Great read by Pip Drysdale. This was my first read by her and I look forward to what she comes out with next. Would recommend.
I could not get into this book, sorry. Trying to clean up my netgalley. Didn’t realize that I was forgetting to leave reviews on netgalley itself, My apologies.
Taylor is hurt, and angry and wanted to destroy her ex partner Angus in the way that he has destroyed her. Taylor is out for revenge.
Wow, what a debut from Pip Drysdale. This one had me on the edge of my seat and especially for the last quarter of the book I just couldn’t put it down and my heart was racing the whole time.
I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys physiological domestic thrillers.
I want to thank Netgalley and the publisher for generously providing me with this book in exchange for an honest review.
I am sorry for the inconvenience but I don’t have the time to read this anymore and have lost interest in the concept. I believe that it would benefit your book more if I did not skim your book and write a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience.
Angus has burned Taylor in a bad way. In order to get revenge she sets up her own plan. Ok, good premise but Taylor keeps falling for Angus's set ups which I think a smarter girl would have caught on.
Just OK. The writing was good, the twists were predictable, and the characters and motivations were alright. If you're looking for a fast-paced mind-blowing thriller this isn't it. But it made for some light entertaining reading on a car ride.
It has been said that leaving a toxic relationship is one of the most difficult things a person in such a situation will ever do, The amount of willpower and self-control if takes to leave someone who has been manipulating and lying to you ... and not return to the relationship ... is overwhelming. In Pip Drysdale's debut novel The Sunday Girl, Taylor Bishop finds herself trying to leave an all-consuming, poisonous relationship only to find herself being pulled back to it in more ways than one.
Taylor has left her charismatic, yet insidious, boyfriend Angus. This time for good - she has no intention of ever going back. In fact, all she wants is revenge on the liar and cheater. After consulting a copy of The Art of War, Taylor devises a plan to get back at her ex, but soon discovers that vengeance is not child's play. Will her nefarious deeds go unpunished, or will she have to pay for her acts of retribution against the man who shattered her heart into a million pieces? After all, he deserved everything he had coming to him ...
Going into The Sunday Girl, I expected it to be a wild thrill ride focused primarily on revenge, similar to Camilla Lackberg's The Golden Cage. Instead I found myself pleasantly surprised to learn that this novel holds much more depth and insight than a revenge fantasy exacted. Drysdale has written the primer on toxic relationships! She describes emotional abuse at the hands of a master manipulator so well, making this novel both incredibly compelling and terrifying. Angus and Taylor's relationship is bone chilling, and I was fearful for her well-being throughout this book, just hoping that she would make it out of this horrible relationship unscathed. I won't reveal the ending, but The Sunday Girl had me on the edge of my seat until the very last page.
I listened to an excellent audiobook production of this novel narrated by Anthea Greco. Greco was divine as Taylor! Her voice enveloped me in this story and made me care so much for Taylor's character. I found Greco's narration to be entirely believable and her performance to be stellar.
The Sunday Girl is recommended to anyone who has ever been in a toxic relationship, and those who love domestic thrillers.
Love this book! Totally kept me on the edge of my seat and such a page turner!!!! I couldn’t put it down and definitely agree with the girl on the train vibes. Go into it blindly like I did...you won’t regret it!
Addictively twisty read. THE SUNDAY GIRL brings the game of cat-and-mouse to a whole new level. And I am here for it.
An advance copy given for an honest review
I came in to this book looking for some deliciously dark revenge. I enjoyed how The Art of War is interspersed with the chapters, it's a nice hook that keeps Taylor's plot moving.
I expected Taylor to be a stronger character though, and her lack of finesse doesn't really fit with her "art of war" plotting. I kind of wanted this to go darker and have Taylor completely rage out, instead of her kind of bratty responses to the fact that her deplorable ex keeps one-upping her. Stuff gets real near the end and the plot definitely ramps up the stakes.
It took me some time to get into this book, but once I did, I did not regret it. I loved the storyline. This is the first book for me by this author.
After reading the summary again I don’t feel like this book is for me anymore. I look forward to other books from this publisher in the future but for now I am shelving this book for a later date.
This book is great! Would definitely recommend. Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
This was my first read of Pip Drysdale and I'm now a fan. Maybe even an autobuy author for me now. I loved the relationship in this one and when you realize how things can go wrong so fast. How do you know how you can really trust?
Okay, okay...not what I was expecting, exactly! However, WHAT A GREAT DEBUT NOVEL! Our book club all enjoyed it and have this author on our new authors to follow list!
I felt Taylor's betrayal so deep that once she started plotting revenge I was clenching my teeth and whispering "Yes! Yes!" ;) Because truly, who doesn't love revenge? Parts were hard to process and I found myself thinking "why does she let him do that to her?" but I also had to reflect back on a previous relationship and absorb the facts that I'm a hypocrite. :'(
Definitely psychological, also relatable! Can't wait to see what great works come from Pip in the future.
Thanks to Landmark and Netgalley for extending me a copy in exchange for my honest review.
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very good!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not what I expected!!! So good!!!!!
The Sunday Girl By Pip Drysdale
What an amazing domestic thriller read of a great revenge story from a woman who has had enough and in her last straw. Amazing read that had me turning those pages to see how nice girl Taylor Bishop deals when boyfriend Angus Hollingsworth did the unthinkable. Pip Drysdale wrote a fantastic psychological thriller you won't be able to put down. I enjoyed this one a lot!
'The Sunday Girl' is a face-paced novel full of revenge and thrills. It is very easy to read and certain characters lack depth but the general enjoyment of the story will make up for some of it's stumbles.

I was on edge reading this book. I actually would have to stop reading it about an hour before bedtime so I could relax enough to go to sleep. Otherwise I would be too tense!
This book was like an unending rollercoaster of suspense and intrigue. Taylor and Angus had such a toxic relationship. The deceit and lies in this were so thick. And once I got to a certain point I couldn’t put this down because I just had to know how it all ended. I was slightly surprised at the ending, not in a twisty way, just thought something else would happen.

I really enjoyed this book, despite the high blood pressure. 😅 4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks to the publisher and net galley for allowing me to read and review this great book. I can relate to this story as I have been in many terrible relationships. I've been used, abused, cheated on, taken advantage of, etc. Although I've never had the courage to get revenge on an ex for what he has done to me. So it was a way for me to vicariously live through Taylor as she sets out to get revenge on an ex who posted a video of her and took someone else on their planned vacation. I couldn't put this book down as I wanted to find out what was going to happen next. Was Taylor going to come out on top as some of her plans have failed? I look forward to reading more books by Pip as this was a first.
