Danielle Steele wrote a riveting tale of the human soul and its moral compass. Do you pick friendship or what is right? Well done!

Danielle Steel once again has managed to write yet another novel that is well deserving of five stars! As is common for this author, the novel not only captures the characters so perfectly, but also places them in realistic, emotional, and sensitive situations that entices the reader to continue page after page eagerly and expectantly. Her writing is easy and smooth, and her style is welcoming and comforting.

I was a big fan of hers years ago but lost interest when her novels weren't as gripping to me anymore, and I found myself feeling as if they were all too predictable and depressing. After joining Netgalley and reading a summary of one her newer novels, I found myself very intrigued and requested a galley. I was granted access and after some preliminary doubt, I became quickly enticed and couldn't put the book down. I have since requested and read many of her galleys and am now a big fan of hers again! Her styke has changed to be more similar to Jodi Picoult (another favorite author of mine) and I am thrilled!

Moral Compass is one of those novels that reminds me of a Jodi Picoult novel - the relatable characters, the sensitive topics, and the strong pyschological and emotional undercurrents all blend together to create what I bet will be a top selling novel!

Danielle Steel deals with a serious issue in Moral Compass. These issues are definitely ones that teens deal with in the real world these days. I was sort of surprised by the way this one ended, especially having read tons of Danielle Steel books previously, but that doesn't mean that it ended in a bad way.

At Saint Ambrose Prep, they have always been an elite boys school, but now someone has the bright idea to allow females to attend the school. Some of the older school officials are just waiting for the switch to blow up. Move in day and the first days of school go off without a hitch. The wealthy of both boys and girls send their kids to Saint Ambrose for the best possible education so that they can get into those elite Ivy colleges that they have always dreamed of.

Things are going well until they have their annual Halloween party at the school. Some of the boys sneak off with some liquor, knowing that they could get caught. The boys might have gotten away with everything if it hadn't have been for a female student joining the boys and getting dangerously drunk. Not only did the female get wasted, but one of the boys decided it would be a good idea to rape her while she was wasted. When the female is out cold, all the boys disappear thinking that they can just call someone to come find her and they would never be connected with what had happened. WRONG!!!

This story goes to show you how little things that you don't think about at the time of being in a panic to cover stuff up can get you in some deep trouble that you aren't going to be able to lie about to get yourself out of. Matter of fact, lying about the whole situation gets the boys into more trouble than what they probably would have been in if they had just told the truth.

With the boys facing some serious charges now, they have to make a choice of whether to do what is right and go back and tell the truth or just let their initial statement go forward. I was shocked at how some of the boys had to overcome what their parent's were telling them to do. This just goes to show you that not everyone has a moral compass that they listen to.

I thought Danielle Steel did a great job dealing with this real life situation and showing how lying never gets you anywhere. This would be a great read for young boys and girls to show how one little slip-up can change your life. Very different for Danielle Steel, but a great read as well!

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book and all opinions are my own. Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for an advanced copy of this book.

As always, Danielle Steel is spot on with every book she writes. Her tempo and realism are what keep me coming back for more
This one, though, was a bit of a departure from her typical storyline. It was intense and I loved it. She tackles the topic of a campus rape and the aftermath. The influence of money, power and priveledge abounds in the story and is even sickening at times....although you know deep down it doesn't depart from reality.
Five stars for Moral Compass. Highly recommended.

Danielle Steel never fails to satisfy a reader's heart with her powerful storytelling voice that captures every aspect of a character's mind, heart and soul. With her latest release MORAL COMPASS she takes her reader through a journey of acceptance, denial and consequence. The first chapter wallops quite a punch of characters to keep straight, but once the story line truly begins, it's easy to follow and delivers an emotional plot. I couldn't put it down!

Saint Ambrose Preparatory School has an excellent reputation for developing powerful minds who go on to pedigreed educational endeavors and prestigious careers. After more than two centuries of being a male only student body, the first 140 female enrollees are walking through the hallowed doors for the first time.

A Halloween night alcohol fueled adventure leads to one student being in the hospital near death and the lives of those involved being changed forever. The questions of who will step forward to tell what happened and lead to the capture of who assaulted her weaves a powerful story with people and lives being changed forever.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys an in depth story of secrets, lies and corruption. It was obviously light on the romance aspect because of the sensitive nature of the book, but the character nuances and emotional upheaval were spot on.

Saint Ambrose Preparatory, an exclusive boarding school in Massachusetts catering to the wealthy, has enrolled one hundred and forty female students for the new academic year. A traditionally boys-only school, this progressive change was met with some resistance from faculty and alumni. Many of students come from privileged families and carry burdens from their parents' acrimonious divorces. The school strives to be a nurturing place where the students may thrive as they aim to achieve their personal best.

One night after the annual Halloween party an unthinkable event happens that changes the school forever. A female student is unconscious in the hospital. Students, teachers, and faculty struggle to put the pieces together to figure out how it happened. Meanwhile, the police and media are in a desperate search to find the person who attacked her. As clues are uncovered, the students who were involved in the incident must hire attorneys. No one is safe from scrutiny, including the victim.

Moral Compass is a realistic look at the consequences of one drunken night. Various viewpoints from the police, students, parents, and faculty provide a realistic representation of a real-life problem. The story flows effortlessly providing a most compelling read. As an avid reader of Steel's books, I found this new release one of her best novels to date. A good choice for a book club discussion, Moral Compass addresses current issues in the most authentic way.

Moral Compass is a compelling story about how one night changes the lives of a group of students and their families forever. This author has taken on subjects with sensitivity and brought life to the characters. Although it took a bit to get into the story after the first couple of chapters I couldn't put it down. This heartbreakingly beautiful, dark and twisted, well written story pulled me in and had me on the edge of my seat wondering how the story would end.

Moral Compass is about a boarding school that transitions from all male to co-ed . Not long after , some of the best students, including one of the new girls and a night of drinking , that forever changes all of their lives . The students and families quickly learn that money will not solve this and the boys have to grow up fast.
Danielle Steele did a wonderful job portraying the seriousness of underage drinking and rape and also showing that there were different levels of involvement by the boys involved that each played their part in some way.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an arc for my honest review

Moral Compass is not your normal Danielle Steel Novel she threw me for a loop.I was all ready for a love story with tears, soulmate and wedding.I even had my popcorn, peanuts and chocolate(I still are it all). The title alone should be a warning to the reader your in for a ride.
Saint Ambrose Prep is after all these years going coed. And this alone has its drama in the background. The dark side of privilege will come out in the story line. And hold your attention until the end.The main female character "Vivienne" is well developed and just so enjoyable. As can be expected some of the young men are just horrible.Well done #Danielle Steel.I've been buying these books for my mother for years. But also they have been for me.đź’›This one was a ARC from #Random HouseGroup Ballantine. And thank you #Net Galley!!đź’›

Moral Compass is the best Danielle Steel book I have read in a while. I have read most of her book and some I like better than others. This one, although a bit predictable and though it starts out a bit sad, has an ending that makes it all ok. I liked this book and recommend it.

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
At an elite private school in Massachusetts, a wide circle of lives will be forever changed by a devastating series of events in Danielle Steel’s riveting new novel.

Saint Ambrose Prep is a place where the wealthy send their children for the best possible education, with teachers and administrators from the Ivy League, and graduates who become future lawyers, politicians, filmmakers, and CEOs. Traditionally a boys-only school, Saint Ambrose has just enrolled one hundred and forty female students for the first time. Even though most of the kids on the campus have all the privilege in the world, some are struggling, wounded by their parents’ bitter divorces, dealing with insecurity and loneliness. In such a heightened environment, even the smallest spark can become a raging fire.

One day after the school’s annual Halloween event, a student lies in the hospital, her system poisoned by dangerous levels of alcohol. Everyone in this sheltered community—parents, teachers, students, police, and the media—are left trying to figure out what actually happened. Only the handful of students who were there when she was attacked truly know the answers and they have vowed to keep one another’s secrets. As details from the evening emerge, powerful families are forced to hire attorneys and less powerful families watch helplessly. Parents’ marriages are jeopardized, and students’ futures are impacted. No one at Saint Ambrose can escape the fallout of a life-altering event.

In this compelling novel, Danielle Steel illuminates the dark side of one drunken night, with its tragic consequences, from every possible point of view. As the drama unfolds, the characters will reach a crossroads where they must choose between truth and lies, between what is easy and what is right, and find the moral compass they will need for the rest of their lives.

Danielle Steel is truly one of the best and with this one she brings you into a dark and serious subject.

A boys school has been open to girls now but when that happens it brings trouble. After underage drinking and the rape of one of the girls the school and the students in it are dragged into the dark but real consequences that happen every day in this country.

WOW! What a story. In the age of #MeToo this is poignant and provocative. I found myself hurting for each of the characters even the guilty but especially the victim. This story is a must-read for every teenager, boy or girl.

Moral Compass is Danielle Steel’s latest book out and I was lucky enough to get approved from NetGalley. No matter what DS puts out, I request it. This one has some very sensitive matter and was dealt with throughout the whole book. The poor boys made a terrible decision while at a prep school and their lives changed forever because of it. 5 stars for a well written book about something that no one wants to live through. I think I will be still thinking about this book in the days to come. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release for my honest review.

A riveting story that I had a hard time putting down. How one night that starts out of innocence of fun will change of the lives of seven teenagers. An elite prep school has accepted females for the first time under much controversy and now a night of drinking that ends up with a rape of a fellow student.

I must say I was a little confused in the beginning with so many characters and had to go back to see who was who, but was still engrossed with the story. This is a delicate topic that was well written. I highly recommend this book.

I always enjoy Danielle Steel books. Moral Compass is a story that could happen in the real world. I really enjoyed getting to know the characters and feeling so much towards them. I was anxious to get to the end of this novel to find out the ending.

Danielle Steel hit it out of the ball park with this one. It was so different from recent novels she's written and is a fantastic read!

The title says it all. After a drinking party at Halloween in the woods at an elite prep school, a young girl is in the hospital with alcohol poisoning and suffering from a sexual assault. The 6 young men in involved band together and protect the rapist while the victim refuses to cooperate.

It's a story of how different people have a moral compass that guides their actions to do what's fair and right in the end and face consequences, regardless of the results. Run, don't walk to read this book. It was one of the best I've read in a long time . I couldn't out it down once I started reading it. Kudos to Ms Steel!

I received a free ARC eBook from Net Galley and the publisher in exchange for my honest opinions.

Danielle Steel writes an amazing book about a school for the elite that has a horrific incident occur on campus. St. Ambrose is now allowing girls to attend the private boarding school and Halloween night is now an evening full of surprises and a student is found unconscious and sexually assaulted. This story follows the students on what happens on this journey to see how the school discovers what happens and who was all involved. See who is able to follow their own moral compass or able to follow their own path. This is a complicated subjected that Danielle Steel writes about so well using the morals of each student and staff to discuss. I really enjoyed this story.
