I enjoyed reading the Raven Sister's story. Elizabeth, who is beautiful, polite and ladylike, is considered a "Diamond of the First Water" in the Ton. She is an heiress. This has made her very distrustful of her many suitors who she feels are only interested in her fortune.
Her sister Carina is her complete opposite, being impulsive, outspoken and known to dress as a boy on occasion to carry out her larks.
Following a holdup by a highwayman they become acquainted with Gavin Delawney, who is immediately arrested by Elizabeth's beauty.
When Gavin tells his friend Edward of Elizabeth's beauty, he comes to find out that Edward has been acquainted with the Raven sisters since they were children.
We follow both sisters as they traverse society in an attempt to find suitable husbands. Will they each get the HEA that they hope for?
I recommend that you purchase this book to find out what becomes of our heroines. You wont be disappointed.
Thank you Dorothy Mack, Sapere Books and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you net galley for the advance reader copy of this novel. I wanted to like this book as it was regency era but just couldn't get into it. The writing felt stilted and disjointed to me. Perhaps a different plot line would have suited me better. I'm willing to try another by his author.
Elizabeth Raven is the sole heiress to her grandfathers fortune. Beautiful, polite and friendly, Elizabeth is a sought after match for marriage proposals.
Her younger sister Carina is headstrong and adventurous, happy to dress as a boy and loves to ride but has no dowry.
An unfortunate incident with a highwayman introduces the sisters to Gavin Delawney who at first is distracted by Elizabeth's beauty. Unaware his friend Edward is a long standing friend to the pair he tells Edward of the beautiful Elizabeth.
The sisters are in London for Carinas debutante in to society and both have their admirers. Lord Edgemere attempts to woo Carina but on discovering Elizabeth is the sole heiress switched his attentions.
Will either sister meet a man they wish to marry? Can Elizabeth find someone who loves her for herself and not get fortune?
This is a great recency romance with a little scandal thrown in.
Dorothy Mack has written this beautifully. Charming characters and such vivid descriptions you can picture them! I adore Carina and Edward, they were my favourite characters.
This is the second of Dorothy Mack's I've read now and wasn't disappointed.
