Shaw Sinclair grew up under the brutal thumb of his wastrel uncle who sold the Sinclair lands to the Campbells. Shaw takes his duties as chief of the Sinclair clan seriously and is determined to protect his people at all costs. His fears for their welfare are well-founded so when the chance to reclaim his lands and guarantee health and safety for his people is offered, he jumps on it. All he has to do is deliver a very important newborn to the coast where she’ll be taken to France. But when the baby is delivered to Shaw, starving and clearly in imminent danger, Shaw knows he and his trusted warriors are going to need help. Chance throws him in the path of Alana Campbell and when her problem-solving skills and kind heart show she’d be perfect to help with the baby, Shaw kidnaps then bargains with her to gain her assistance. Their journey is fraught with danger as they work together to care for and defend the child in their care. Threats they expect, but their mutual attraction is something neither could anticipate. Sinclairs and Campbells are enemies, so there’s no way anything could happen between Shaw and Alana. Is there?

The Highland Outlaw is an exciting, engaging ride thanks to its two leads. Alana and Shaw have great personalities and fantastic chemistry, making the pages of their story fly by.

Alana has a generous heart, a spine of steel, and a deadly aim. She’s exactly the kind of heroine I enjoy and I liked her resourcefulness and spirit. As for Shaw, he’s a chieftain desperate to save his people and will go to great lengths to do so. He’s also as protective as they come and has more honor than he gives himself credit for. He and Alana clash, then become allies in the name of protecting the baby in their charge, and then they become something much more. Their dialogue made me smile, their romance made me sigh, and the way they cared for their vulnerable charge absolutely melted my heart. I loved every bit of Alana and Shaw’s journey and hated it whenever I had to put The Highland Outlaw down because I so wanted them to get their happily ever after.

Feuding clans aren’t the only problem in Shaw and Alana’s way. There are also the men hunting the child they’re sworn to protect, whose origins I’ll leave readers to discover. Alana and the Sinclair warriors with her are outgunned and outnumbered, but I’ll put my money on these fearsome Highlanders any day of the week. And though I must be purposefully vague so as to avoid spoilers, I enjoyed how the secrets, questions of loyalty, and various plots unfolded over the course of the book. Author Heather McCollum balanced the action and the romance perfectly there was never a dull moment in this book.

The Highland Outlaw is the fourth book in the Campbells series, but it can easily be read as a standalone. I’ve adored every single outing with the Campbell clan and the Highland Roses School, where women are taught everything from reading to self-defense. Alana and Shaw’s story is no exception and I dearly hope Ms. McCollum has more adventures in store for the Highland Roses. Ms. McCollum’s strong, compassionate, and skilled heroines and the brave, protective warriors who love them are always a draw for me.

Alana and Shaw's characters were entertaining throughout the read bringing smiles and gasps intermittently. The secondary characters of the Sinclair Clan also held court in the read that captures readers attention. Another good story in the series by Heather McCollum.

Shaw is doing what he must to get is former home restored to his clan. He must take a baby to St. Andrews but when the wet nurse dies, he needs help. Alana is taken to help on the journey but in truth she wants to go to rescue her mother. Soon sparks are fly between Shaw and Alana, can they both complete their missions? Fast-paced historical read with loads of drama and suspense. This read and the characters really draw you into the story and feel as if you are on their journey with them. I was hooked from beginning to end on this highland read. I loved it.

This is a great series and I really enjoyed this story. There was plenty of action and passion, Shaw Sinclair was an honourable man who was trying to recover his lands for his clan. He had suffered as a child from an abusive relation. Alana Campbell, a member of the Highland School of Roses, was able to defend herself, but was outnumbered when Shaw kidnapped her. I enjoyed the way their relationship developed. However, there was some information that Alana (and the reader) were unaware of. Would this knowledge make a difference to their connection? There were some very tense moments, when I was holding my breath! There are a number of villains to add that bit of excitement. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a very exciting book by one of my favorite authors. Ms McCollum writes a beautiful story of two people who are enemies who become lovers. The characters seem real with thoughts and feelings of their own.
I just love those brawny highlanders who wear their plaid so well.
Shaw Sinclair, chief of clan of Sinclairs of Caithness, is considered an outcast in northern Scotland. He has made a deal with people who will give back his lands if he does a secret mission. He finds himself in a quandary. .Shaw meets a lovely lady at a Samhain Festival by the name of Alana Campbell. She is bonny and decides she's the one.
Alana only wants to show her family that she can be skillful with a sgian dubh as any other person. She attracts the attention of Shaw who wants her to comply to help him with his secret mission which includes a baby!
Oh, let the sparks fly when they are forced to act like husband and wife to protect their precious bundle.
But secrets have a way of coming out, and it will take courage for Shaw and Alana to keep their love from being torn apart.
I appreciate New Galley for this ARC title in which I gave an hones review.

Another Highland adventure that doesn't stop until the last page is turned. Heather McCollum has immersed us into the Scottish Highlands in 1685 and takes us on a journey to deliver a precious infant to safety without anyone knowing what Laird Shaw Sinclair carries.
As the first scene opens, we find Alana Campbell with a small group of Highland Rose school students making their way to the annual Samhain Festival at the base of Beinn Nibheis. There was a saber toss going on and all the girls were agog at the brawn highlanders. One stood out "He was broad and towering, the muscles obvious in his bare arms where dark lines formed a picture on his tan skin. He wore a kilt and a sleeveless tunic...". Yes, yes I can visualize that, looking at the cover and sighing....
Oh, sorry I digress! They figured out he had to be Shaw Sinclair, the chief who had won his lairdship when his horrible uncle had died ten years ago. But they needed to stay as far away from the Sinclairs as possible. Famous last words because it was not to be.
Shaw was given the duty of delivering a bairn to the coast to be taken to safety in France. The problem was he had lost the wet nurse and trying to get the baby to feed was not going well. Alana ended up helping him get her fed and he determined she would be just the one to help him keep the babe well.
Another awesome story full of danger, intrigue, great dialogue and characters that you get to know and love. Prepare to sit awhile and fall in love with Shaw and Alana. Thanks Heather!!

The Highland Outlaw by Heather McCollum
The Campbells #4

Absolutely what I needed to read yesterday! I fell in love with Shaw and admired Alana – they were perfect for each other! Beginning with a caber toss and ending with a wedding with a kidnapping, baby to care for, bad guys to deal with, secrets exposed and potential for a spin-off series to do with the Clan Sinclair it was a delight from the first page to the last!

The Sinclairs have lost their castle and their land and Shaw, as the laird of the clan, has spent years trying to get it all back for his people. When he is given the opportunity to do so by delivering a newborn to a boat by taking it overland he of course jumps at the chance. So, what could go wrong? He needs a bit of help from more than his men at arms to get the baby from point A to point B and Alana just happens to be handy...whether she is willing or not.

The trip draws the two closer together as they care for the tiny girl. Shaw learns a great deal about babies and also about women who have attended the Highland Roses School. Alana is intelligent and realizes she can use the opportunity of caring for the baby to her own advantage as she has an agenda or her own. The road is not easy not only due to the fragility of taking care of a baby but also because there are military men out to murder the child. So, daggers and swords and punches are definitely a part of this story.

What I liked:
* Alana – what a strong woman she was and so able to state what she wanted and then go for it
* Shaw – a good man with a horrible childhood who always put his clan first
* The way the romance develops between Shaw and Alana
* The men that traveled with Shaw
* The writing, plot and way it made me feel while reading
* The fact that I won’t have to say goodbye to all of the characters due to the spin-off that is coming

What I did not like:
* The bad guys...as I was supposed to
* The lengths those bad guys would go to to get what they wanted

Did I enjoy this book? Definitely
Will I read more by this author? Without a doubt

Thank you to NetGalley, Entangled – Amara and InkSlinger PR for the ARC = This is my honest review.

The Highland Outlaw by Heather McCollum is book 4 in The Highland Outlaw Series. This is the story of Alana Campbell and Shaw Sinclair. I have read the previous books but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so. Shawn is the chief of outcast clan of Sinclairs of Caithness. Once his father died his Uncle took over the Lair position which Shawn and his siblings ending up being mistreated leaving scars on the inside and outside. But now he is the chief of outcast. When he is promised to get what he has lost back if he gets a royal baby to to a boat in St. Andrews, he takes that chance. But he finds that the baby girl has lost her wet nurse and he ends up kidnapping Alana. Alana puts up a fight at first until she learns where they are going which suits her needs too, but then she starts having feeling for Shawn and the baby.
Loved their story.

Another wonderful story in the Campbell book series, this being #4, Alana Campbell and Shaw Sinclair are fabulous characters and the humour and action along with the chemistry makes this an unputdownable read.

Shaw Sinclair, chief of the outcast clan of Sinclairs of Caithness in northern Scotland, has made a deal with the devil.
Alana Campbell is ready to show the world she's just as skillful with a sgian dubh as any man. Attracting the attention of the brawny chief who coerces her to join him on his journey to the coast of Scotland gives her that very opportunity.
Heather McCollum doesn't disappoint me as a reader. Like all of the books in this series I very much enjoyed fast paced this read.
If you like brawny Scottish warriors and courageous lasses you'll love this book and this series.
I gave this book 4.5 of 5.0 stars.

A thoroughly enjoyable story, with strong characters and an interesting plot. The ending was very clever, I had wondered how the author was going to handle it for a happy ending for all concerned. I also thought the novel gave the reader a good flavour of Scotland. I haven’t read any of the previous books in this series and I can honestly say that this can be read as a standalone. I will be looking to read more by this author.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I'm a stickler for reading a series in order, so I started at the beginning for this one. I enjoyed the previous books immensely but this one, this one is my favourite.
I absolutely loved Shaw and Alana. Separate and together. They both were willing to do anything for what they believed in. Shaw for his family and clan. Alana learning to defend herself if the need ever arose again, which it did. The side characters were all incredible as well. The Sinclair's and the Roses, all Highland warriors in their own way.
This story was action packed with daggers and swords, secrets and lies and some twist and turns thrown in.
I received an advance readers copy for an honest review.

The moment Shaw Sinclair stepped onto the page, he landed right in my heart!

The Highland Roses are no delicate, wilting flowers. These young ladies have been taught everything they need to know to stand on their own and take care of themselves, and each other. I loved the initial meeting between Alana and the brawny highlander, Shaw. His respect for her was quietly understated yet clear as can be. From that point on, the action never stops as these two fight to keep a baby safe and stay one step ahead of the unknown enemy.

This is an intricately-detailed story that spans most of Scotland and is steeped in Scottish history. The romance between Shaw and Alana was intense, yet sweet and soul-satisfying on every level. I loved the way the rest of the Highland Roses were incorporated into the story. This book was a fabulous romantic adventure, and I was completely hooked all the way to the HEA. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Shaw Sinclair, chief of the outcast clan of Sinclairs of Caithness in northern Scotland, has made a deal with the devil. Despite his strength and lethal skills, he needs help specifically from a woman to accomplish his mission to bring a baby to safety to the coast at St Andrews. When he meets the brave and beautiful Alana Campbell at a Samhain Festival, he decides she's the one.
Alana Campbell is captured & coerced to join Shaw & his men to the coast of Scotland
This was a fast paced book that sometimes had you on the edge of your seat. Shaw was desperate to win his lands back for his clan. Alana one of the instructors at the Highland Roses school didn’t take being coerced well but somewhere along the journey the pair fell in love. There were crosses & double crosses along the way & all the while Shaw was keeping a secret, which could tear apart his budding romance. This is the fourth book in the series & it could easily be read on its own but to fully appreciate it I recommend reading the earlier books. I was captivating by the book & was left wanting more & also I had questions I wanted answering so hopefully there will be more books to come
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Laird Shaw Sinclair, chief of a disgraced northern clan, has the opportunity to regain his family's rightful lands and castle, lost to Clan Campbell by his incompetent uncle. To reach his goal he must see a baby girl safely to the Scottish coast so she can be whisked away to France. But Shaw is a warrior and knows nothing about babies. He needs female help and when he meets Alana Campbell at a Samhain Festival, he decides she's perfect for the job and kidnaps her.

Sister to the Campbell Chief, Alana is determined to prove herself just as capable as any man. When she is obliged to accompany Chief Sinclair on his trip to the coast, Alana decides to take advantage of the opportunity to get closer to Edinburgh where she's just learned her mother is being held prisoner. Sparks fly between these two on the dangerous journey, but they remain enemies and with secrets between them that could be even more detrimental to their future, they must determine the true depth of their feelings and where their priorities lie.

This book was quite a rollercoaster of betrayal and loyalties and was a very good enemies-to-lovers story. I wound up really enjoying both Shaw and Alana and wishing the roses students would go away so I could have more time with just the couple. I really enjoyed this addition to the series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Fill with action, angst and drama, Highland Warrior was whirlwind read. Shaw, our tough-as-nails hardened Scottish warrior, kidnaps our heroine, Alana, so she can help him care for a newborn that's not his but a secret child he must transport out of the country. Between English soldiers trying to kill them, two hard-headed characters pretending to be husband-and-wife to make it through small villages, and trying to raise a newborn (as in less than 2 weeks old) on cow milk, these two characters go from enemies to lovers. So many lies were laid down between the characters that it kept the reader guessing if they'd be walking away from each other or staying together. Each had their own goals and had to decide if those goals were flexible in the face of love.
Loved how independent both these characters were. The historical facts in the book were intriguing, and I have tremendous respect for the amount of research that this book must have required.
It's been so long since I read a book from this genre. I thoroughly enjoyed my foray back into this type of read.
Drama, angst, action and hot Scottish warriors...makes for one you-shouldn't-miss-read book!

I have very much enjoyed this series and this story was no different. Set in the Highlands we meet Shaw. He has been given the task of caring for a bairn and getting her to a boat with her wet-nurse. By doing so he may actually get everything he has lost back.

We met Alana in the previous series and now we get her story. Alana finds out her mother is alive and wants to get to Edinburg to rescue her. On the road to her mother she is taken hostage by Shaw to care for the bairn. Once she finds out they are going the same direction she allows the “kidnapping” to happen.

I found this story a fun, crazy, interesting read. I loved the connection that Alana found with Shaw but also with the baby.

A great read for any fan of Highlanders.

We are reunited once again with some of the lasses from The Highland Roses School, a rare for its era learning ground that teaches young women to read, write, and how to protect themselves in dangerous situations. Yeah, yielding a dagger and using super sharp hair pins seem to be their weapons of choice. You have to work with what you’ve got, folks. What can I say? Stilettos haven’t been invented yet. Otherwise, they likely would have found those pointy heels useful, as well.

Alana, the heroine, especially has a unique skill set when it comes to accuracy in hitting her mark. Of course, she found herself outnumbered when Shaw decides to borrow her to accomplish an important task to secure the future of his people. Such a rash, bold decision does not come without consequences though. It was just his luck to discover she is from a rivalry, enemy clan after the fact.

Their journey is slow paced in parts yet danger does pop up from time to time putting them on edge and on the run from bad guys. It gives them plenty of time to develop feelings for one another and bond over a common goal. Alana is seemingly quick not to judge Shaw, despite the animosity between their clans, but he is hiding a big secret. He seems verra determined to complete his task and won’t be swayed, yet obviously is not applying that same will power in finding a way for them to stay together. In fact, they both seemed resigned to reluctantly walking away when the job is done. I must admit my enthusiasm for a couple often gets dampened when I see they aren’t fighting for love from the get go.

Will the secret/big reveal rip the trust and affection Alana now feels for this verra handsome, brawny lad to shreds? Or will she decide to focus on the future and not let the past destroy their love? You’ll have to stay tuned and read it for yourself, my fellow Scottish romance book loving friends.

Just know I did enjoy seeing this main couple get their HEA. However, it was verra slow paced enough I started to wonder when it was going to wrap up. At least it lead to a lot of couple time together.

The Highland Outlaw (The Campbells Book #4) by Heather McCollum is a heart-pounding, heart racing tale of danger, love, romance and keeping a Royal baby safe. While #4 in this series, it can be read as a stand alone.
Meet, Shaw Sinclair chief of the clan Sinclair, of Caithness in Northern Scotland and an outcast. And, the beautiful and skilled Alana Campbell. They meet at a Samhain Festival, where they promptly kidnap Alana, to help with saving the baby. Of course Alana's wolfhound, Robert, follows his mistress everywhere. Sparks fly between Alana and Shaw, and things get really complicated. A romp though Scotland with a royal baby turns into a struggle to survive.
Steady paced, well written and well excuted. The cast of characters will steal your heart, they are engaging, endearing, and entertaining.
The storyline flows seamlessly and effortlessly, plus is captivating and compelling.
A well thought-out story where danger surrounds them. With, mystery, intrigue, suspense, loyalty, brawn highlanders, skilled lass, love, and romance, readers will be turning pages as they follow Shaw, Alana, Robert (the wolfhound), and a royal infant, as they journey through Scotland's the countryside. Once again, Ms. McCollum has written a well developed story that will blow readers away, and keep them on the edge of their seat. Heather McCollum is talented storyteller. A must read for fans of Historical Romance, adventure, brawn highlanders, skilled and determined lass, the power of love and finding peace and truth. WOW! Awesome Scottish Romance.

Another wonderful Highland Rose has found her mate. Alana is a fierce warrior determined to never be vulnerable again. As she and the Roses attend Samhain she is taking stock of a fierce Sinclair warrior that has garnered her attention. Shaw is the Sinclair Chief and his sole focus and mission is to keep the baby alive in order to reclaim his family lands. He is struggling to care for the babe and kidnaps Alana for help.

This is a fast paced story with fun characters and an amazing dog who shows up unexpected everywhere. There is plenty of action as they battle the English enemy soldiers. Alana and strikes a bargain for the journey but the heat between them cannot be ignored. They are constantly battling to stay alive but that doesn’t prevent them from fulfilling their desires. The Roses show once again that they are group to be reckoned with as they come to Alana’s rescue. You will enjoy turning the pages as all is revealed and another Rose blossoms.
