This is a simple Christmas retelling of Jesus’ birth. It comes as a board book to share with your young ones. I would definitely recommend this for any time of time of the year but especially around Christmas to give little ones and insight into what Christmas is all about.
Pick this one up for your daycare, preschool or story time if you can. Any Christian parent with young children would also enjoy this one for there home library.
Love the pictures, message, and Good News packed into this sweet book for the littles in your life! Also love that the pictures are of people of color. Lovely book to share the Good News of the birth of Christ, not just at Christmas.
I used this book for our homeschool. Both of our kids really enjoyed it. The cover really pulled me in! I am a sucker for a beautiful book cover!
Though I consider myself "spiritual" over religious, keeping an open mind all the while though never discussing the topic much (it's a no-win argument, and I seek to change no one's views in their faith, let alone my own), this board book for kids telling of Joseph and Mary's journey to Bethlehem and the birth of Christ - told in verse, no less - just blew me away with the sheer beauty of its artwork (though the words are pretty great, too), and the simple and touching way it told its story. A quick read and terrific introduction to any faith-based household seeking to impart this story to their young children, Good News! It's Christmas! is a must for any kid's (or even adult's) library, and should easily become a yearly tradition to re-read every December. 5/5 stars
NOTE: I received a free ARC of this title via NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review.
This book was a great, fun Christmas read. My kids asked for this book to be read multiple times throughout the Christmas season. It was fun, cute, and just the right length. I will go and purchase this book now that I know its published. Perfect gift for preschool and elementary kids.
I really loved this book. The story is easy to read aloud and the illustrations are beautiful. I love the bright colors. I will definitely be gifting this book this year to the "littles" in my life
I love this Christmas picture book! The rhymes are perfect, and so are the illustrations. There's a dozen adorable details to look at in each scene (the animals are just too cute!). The only thing that could improve the story is if it could be longer, so that we could enjoy it all the more. Excellent Christmas book for little ones.
This is a very simple illustrated children’s book that is aimed at the very young (about ages 2-3) to help them understand the story of Jesus’ birth. It covers the basics without too many details and offers gorgeous illustrations that enhance the story. There are animals throughout the pages and they even help in sharing of the story and celebration of Jesus’ birth.
Good News! It's Christmas! by Glenys Nellist is a beautiful illustrated book that would be a good choice for toddlers and small children. I do appreciate that there were some Bible verses. In all its a good book to point children to Christ at Christmas.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
What an adorable book this is!
A simple rhyming story about the birth of baby Jesus with all the traditional characters within it too.
The art work is delightful and I loved the simplicity of this book.
A fantastic little read!
Getting into the Christmas spirit my daughter and I were looking for some Christmas books to read together (She is twelve but still loves flipping picture books from time to time especially Holiday ones). This was a great little book for young children. The pages only contain a few sentences in a beautifully written poem that flows throughout the book. Great News! is given all around from Mary and Joseph to the donkey's and the birds. The illustrations are beautiful and would easily keep any child's attention while reading this short version of the birth of Christ. I definitely recommend this board book as one to add to your Christmas reading list.
Wonderful book about Christ's birth. Loved the illustrations---they are very whimsical. Small children will love them. The rhyming is something also, that young children will be attracted to. Can't go wrong here.
Good News! It's Christmas! by Glenys Nellist tells a very simple version of the Christmas story for young children. It is written using rhyming text that gives a good cadence to read aloud. The illustrations are adorable, with vibrant colour and whimsical animals and characters. It is a board book, so perfect for little ones. My granddaughter and I shared this story and really enjoyed it. We are practising the Christmas Presentation during Sunday School, so this was a perfect read for us. She really enjoyed it and knew who the characters were and what the story was basically about. I definitely recommend this one to Christian families with toddlers, as well as church libraries and Sunday School nurseries and toddler rooms.
This rhyming board book is a fun and bright retelling of the Christmas story. Drawing on Luke 2:10-11, children see the Good News being spread far and wide.
Lizzie’s diverse illustrations are really sweet and bring the nativity story to life along with Glenys’ lyrical rhyming couplets. Each spread repeats “Good news” which children will enjoy and many feature animal noises. I loved the addition of untraditional animals in the nativity story, such as pigeons.
This gentle, rhyming retelling of the Christmas story would make a lovely first Christmas (or Christening) gift. The repetition and animal sounds, within such short text, makes this perfect for the very young and the diverse illustrations are equally lovely.
I am very grateful to the publisher for providing me with a digital copy via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.
A wonderful story for toddlers and up!
The story of Jesus's birth in and easy way to read and youngsters will be able to remember and repeat.
Terrific!
This is the third book I've read by this author-illustrator duo, and it's probably my favourite. Good News! It's Christmas! tells a simplified version of the Christmas story for young readers using strong rhyming text and cute illustrations. There's not a lot of detail, and plenty of plot elements are left out... but for very young children, it gets the basic idea across.
I'd recommend this to those looking for kid-friendly versions of the nativity of Jesus, or for those looking for sweet picture books that celebrate the more religious side of Christmas.
Good News! It's Christmas!, is a sweet, new holiday book that your littlest readers are sure to love.
Told in a melodic "good news" rhyme pattern, Mary, Joseph, and all the animals spread the news of the new Savior's birth.
Each page highlights a new "good news" rhyme. The rhymes are simple, and they sweetly tell the stop of Jesus's birth on Christmas day.
To accompany the rhymes, there are beautiful illustrations on each page. The illustrations are soft and match the tone of the story perfectly. The pictures are exactly what I would pick out for babies and toddlers.
If you are looking for a Christmas-themed baby book, Good News! It's Christmas!, is an option you should definitely check out!
A very sweet story for the wee ones at Christmas time. The pictures are simply adorable & the story is easily enjoyable by all ages. I recommend this to anyone.
Very sweet rhyming story about the first Christmas. Everyone is excited to share the good news! The art is fantastic, and has lots for little ones to look at. You can ask them to find shapes, spot animals, etc.
A wonderful addition to any Christmas story collection.
This is a beautiful and meaningful book to read to young children at Christmas time! “Good News! It’s Christmas” contains the story of the birth of Jesus, Son of God, in the form of a well-flowing poem—with rhyming words at the at the end of every third and fifth lines of every section of text. The illustrations are very appealing with lovely colors, shading, and imagery. Also, the pages of the board book are thick (to prevent ripping or tearing) and glossy (easy to wipe clean).
I recommend this wonderful little picture book to all parents and teachers of preschool, kindergarten, and first grade level children.
Note: I received this book from NetGalley and the book's publisher and author in exchange for my honest review, for which I am very grateful.
