Great Book! Unique but modern concept!
Roz finds herself pregnant in her hometown in Ireland,with no money and no way to support a child. She joins a website to try a find the perfect wealthy adoptive parents for her baby in America, far from her home as the she can’t let anyone find out the true identity of the baby’s father. Sheridan and Daniel have everything anyone could want, an adorable son, a beautiful home, successful careers, limitless funds and a massive social media following. But They are missing one thing to make their life complete, a daughter of their own. Roz flies to New York to live in a suite in the basement of Sheridan and Daniel’s house. She has signed papers agreeing to stay until she gives birth to her baby and then leave alone. Roz becomes suspicious of the couple and their intentions after finding out that the last girl that lived with them is missing. She can hear bits of conversations thru the vents in her basement suite and starts to wonder if she made the right decision for her unborn child.
Some of the characters were chilling and cold in the way they looked at life. The twists and turns left me speechless and shocked!

I was given a free digital copy of this book by Netgalley, in return for my honest and unbiased review. I really liked this book! It was a definite page turner. I was really taken on a roller coaster ride with the main character, Roz, as she went through her pregnancy, knowing that she was giving the baby up once she delivered. Then she began to find out what the baby's parents were truly made of, and THAT'S where to roller coaster ride began! I'd love to tell you more, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone! Quite a few twists and turns inside!

The Perfect Mother follows Roz, a young Irish woman who has found herself in an impossible situation. She decides to put her baby up for adoption and the deal is sealed when she finds who she thinks is the dream couple online. Unfortunately, she has no idea what lays in store for her.

This was a quick, engaging read, and I think readers will be drawn in by Roz and her plight.

3.75 stars for this story about surrogacy and the lengths people will go to get a baby or to hide a pregnancy..

Roz is Irish and not close at all with her family. They'd likely be embarrassed about her situation and not supportive, so she resorts to finding a home for the baby. Catholic guilt prevents her from ending the pregnancy, but she knows what it is like to be unwanted and chooses what she thinks is a better home for her child. The new home is in New York so she feels confident her family will never know. Unfortunately for her, that is exactly the situation the prospective parents require for their story to work zs they intend to pass off the child as their own.

A few twists and turns added some tension, overall a good read. Thank you NetGalley for an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest opinion.

Wow this book took me on a ride! I was hooked from the beginning, and through several twists and mind games, I loved it! I did not see the ending coming, even when I thought I had it figured out!

Hot Hollywood couple Sheridan and Daniel are looking to adopt. Roz is looking for a couple to raise her unborn child better than she could provide. Could it be a match made in heaven?

This was a quick read that did hold my interest. I wanted to like it more than I did. It was just too far fetched. The first half was better. The second half and the revelations at the end went too far.. Not a bad read if you like this genra.

The next thing you know you are slapped across the face with a sharp twist! Sheridan is a self entitled waning Holluwood star who has written a real life script for a performance filled with perversion and cruelty. Daniel is one confused dude. Roz is a true innocent and Dymphna is the best friend we all wish we had. It is perfectly drawn out with a well defined conclusion and no epilogue. I gave the book four stars, but 4.5 would be more accurate! Enjoy the book!

The Perfect Mother by Caroline Mitchell was an amazing read. A young Irish girl, Roz, finds out she is pregnant and feels like she would not be equipped to care for an infant. When she contacts an adoption website she is matched with a celebrity couple who does not want anyone to know they are not actually pregnant themselves.
And from that point on you are on a roller coaster ride of secrets and lies. How far would a couple go to have a baby? How far will a young mother go to insure her child lives a good life? Once you start this book, you will not be able to put it down.

This was a different book/style from Caroline Mitchell than we are used to i.e. detective series. This was a standalone psychological thriller and what thriller it was. A young single catholic girl, Roz discovers she is pregnant, she doesn’t have much to give a baby in her mind, flat sharing with her best friend Dympna and working as a cleaner in a hotel, strained relationship with her mother, the baby would be better off being adopted. She scours the internet and comes upon a website Miracle Moms, after deciding on a couple, she is soon on her way to New York to meet the expectant parents of her baby. The chosen parents, she discovers, are rich and famous and she thinks she’s hit the jackpot for her baby…. however…. there is never a happy ever after…. Things take a sinister turn and twists come to fore….

A riveting read, I was entranced, could not put the book down, the story had more strings to it than a violin, highly recommend.

First time reading a book by this author. It wasn’t my favorite psychological thriller/suspense type book, but it wasn’t bad either. I give it just okay. It had some really nice twists that I didn’t totally see coming, I did have some inklings about them though since I’ve read many books in this genre and expected certain things. It was a bit over the top in believability, but that’s fine with me, I know it’s not true crime. The subject matter was a bit hard for me too, but that’s on me and has no bearing whatsoever on the writing or entertainment value of this book. It’s pretty well written and will keep you turning pages to see what will happen next.

But is Roz doing the right thing? Will she end up regretting her decision? And will she end up putting herself and her unborn child in danger and jeopardy?

When Roz hears from the adoption service that a young couple are interested in her baby, she cannot believe her good fortune and it looks like her luck is in because she soon finds herself jetting off to New York where she meets Sheridan and Daniel, who live a life that is as far removed from Roz’s as it is possible to get. The couple lead a life that is straight out of a Hollywood movie, but when they offer her the plush basement suite, Roz finds herself unable to shake off this feeling that beneath the glossy furnishings and million dollar lifestyle lurks something sinister and frightening and alarms bells soon begin to go off.

As Roz begins to dig deep into the couple she is about to entrust her baby to, she is shocked to discover that she is not the first woman to have been taken in by Sheridan and Daniel and that the previous tenant had disappeared off the face of the earth and was never seen again. Roz realises that she has allowed herself to be lured into a gilded cage where the only thing keeping her alive is her unborn child. Can she manage to unshackle herself from the nightmare which she has stumbled into? Or is she about to make the ultimate sacrifice for the child which means the world to her?

The Perfect Mother is a terrifying read packed with tension and adrenaline that I simply couldn’t tear myself away from. A hair-raising thriller that will get the heart pounding, The Perfect Mother will have readers chewing their nails to the elbow as they find themselves caught up in this densely plotted and terrifying tale packed with jaw-dropping revelations and shocking twists and turns.

Caroline Mitchell can always be relied on to deliver a first class thriller that will have readers on tenterhooks from start to finish and The Perfect Mother is certainly no different.

The Perfect Mother had my stomach churning for many pages. Yet I couldn’t put it down. The ideas that Sheridan and Daniel had about how to create excitement in their marriage were simply sick. I can picture so many young girls falling into their trap. At first I was afraid Roz would be an unsuspecting, naive victim. But I loved watching her fight the odds against her. Dympna was an amazing friend. I would like the next book to feature her!

Far-fetched but even so, a page-turner that I couldn’t put down…until the last 100 pages. At this point it fizzled and never fully recovered. The story seemed to drag and I no longer felt the love for Roz. I enjoy twisty endings and admit this book had one, yet it left me underwhelmed.

I'm a fan of Caroline Mitchell but I was disappointed with this book. There were a lot of twists in this book but the story was so far-fetched that the twists didn't make it any better. This book, however, kept my interest long enough to finish it.

What a thriller. First book I've read by this author. Wow,hooked from the beginning,with twists and turns galore. I honestly didn't think it was going to end that way. I highly recommend this author. Thank you netgalley for the ARC. The father of the baby was a surprise too!! Just amazing.

The Perfect Mother by Caroline Mitchell was an intriguing story, with many twist and turns. It had a strong storyline that showed that life is never straightforward and when you think you have come up with a reasonable solution to a problem, i. e. an unwanted pregnancy , life gets in the way. When film stars and Hollywood’s golden couple, decide they want your unborn child and will pay you, all your problems are over. Only in this story they are just beginning.
An interesting read. Recommended.

I’ve been a big fan of Caroline Mitchell, reading both her Amy Winter and Ruby Preston series. This stand alone takes on a young pregnant woman who decides to give up her baby rather than attempt to raise it alone. Through an elite adoption service, she is paired with a celebrity couple. She moves into their basement for the term of her pregnancy. We learn early on that things are not what they seem.

This book is all about the story. The characters seem more caricature than real life. It’s fast paced and a decent read, although extremely unbelievable. I do give Mitchell credit for making the lifestyle problems of a celebrity seem realistic as they attempt to keep below the radar (something very au courant with Harry and Megan in the news).

There’s a big twist at the end that I didn’t see coming.

Still, this book was average at best and I hope Mitchell returns to the police procedurals that she does much better.

Fantastic book! I was hooked from page one and had a hard time putting this book down. In Dublin, two young women, Rosalind (Roz) and Dympna share a room, work together doing housekeeping in a local hotel and have been best friends for years. Roz confides in Dympna that she is pregnant as the result of a one-night stand but she refuses to divulge who the father is. Roz searches the internet and finds Miracle Moms, an organization that helps expectant moms, who cannot keep their babies, find a suitable family for adoption. Roz settles on a family that sounds perfect and soon she is flying to New York to await the delivery of her baby and her big payoff from the parents. The prospective parents are rich and famous actors. Sound too good to be true??? It certainly was and there are lots of different angles this story takes before the surprise ending. Thank you NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the ARC of this scary unpredictable page-turner in exchange for an honest review. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a real thrilling thriller.

I will say the plot of this story is out there, but certainly is plausible. You know what bugged me? The author’s language or dialect that certainly wasn’t how Americans speak. It threw me off at times.
Also really? That Roz would have no way of communicating in this day and age of social media seemed a stretch.
That being said, I found the plot fascinating and did enjoy the read. I liked knowing what multi main characters were thinking. Worth the read.
