The description of the story seemed interesting, so I decided to give a try to this author.
I was disappointed, the characters are absolutely unbelievable, the story develops slowly and I guessed the end when I was halfway.
I am not sure I will try another novel from this author.
Thank you to NetGalley, and Amazon Publishing for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Nothing in this book is as it seems. Lots of twists and turns in this psychological thriller! Kept me up till wee hours of the night. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Poor Roz. Stuck in Dublin. Pregnant. Estranged from her family. What’s a girl to do? Answer an on line ad from prospective parents offering her An all expense paid trip to New York , luxury housing and a wad of cash when she delivers the baby. Of course, all is not what it seems and Roz is caught up in a very dark web and with no way out. No spoilers here. Well worth a read.

So you’re single, Catholic and pregnant… totally against the grain of your upbringing ….what do you do?

Roz is just trying to the best for her baby that she’s nurturing inside her and giving / selling it to a couple who want it and will give it all it’s heart desire sounds ideal. Anyone would want the best start in life for their child. But from the moment I met Sheridan and Daniel, they didn’t feel right. But it could be the Hollywood effect but they were odd…

Having read previous novels by Caroline Mitchell, I knew I was in for a treat. Her psychological thrillers have tied me up in knots before and The Perfect Mother is no different. I was glued to my kindle, absorbing the story as it switched between Roz and Sheridan in the States and back to Roz’s home back in the Emerald Isle where Dympha (love the name) is missing her friend and flatmate.

Mitchell has written a tense psychological thriller about the calamities of unwanted pregnancy and the nuances of a catholic upbringing surrounding this. I loved following Roz’s journey addicted to what twist or turn would face this young Irish girl isolated in the Big Apple.

Pregnant Roz Foley knows that her current circumstances aren’t exactly conducive to providing a stable home for a baby, so adoption by a wealthy American couple via an online agency seems the ideal solution, even if it does all have to be a bit hush-hush. And Roz could never have imagined quite how high-profile the prospective adopters would turn out to be.

Daniel Watson, a big name British-born Hollywood star under consideration as the next James Bond, and Sheridan Sinclair, a former child star of a long-running family show (I accidentally found myself singing the Bojack Horseman theme tune at this point) want a sibling for their son, and Roz’s baby fits the bill nicely. But is that all they want?

Roz feels confident that Sheridan will be the perfect mother for her baby, but needless to say this turns out to be not exactly the case. As Roz moves into their home for the duration of the pregnancy, it soon becomes apparent that things are more than a bit not normal. Sheridan is scarily controlling, and her staff - PA George, maids Anna and Juanita - apparently entirely under her thumb. Daniel, meanwhile, remains a bit of a cypher throughout.

Meanwhile back home in Ireland, Roz’s friend Dympna is sure something is amiss and is determined to find out what.

I guessed early on who the baby’s father was (well, there weren’t exactly many candidates) and was completely unsurprised to be proved right.

It was a very tense and compelling read, if extremely far fetched, and I didn’t feel I ever fully understood either Sheridan’s motivations or her original plan. (It’s not too spoilerific to say things go a bit wrong along the way.) Roz’s predicament was terrifying, and I really liked Dympna, the kind of friend everyone needs. There are a few twists and turns - one character comes through near the end in a way I wasn’t expecting.

Some of the dialogue jarred a little, with no apparent change in tone between the Irish and American characters - some of the phrases used by the Americans didn’t seem to ring true. I see some other reviewers have also commented on this, so it’s not just me, and I feel the book could have done with a bit more editing in this regard.

This is the first book I’ve read by Caroline Mitchell, and despite a couple of reservations it was very enjoyable and certainly hasn’t put me off reading her others.

A brilliant book! An easy 5 stars. I literally could not put it down and due to the lack of sex or violence, I shall be passing it to my teenage daughter to read. Fast paced, enthralling, scary, mad … Loved it!

Another 5 ⭐️ review! This book had me hooked from the prologue! Major page turner with no idea where it was leading! I love books when I can’t guess what’s going to happen next!

24 year old pregnant Roz moves from Ireland to NYC after finding the perfect couple to raise her baby! It doesn’t take long before she realizes it isn’t what she expected. Does she have what it takes to keep herself and her unborn baby safe?

The Perfect Mother by Caroline Mitchell is now available and I highly recommend it!

Thank you @netgalley, @amazonpublishing and @caroline_writes for the ARC!

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, but I really liked it. Very readable and a great story. Interesting characters and an interesting reveal at the end. Totally worth a read.

Really good suspenseful book! This is my first by this author but I will definitely look for more. The goods - Loved Roz and her thought process and emotions, the plot and of course, the bestie Dympna. The not-so-greats - Sheridan, Daniel and Mike were surface characters. I would have like to see them more as real people and hear their feelings; this was more like someone's outside view of celebrity. Her bestie was great fun but I don't like spoilers so I'll just say that I didn't like that twist. I would recommend!!

Thanks NetGalley for the copy!!

Thrilling story of a broke and pregnant girl who is offered a solution. Filled with surprises and intriguing characters, The Perfect Mother, is quite good and an enjoyable reading experience.

This was not an awful book, and would make a great movie.  However, there was no difference in voice between female characters which is hard to deal with in this type of book.  Even moreso, the British-isms used by the American character was jarring and confusing.  And the articles - Southern Americans don't say holdall.
I would have like another perspective, maybe the female police detective and a bit of police procedural.  I would also love to read a book about the friend.  I would read more by this author.

This is a wild ride, indeed!

In Dublin, young woman Roz gets pregnant , and, desperate to find a good home for her unborn child (despite pangs of wishing she could keep the baby), signs up on what is essentially a dating site for very wealthy couples looking for babies and unwed mothers seeking a good life for her unborn child. Very quickly, a match occurs, and within a few short weeks Roz is in a first-class seat on a flight bound for New York City. Very exciting for a young and gullible woman who’s never left Dublin!

When she meets the couple, to her astonishment, the parents are a famous celebrity couple, Sheridan and Daniel. . Roz immediately moves into their home and is provided a lovely basement apartment to live in until the baby is born.

Then things, which already seem off to the reader, take a dark and twisted turn. Sheridan is clearly unstable. Roz is locked into her living quarters. Dark secrets about Leo, Sheridan’s and Daniel’s young son, emerge. And then Roz goes into labor.

Caroline Mitchell certainly has an imagination and in this book she’s created the perfect twisted and slimy situation. The book made me feel icky, in good way. I cannot imagine that situations like she’s described are possible. And that makes a good fictional tale.

I received this book as an ARC from the publisher and NetGalley.

I couldn’t resist this book, with a tag line that says “They want her baby. Do they also want her life?” I was very excited to get started!!

When Roz 24 finds out she is pregnant after a one night stand, she tells her best friend Dympna, but does not say who the babies father is. She joins Miracle Moms website, where wannabe parents adopt babies.

Roz has a message from a diamond member, which means they are a celebrity and are a millionaire with more than one property. What could go wrong?

Roz finds herself flying to New York to meet the glamorous stars, as she settles into their posh apartment she realises things are not all what they appear to be and finds herself a prisoner in a gilded cage.

The adoptive parents are controlling and Roz is soon fearing for her life. Someone is leaving her magazine articles about the couple. Who is Kelly? And is someone trying to help her?

This book had me completely hooked and I read it in one sitting. I really didn’t know what was coming round the next corner and it made the hairs on the back off my neck stand on edge!! Full of characters that have their own secrets, not knowing who you can trust makes this a thrilling read.

Need a minute as my head is still spinning. Something bubbly may be needed!!!

A thrilling book that I highly recommend.

This book definitely had me on the edge of my seat!

It was full of secrets and suspense. I couldn’t put it down! I needed to know what would happen next. The characters were well developed. I love that there was more to them than at first glance. I found that I liked Sheridan. I probably wasn’t supposed to but….*facepalm* The author takes you into a world of the rich and famous. Money does make things happen. The story is well written and will have you captivated until the end. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I’ve quickly become a fan. I can’t say enough good things about it! I will be checking out her other books. This is a fantastic read and if you love thrillers, I highly recommend you reading this book! You won’t be disappointed! I give this 5 stars.

I generally enjoy Caroline Mitchell’s book but this one was just an okay read. Sheridan and her husband were self centred and evil . Roz had a hard decision to make about her pregnancy and I felt for her predicament. She matured as the book progressed and was able to come to terms with her life. Her childhood friend Dympna was a keeper who not only traveled from Ireland to the United States knowing her friend was in distress but also for accepting the news of the baby’s father at the end of book. There were some surprises in this book for sure. I liked the tempo and short chapters . I know people will do anything to get what they want and this book is certainly an example of that.

This was one of the most exciting thrillers I have read! Roz is a young Irish girl who is pregnant. Her best friend Dympna wants to help her keep the baby but Roz knows she can’t take care of her. Roz is estranged from her mother, has no money and no real support apart from Dympna. She refuses to reveal the identity of the father. On the internet she comes across this elite adoption service. Very quickly she finds herself flying from Ireland to New York. She is going to meet a very powerful celebrity couple and can’t believe her luck. She will live with them, all expenses paid and her baby will have everything she could hope for. But, soon she realises something is not quite right. And then the wild ride begins! Be prepared to put everything else aside while you read!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Roz is a young Irish girl who finds herself pregnant after a one night stand. With no means to care for her baby, she decides to give it up for adoption. When she signs up to a website that helps expecting mothers find prospective parents for their babies, she's soon sought after by a wealthy couple that for the time being likes to remain anonymous.
When she arrives in America to meet them, she's shocked to learn that they are well-known celebrities, Sheridan and Daniel. Believing she has found the perfect parents for her unborn child, she disregards the warning signs. But no sooner does she sign the contract than Sheridan's facade of the perfect mother starts crumbling and Roz's dream come true turns into hell...

This book was right up my street. It is a perfect read for fans of baby-themed novels, but not only.
It was a gripping, suspenseful story that will keep you madly turning the pages in order to find out what happens next.
The steadily progressing action builds the tension as the secrets are revealed, and all the questions answered.
For the entire book, I had a specific ending in mind, but I was surprised when the story ended differently to my projection. The only thing I guessed right was the identity of the father.
This was my first book by Caroline Mitchell, but it definitely won't be my last.

Wow! What a riveting and plausible story. It is so full of tension and suspense I read it in two sittings, unable to put it down, wondering how it was going to end for Roz and her baby.

A home for my child

This book certainly had a lot of twists in it and a certain amount of suspense.

A young lady, Roz, finds herself pregnant after a one night stand. She tells her best friend Dympna and together they search the Internet for adoptive parents as Roz says she cannot keep her baby. She won't tell her friend who the father is because it would break her friends heart and she would lose her friendship.

She goes to New York to meet the adoptive couple. Once she is in their house she is stuck. It turned into a horrible nightmare.

This book keeps you guessing, If you like a good psychological suspense thriller read than I would recommend it to you

Thanks to Carol Mitchell, Amazon Publishing UK, and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of the book.

I am afraid this book was just too far fetched for me. Some twists along the way but not enough for me to engage with the storyline. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it.
