting to "view" the events unfolding through her use of her senses. You can see the author did very good research on how blind people use their senses to navigate every day life.
I can't wait to read more books by this author. He is definitely on my favourite authors list!
Thank you so much to #doverpublications and #netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
I read this one first because it was an ARC from NetGalley, but strongly recommend beginning with In the Dark since the incidents in In the Dark make understanding the plot in A Shadow Falls much easier to comprehend.
The man responsible for Jenny's blindness, Ludger Holme, has given her a dubious gift. Jenny knows that it is a trap, but nevertheless plans to see it through because there is a puzzle she is compelled to unravel.
Accompanied by Pavlik, Jenny goes to Marrakesh to set the ball rolling, realizing the danger, but willing to find out more about her father's death.
Lots of action, more flashbacks, memories, and dream sequences. Twisting, complex, and ultimately engrossing.

There are already a lot of (German) reviews for this on Goodreads. I'll just say this is pretty good. Having not read the previous book, I probably didn't enjoy it as much as I might have. But it is still engaging, and has plenty of action, interesting situations, and good dialog. Recommended for thriller fans.
I really appreciate the NetGalley advanced copy for review!!
