This workbook with over 50 exercises for teens to build their self-esteem in healthy ways would be a great point to start from. The book shared some tips on being assertive, ending negative self-talk, and dealing with feelings like guilt and shame. Many of the topics, though, could have been expanded on and I thought there were some important topics that were missing altogether. The book as a whole came off as one-dimensional and could have been a lot more. *Advance copy provided by the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
Problems with self-esteem can strike anyone, at any age, but teenagers are especially prone to self-doubt and confidence issues. Author Megan MacCutcheon, a licensed professional counselor, used her professional experience to develop this workbook-style guide for teens. She writes in a friendly, informal style without ever talking down to readers. The prompts are insightful without being overwhelming. I'm many years past teenager-hood, but I still found this a helpful book. I would suggest it for anyone who could use a self-esteem makeover!
