I enjoyed this book. Sam was a great female lead. A strong woman who is smart, capable, and also caring. I felt she had great dimension a character development. Ryan was also well-written and a multi faceted male lead.

Their chemistry was off the charts, but they were also good for each other in other facets of life. This was a great romance with strong characters!

Seriously love this twist on an office romance. I was not expecting the two main characters to unfold how they did. Bravo! My favorite part was getting to know Ryan on a deeper level than most men get credit for in many contemporary romance novels. His inner thoughts, insecurities and turmoil was so refreshing and new to me. I also enjoyed Ryan and Logan's friendship. I appreciate how the author made it a normal friendship and not one laced with homophobia. The characters had great dimention and were really relatable. I could easily picture them as I was reading. I would and have recommended this book to others who are looking for a contemporary novel that provides equal perspective between both characters that leaves you with all the good feels

Thank you first of all to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book.

There’s no easy way to say this but I didn’t enjoy this book. Don’t get me wrong it was good but the story line wasn’t anything catching to me. I’d set the book down and sometimes I would just move on to another book. It did remind me of Grey's Anatomy, you know Meredith and Derek sleep together Meredith starts her new job and it turns out the person she just slept with was her boss. 🤷🏻‍♀️

To the writing of the story I don’t know if because it was a ARC but when it came to which character was speaking it threw me off. Usually when characters are switched to their point of view there is a header or even a new chapter started. Honestly I prefer new chapters to be started not some one else’s point started in the middle but that’s just me.

This is Sam and Ryan book. Sam doesn’t do one night stands, especially with a man she just met at a bar! But the hot guy at the bar was so hard to resist and it ended in a night she’ll never forget! Until the same guy walks into Sam’s life the next day as her new employee! Sam never mixes business with pleasure so Ryan is so off-limits! But after hours but chemistry is building, can Sam trust her heart and her business with the new guy? His book was definitely worth reading it was a little odd for me I’m not really sure why but like I said it’s still worth reading just not my top favorite. Thank you neck going in the publishers for sharing this book with me!

This was a very enjoyable read. I really liked the chemistry between Sam and Ryan and watching them dance around each other after their initial encounter. Sam was understandably wary following her terrible experience with her ex and Ryan was so much more complex than his initial moody broody first impression implied. I loved watching these two navigate their way into something real and meaningful despite their individual fears and insecurities. I also liked the authors writing style. Overall a really good read.

[Thanks Netgalley for the ebook. This review is my honest opinion but just another opinion, you should read this book and judge it by yourself]
This has been quite a surprise! A good one.
It's a funny and feel-good reading, perfect for the Holidays and when you need a chick-lit book with a great main couple and a lovely love story. It's full of cliches but they're well developed, it's not plain and you're not reading with the constant feeling of "I think I've read this before" that you sometimes can feel with this kind of books.
Although the MC became acquainted very soon, you can see how their relationship develops and it looks very natural. Sam and Ryan are real people to the reader, with insecurities and problems, and I'd really appreciated this (especially in Ryan -it's almost never that you can see a man feelng weak/weaker than his partner!-). I liked them both and I'm happy that the writer didn't use constant misunderstandings between them to give the book a twist. They're always true to themselves, they have great chemistry and they're always joking! I love it.
On the other hand, sometimes it felt too long and there were too many thoughts, but overall I had a great time reading The New Guy and I'm looking forward to reading more of Kathryn Freeman.

No tenía muchas esperanzas puestas en este libro debido a que es de los típicos que pido por la portada y, al final, no me acaban gustado. The New Guy, sin embargo, me ha gustado bastante.

Contemporary, relatable, not cheesy; Freeman's novel is the ideal read to end 2019. Full of both laugh out loud moments and heart wrenching moments, "The New Guy" has the most important factor: it's heart warming.

A gorgeously sweet romance! I loved the main characters & the way they met was hilarious.
I did feel like the story was dragged out at points but I really enjoyed seeing the relationship between the main characters developing. I was also a huge fan of the side characters - especially Lucas!

I would have loved to see how the characters were doing maybe a year down the line but that’s only a personal preference!

"The New Guy" was an enjoyable read with likable characters and a nice twist on the office romance trope (in this version she is the boss). I mostly liked the Hero, but sometimes he was too insecure and some of the humor made me cringe a bit. I really liked the female character, her flaws and attributed seemed more well balance. All things considered, I enjoyed this book and would definitely read another book by this author.

The New Guy is a throughly enjoyable romantic read, from its wonderful opening where Sam CEO of a tech company meets a stranger in a bar, no name no phone numbers but they have a one night stand...sounds tacky, far from it, it was described perfectly.
The next day Sam meets her new employee Ryan who is joining the company to write the code for a new app that is essential to the company’s future, he also just happens to be the man from the night before. Both struggle with this history, particularly Ryan who is taciturn, prickly and says what he thinks out loud. Sam was left heartbroken after her previous partner was unfaithful to her and left her to start his own company so she has trust issues, but it soon becomes clear that these two are heavily attracted to each other.
With their relationship developing and a cast of brilliant characters, from work colleagues to family members you have yourself a page turning don’t want it to end story, in essence an absolutely cracking read.
I would have loved a little epilogue perhaps a year on to see how well the relationship was going, but that’s just me when a book finishes and I really want to carry on reading!
My thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly

I received an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review

Very sexy and very sweet story. I’m taking off one star because I’m sick of the gay guy always being all over straight men for sex even as a joke. But good story. Sigh.

This book reads like the perfect rom-com movie, so if you are a fan of them - this book is for you! I loved the story and how Sam and Ryan interacted with each other. I felt the story was predictable but the writing kept me reading! Perfect lazy read on a Sunday!

What would you do if you met a hot man at a bar, took him home for a steamy one night stand without giving out any names or numbers and then the next day he walks into your office as your new employee? Well that’s exactly what happens to Sam. Stunned to find out her one night stand is her new app programmer Ryan Black, Sam makes it perfectly clear their one night stand is not going to turn into a reoccurrence. But as days turn into weeks Sam starts to realize Ryan isn’t the arrogant, unlikeable man she originally thought and Ryan can’t seem to get his beautiful redhead boss out of his mind.

Will Sam and Ryan give in to their building feelings for each other? Well, nothing comes easy. Throw in office drama, threatening rivals, passed heartbreaks and two adults who can’t seem to stay away from each other but have issues expressing their fears and feelings, and everything is up in the air.

NetGalley has given me some books I’ve never heard of before that I’ve taken a chance on and completely fallen in love with, The New Guy is one of them! This story warmed my heart and read like a movie. Told in the POV of Sam and Ryan, I truly became wrapped up in the storytelling of both characters. What a beautiful sweet surprise this was.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and Kathryn Freeman for this ARC.

A great read!

After a bad week, Sam is in the pub drowning her sorrows. She meets a handsome stranger, and in an out of character move, has a one night stand.
At the office the next day when their new memeber of staff turns up for work she relaises with horror that it is the same guy from the night before.

They both have issues stopping them being together, but how long will they ignore the chemistry between them?

I loved Sam's friends and how they looked out for her.
