Not knowing this was part of a series, I was pretty lost. If you are into graphic sex, this is the book for you.
Steamy, fun, quick read. I haven't read the other books in this series but I absolutely want to now. The characters are so complex and you easily get sucked into their journey. Great set of short stories for the holiday season!
I wish I could give this book ten stars or more!! It was an amazing story like all of the others from her that I have read. It had a few tales of past Christmas as well as present. All of the stories intertwined with past stories from Reisz. One character does something that I can't talk about without spoiling the book but its worth the read, if you love Soren and Kingsley. It made my heart soar and I really hope to get more about them in the future. Seeing Griffin grow up as a character and the relationship between Nora and Zach was amazing.
I couldn't put it down every time someone tried to talk to me I told them to go away because I wanted to finish but I didn't want it to end.
Go Into This One Knowing: Collection of Stories, BDSM, Sodomy, Adultery
I've loved the original sinners book since the very first novel as Reisz has crafted a world that one no longer wants to be an onlooker. The characters, Nora, Kinglsley, and Soren are writen in such a way that you could picture in your mind's eye, the looks, the hidden smiles, and the secrets that they share.
Winter Tales is no exception, set around Soren's birthday, these short stories share insight (past, present, and future) into the relationships of the three friends and lovers. My only disappointment was that it ended too soon, like an old friend you only see once a year. I'll wait with anticipation of the next tale.
Note: Review and rating are for the brand new novella, December Wine only.
In this novella, Nora Sutherlin and Zach Easton went to France on a mission to inform Nicolas (Nico) Delacroix of his heritage. I enjoyed seeing their first encounter with the attractions just simmering on the surface. It’s nice to see Nico’s vulnerability and how it mirrored her own past.
It’s always delightful to go back to my favorite Original Sinners characters, and it’s an extra treat when the story involved side characters that I’ve always wanted to know more about.
Tiffany Reisz is a brilliant author, I can never sing her praises high enough. She became one of my favorite authors when I picked up The Siren to read. She blows my mind with her talent. Every book I have read of this series - The Red Years and The White Years, I tell myself I will re-read this series once completed. Reisz is kind enough to let us see more into the future with these wonderful characters and into the past. We now know these amazing characters, and how Reisz flows between the past and present is magical, as she unveils the story behind each of these characters and their time spent together, Winter Tales are a collection of some of Reisz's Christmas Stories offered to her fans/newsletter subscribers. Winter Tales also includes Winter Wine - the long awaited tale of how Nico was found, and became part of this makeshift family. Winter Tales helps answer some of the questions I have had for so long. Reisz also have many other novellas/stories surrounding the Original Sinners you can find to help full in the gaps. If you have not read the full series from The Siren, I highly encourage you to return and start at the beginning, you will not be disappointed. Winter Tales is perfectly timed to entice for the upcoming continuation of the Original Sinners with Reisz's new book The Priest, which continues to the story in New Orleans. I already have my copy on Pre-Order. Do you?
*tosses ALL of the glitter*
Okay, seriously, I'm well aware this is a collection of novellas and I've read a couple of them already...but sit down. Because Winter Tales also contains the novella that I've been waiting for--for years! Oh yes, there is a Santa Claus this year, and her name is Ms. Reisz.
Any of you that have read The Siren or any of my reviews for The Original Sinners series know that Zach and Nora are my favorites...I know, I love the rest of the crew; but Zach and Nora, they just have that something magical for me. Zach Easton is at the pinnacle of my favorite-est (new word of the day) book boyfriends list. Ever. In fact, I'm going to have to do a re-read of the whole shebang now, just because I love being so absorbed into this world.
Ms. Reisz's writing is just on another level. The truly unique characters, the top-notch world building, the way the plot loops back in and carries through a lengthy series like this one; it's no wonder that she's an autoread for me. Unequivocal, without a doubt, 5 star read. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in advance of release day in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you Netgalley and the Publishers for this book.
I had never read a Tiffany Reisz book before and I was not so sure about this one but this was a pleasant surprise. I loved this book and couldn't put it down. It was a nice twist to a christmas eve plot! Loved it.
Winter Tales is a collection of short stories with a brilliantly developed character line, all lovingly intertwined with one another, and it really sets the scene for the whole book. This incredibly author has done it again with the kinky characters and storyline. A must read!
Quick, fun, hot reads! I loved getting to know different pieces of the characters over the various stories. Each story felt different and quite spicy!
Winter Tales was a chance to revisit the worlds of Nora, Kingsley and Soren and discover their backstories. I especially loved Nora's first meeting with Nico in December Wine and Soren's interactions with Magda. Tiffany Reisz always manages to enthrall me with her deeply complex characters and storylines. Her Winter Tales are no exception!
Nora is my favorite heroine of all time. When I saw there was a book of Sinner's shorts that focused on the winter time, I couldn't pass up reading it. As always, Reisz is a master story-teller and writes the sexiest scenes ever. I highly recommend this one!
This was an entertaining read, but I had hardly a clue of what was going on as I've not read any other books in this series. But I expected some smut and I for sure got plenty of that 🙂
I didn’t realize that this was an anthology of stories from a previously published work, so it was a little bit challenging to understand what was going on at first. But even so, it was still an entertaining read!
Best Christmas gift ever!! (yes, to myself, but whatever.) There is nothing like knowing you will love a book before you even open the pages. All Tiffany said was that it was about Nico...and I was mesmerized. The opening story about Nora meeting him for the first time was so moving...I just wanted to jump into the pages and have a group hug with all of them. And after finishing the story, I was hungry for more. I hope and pray that Tiffany has the next in store for us. I've already gifted this book to a friend for Christmas and know she will love it as much as I do. Just the journey of reading Tiffany's wordcraft gives me great pleasure...the complex feels in the story are just icing on the cake. She's also included "The Christmas Truce, "Poinsettia" and "The Scent of Winter". I've read them previously but adored the timely reread on each of them. She closes with a new short story "Blood & Snow", which I suspect sets us up perfectly for the upcoming 2020 release of "The Priest". Which I already love without even seeing. Yes. I admit my addiction. And I don't want to quit. Ever.
It's hard for me to guess if someone would enjoy these without the richness of their backstories. I treasure each of Tiffany's sinners and hope she never tires of sharing them with us.
Yet again, I spent a sleepless night in bed and it's all Tiffany Reisz's fault.
You'd think, having read all of the Original Sinners series, that I would learn my lesson and at least start an anthology of short stories set in that universe on a Friday night. Nope: foolishly assuming I could put Winter Tales down after the first story was the most excellent mistake of my week..

I didn’t realize that this was an anthology of stories from an expansive, already-published series. As such, I had no backstory and couldn’t keep characters and situations straight. The fact that the stories are out of chronological order made it more confusing. Having said this, if you aren’t into BDSM, avoid this one, because the sadism is harsh and, as one who doesn’t understand it, cruelty and love don’t seem compatible. It’s also very hard to understand how these bisexuals can have both men and women in their lives that they love equally and all parties seem okay with it. This seems to play into the stereotypical and antiquated notion that bisexuals are promiscuous and unfaithful. Yes, this is erotica, so sexual boundaries are blurred, but I was really disturbed by the infidelity, the fact that the sadistic protagonist was a Jesuit priest with a very damaged soul, and that Reisz seemed to use bisexual urges to condone infidelity. If you haven’t followed the series, don’t bother.
I received a complimentary ARC of this book from 8th Circle Press through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
[Thanks Netgalley for the ebook. This review is my honest opinion but just another opinion, you should read this book and judge it by yourself 😊]
-----------
I love Tiffany Reisz and her Sinners, and I love this book. I'm not a fan of Christmas novellas but I love Tiffany Reisz ones, they're so touching, funny and kinky. There's nothing really new in this novellas but Tiffany Reisz give us some puzzle pieces about the complex relationship between Nora, Soren and Kingsley, pieces that you didn't know were missing! But they made the Sinners Universe more complete.
I had previously read Ponsettia, The Christmas Truce and The Scent of Winter (❤), but I was looking forward to read December Wine. Oh, what a story! You can enjoy the first meeting between Nora and Nico (although I'm team Soren, I love Nico too -maybe I'm a bit like Nora 😆) and you also can have a little of Nora and Zach, which I needed since The Siren. This story is kinky, funny and touching and I loved it.
(And it has a bonus story with Soren! Perfection).
If you are a Tiffany Reisz's Sinners fan you need to read this book.
And if you haven't read The Original Sinners series, you have to start with The Siren! And follow the series order.
It’s always exciting to take a new journey with my favorite Sinners. The gang is all back in a collection of Christmas novellas that is sure to please even the most subdued sinner!! Soren, Kingsley, Nora and Nico all make appearances in this anthology.
December Wine is the latest addition to the collection. It is a journey that Nora embarks upon to give a piece of Kingsley’s life back. With the aid and sexual prowess of her editor, Zack, Nora travels overseas to find out of her information is correct about Kingsley’s past. It is a journey of secrets and discovery that will lead Nora on a journey that will definitely alter all of the Original Sinners’ lives.
There is nothing better than visiting the Sinners that lead us on some of the most delicious temptations to date. The holidays wouldn’t be complete without Tiffany Reisz’s reprise of the characters that tempt you with their sexual kink!!
Every year, Tiffany Reisz releases an Original Sinners Christmas story as a gift to her readers. This year, we get a WHOLE ANTHOLOGY containing three reprints and two new pieces, and what a glorious gift it is. Nico and Fionn, two sons raised by non-biological fathers, sit at the heart of most of these stories; an appropriate choice at Christmas, given the series’s religious roots. Even without that neat bit of imagery, though, this is a bloody good book. “Poinsettia” and “The Scent of Winter” are probably my faves, but there’s not a dud among them. As always, Reisz writes with pure affection for her characters and a deep respect for their personhood.
Highly recommended to Original Sinners fans. New readers should start with THE SIREN instead
