After a one night stand Roz finds that she is pregnant and she plans on having the baby. However her finances are a mess and there is no way she can give a baby the life it deserves. She signs up on a website for what she thinks is a fancy adoption agency that she feels will find her caring parents to take her baby. She leaves from her home in Ireland for New York to meet the parents-to-be. Even though warning bells go off for her, she doesn't trust them. Some of the twists you just can't see coming. The one big thing in Roz's corner was her best-friend Dympna. As Roz moves in with Sheridan and Daniel, things start to come to light that makes her wonder but is she in too far to get out?

I was certainly not disappointed.
The description first drew me in and once I started this book I found it very hard to put down
I found the character of Roz to be a very likeable young woman who gets herself into a situation that she would never have imagined.
It's an exciting storyline with a few twists and one that kept me on edge waiting to see what the final outcome would be for Roz and her baby.
I absolutely devoured this book

This one would fall into the category of just okay for me. It was a fairly quick read, had a really great side character in Dymphna, and the ending was somewhat satisfying.

It felt like Behind Closed Doors-lite, just with a couple and a pregnant woman. The synopsis basically spells out the book and not enough substance is there to make up for the lack of surprise.

It got boring after a while given Sheridan is basically just crazy. The craziness is used as a plot device, there’s no why of it all, just a vehicle for bizarre behavior and absolutely no character development or consistency.

The entire story was outlandish, dull in parts and ridiculous in others and the reveal of who the dad was was done entirely for shock value and not at all purposeful. It just is revealed and then everyone moves on.

I think I’m talking myself into a lower rating here as I’m writing my review but I’ll leave it at three stars for now.

Though it has a good concept, this book was quite underwhelming. However, it did keep my attention long enough for me to finish it, which is why I’m settling on 2 stars.

The main character, Roz, is extremely naive (or just plain stupid, I can’t really decide). Her thoughts and her decisions were so dumb that I didn’t find her that likable at all - just annoying. Truly, I didn’t find any of the characters convincing. They were all just... meh. The story itself was not that well-executed. And the ending is predictable, but I guess it could have been worse...

I’ve never read a Caroline Mitchell book before, so I don’t know if all of her books are written the way this one is... but man, the dialogue in this book is just not good. It’s very cliché and dull.

This is the best book I've read in 2020 so far. It's gripping, addictive and I was finding myself desperate to get back my kindle to read more. The characters are fantastic, it's just overall an incredible psychological thriller, one I will definitely be recommending to anyone who'll listen to me!

When unwed, Irish Catholic Roz finds out she is pregnant, she has more than one dilemma on her hands. Desperate to keep the father’s identity from best friend Dympna while finding a suitable family for her baby AND keeping her pregnancy a secret, Roz finds the perfect opportunity on Miracle-moms. She has found a famous couple willing to take her baby while letting her stay with them in the United States. To protect their privacy, they do not disclose their true identities until all of the legal paperwork has been signed sealed and delivered.

Super celebrity couple Sheridan and Daniel Watson seem to be the perfect couple to adopt Roz’s baby. At first. Soon the reader is treated to some insight into Sheridan’s celebrity child past and is slowly immersed into her very dark side.

Although the premise was great, the execution didn’t quite deliver. Roz’s naiveté and trusting nature was over the top and played too heavily into the plot.

Sheridan’s flawed and twisted persona was pretty well executed as well as her reasoning and methodologies. Sheridan is a master manipulator playing on people’s greed and need and knowing which to appease and when helps her keep her people in line.

I felt that the end revealed on or 2 too many twists and tied up into a too neat bundle given the rest of the story.

The several very hard to believe moments and lack of likeable characters and character development make this a 3 star instead of a 4.

Rosalind "Roz" Foley is a 24 year old housekeeper in Ireland. After a drunken night with a partner that was definitely a mistake, she turns up pregnant. The father of the baby is affiliated with her best friend Dympna, and to keep the baby would cause chaos in both their lives. Roz turns to the internet for help.

She registers on a website where she can be matched with prospective families for her child. Her father abandoned her as a child and her mother was an alcoholic so Roz becomes obsessed with finding the perfect mother. She's soon inundated with responses but the one that really catches her eye is a "diamond" couple. This means that the couple is very wealthy. Surely this means that they can provide her baby a perfect life?

After she initiates contact with "Julie", Roz is whisked away to New York City to meet the prospective parents. She soon learns that the people that want her baby are Sheridan Sinclair and Daniel Watson, an "It celebrity couple" looking to expand their family. Sheridan doesn't let any grass grow under her feet and manipulates the desperate and star struck Roz into signing away the rights to her baby immediately.

The glitter soon starts to wear off as Roz is given glimpses into Sheridan's true nature. Sheridan's whole household and staff fears her and now Roz fears her as well. She starts to regret her decisions and also starts bonding with her baby. As her baby grows, Roz starts to grow into her inner strength, which is good because in the beginning I was wondering how she could be so stupid and naive.

The story is complex with very well written characters. The police presence is enough to keep the story moving but at the same time you aren't bogged down with procedural details. The underlying theme is that what you may view from the outside as being perfect may very well not be when you are face to face with it.

One of my favorite parts of the book was the strength of the friendship between Roz and Dympna. Despite the suspicion that her boyfriend is the baby's father and the fact that people think she's silly for worrying about Roz, she swears something is wrong and doesn't stop trying to find her. She never wavers in the love for her friend and it was beautiful to read.

I'm definitely going to seek out more of Ms. Mitchell's work, because if this book is an example I will surely enjoy the others as well.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Amazon Publishing UK for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review. It was a genuine pleasure.

What a blast of a book. A naive Irish girl with an unplanned pregnancy is whisked to New York by a famous Hollywood couple with whom she's agreed to give her baby. She's excited at first until she realizes wifey is a bitch, and she's basically been kidnapped and locked away. There's some over the top trauma towards the end, but I didn't mind because it was such a good read. I recommend for lovers of psychological thrillers.

Thanks Net Galley for letting me read and review.

Roz is in her 20’s, has just lost her job, and finds out she’s pregnant from a one-night stand. With no real family besides her best friend, Dympna, she decides to go through an elite online adoption agency to find parents for her unborn child. Roz is selected by a diamond couple, celebrities who want to remain anonymous, and is flown from Dublin to New York City to meet the prospective parents. She’s excited to see who they are and is expecting politicians, but when she is dropped off at the home of celebrity A-list couple, Sheridan and Daniel, she’s surprised and excited.

Roz thought she was just going there to meet the couple, but she has to sign the agreement right away and is forced to stay with them immediately with no communication with the outside world due to a non-disclosure agreement. She can’t even let Dympna know where she is. Things seem very strange with a set schedule, no contact with the outside world, and being stuck in a basement apartment with no windows and no way out unless Sheridan or Daniel let her upstairs. When someone starts mysteriously leaving her gossip magazine articles about Sheridan and Daniel’s first child and about someone else who went missing around the same time they had that child, Roz starts to get suspicious and fear for not only her life, but the life of her unborn child.

The Perfect Mother by Caroline Mitchell was not what I was expecting at all. There were so many twists and turns and not everyone was as they seemed. Roz was naïve to think she could sell her baby and not have regrets, but what she goes through during the pregnancy was crazy. The perfect couple, Sheridan and Daniel have so many secrets of their own, and I never knew what was going to happen next with them. Dympna was a great character trying to find out what happened to her friend the entire time.

This was my first book by Caroline Mitchell, but won’t be my last. She sucked me in from the beginning and held my attention throughout. The story flowed well and there were some twists I definitely did not see coming. I did feel that the ending was a bit rushed and confusing though. Overall, I would recommend this though.

A young woman named Roz is trying to make her way in her hometown in Ireland when she expectantly falls pregnant. She doesn't want people to know the identity of the father and she has no money so the future is not looking too bright for a this young catholic girl. She is convinced that it is best if her unborn child is adopted. Roz joins an elite adoption service and is dumbfounded when within days a mystery contact is jetting her to New York to meet a celebrity power couple desperate for a child of their own. Sheridan and Daniel are a wealthy and glamorous couple who want a baby to bring up as their own. They have so much more than Roz could dream of and she realises that her child would have everything possible. Circumstances change when Roz moves into their basement suite and she begins to suspect that there are dark secrets held by the couple.
Roz discovers that another woman moved in with them previously and has never been seen since. The clock is ticking to the birth of her child and despite her best intentions she has walked into a nightmare.
I was quickly into this one and was deprived of another good night sleep because I wanted to find out how it was going to finish. Roz is a good character and the plot is well paced, recommended.

**I was given a copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions posted here are my own.**

The author really knows how to grab your attention from the first chapter - insert an intense scene from closer to the end of the book, before jumping to the beginning of the story for the second chapter.

Roz, a sweet, single, broke, Catholic girl from Ireland suddenly finds herself pregnant. She, for obvious reasons, decides she cannot keep her baby, and decides to find the perfect adoptive family to give her baby the life it deserves. She registers on a site where prospective adoptive parents can reach out to her in hopes of being able to adopt her baby. When she realizes a "diamond couple" (a couple whom is allowed to keep their identity private for a certain amount of time) has selected her, she figures all of her problems have been solved - deciding to fly halfway across the country to meet the couple, against her best friend's better judgement.

The diamond couple flies her first class from Ireland to NYC and she relishes her first tastes of the good life. She is taken in a limo from the airport to her hotel where she waits for a few hours until she is taken to meet the couple, who turn out to be Sheridan Sinclair and Daniel Watson - celebrity superstar couple. Believing she has hit the jackpot in an adoptive family for her unborn baby, Roz signs the contracts and soon becomes a prisoner in their home.

This style of writing is one of my absolute favorites - told from multiple points-of-view with plenty of intrigue and suspense. While some parts felt a little...far-fetched...over-all it was a great read and definitely held my attention until the end.

Holy f***!!!!! What a book!!! This is currently my number one book for January! I immediately loved Roz, I did figure out the baby daddy, but I didn't feel like that was a huge part of the story so it didn't detract from it. Everyone needs a Dympna in their lives. Sheridan and Daniel were well done if dislikable people. Absolutely loved it!!!

I wanted to like this book. When I read the blurb, it seemed like a book that I would like. The storyline was too confusing, with too many characters’ perspectives. It was hard to keep up! It Is a good thriller with a surprise ending. I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving this review

This was an absolutely fantastic read, I did not know what to expect, having not read any novels by this author before - but I will definitely be looking out for her other books. Roz finds herself pregnant and sort of alone, except from her best friend and flatmate, who adores her and wants the best for her and her unborn baby. We don't find out who the father is until very late in the book - so much happens before then that it's kind of not something at the forefront of your mind, however it is a twist I didn't expect. This is a harrowing, compelling story of a young mother-to-be with not a lot of support, trying to do what she thinks is best for her childs future. She finds an online site that offers her care and funds to put her baby up for 'adoption' with a couple of her choice. Given that she didn't have the best upbringing, doesn't have a secure job and family life, she decides that this is what she wants and needs to do for her baby. Little does she know that when an extremely rich and famous couple become interested in her baby - her life is about to change forever. There are so many surprises and layers to this book that I was hooked. Roz's story is a nightmare, but one I could imagine watching on the big screen. Truly a gripping novel that will have you on the edge of your seat.

*received from netgalley for free for honest review* This was certainly a thriller! yikes! Books like this are always scary because though they might not be kidnapping pregnant women there are parents who think that way/treat their kids like that :0 This was really hard to put down and the ending was...odd but I didn't see it coming that for sure lol.
