Short, simple and sweet with Scripture verses and colorful, engaging illustrations featuring Jesus’ different healings of of body parts and functions: a fever, a paralyzed man, seeing, hearing, speaking, etc.
This book tells of different stories of Jesus healing people. I did like how the scripture was cited along in the story. The wording of the story still felt like it would be hard to understand for children, it was still worded like the Bible, which can be hard to understand. The artwork was not what I expected it to be, and looked more computer generated than like artwork for a children’s book. The artwork looked more appropriate for younger kids but the writing more for older children. The overall message is very good and the book would be a good tool to tell children about the miracles Jesus performed that the Bible tells about.
With text directly from the Bible, Jesus Heals tells children of the various ways that Jesus healed people while on earth, emphasizing different parts of the human body. The story ends talking about how Jesus ultimately healed us all by dying on the cross for us. A beautiful, simple book to read over and over with your kids and remember how Jesus is our healer and our Savior.
Jesus Heals by Danielle Hitchen is a board book about the healing ministry of Jesus for children. In the book, Hitchen retells the stories of healing found in the Gospels. There is a story for all the major parts of the body, head, ears, mouth, eyes, back, skin, legs, and body. She ends the book with the scripture found in 1 Peter 2:24.
This is a very unique book. I don’t think I have ever seen a book about healing for children. And this one was very thorough. There are stories from Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, including the raising of Lazarus from the dead.
Mary fell at Jesus's feet and said, "Lord if you had been here, my brother would not have died." Jesus went to the tomb and said, "Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?...Lazarus, come out!" The dead man came out."
-John 11:32, 40, 43-44
The illustrations that go with each story are soft and beautiful. Each illustration also demonstrates the healing of the individuals found in the stories.
I really liked this book. I love hearing the stories about Jesus healing people. It demonstrates the goodness of God and who he is. He is Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals us.
I recommend this book for parents of children of any age. Hearing about Jesus is what produces faith, and it is wonderful to teach them these truths when they are small, so they will know who he is and what he has done and is still doing.
Many blessings as you grow in the knowledge of him.

This book for children uses Bible references to show how Jesus heals and that he died for our sins. So far so good. Beyond this I'm afraid I found it very minimalist; it's almost too stripped back. I'd have liked something relating to the fact that while many people are healed there are others that aren't, at least not in this world, but that Jesus still stays with them. I feel the pictures are too old fashioned for a young modern audience and I'm not sure they would grab a young child's attention enough. The book is certainly short enough for a young child's attention span but I think they would bore quickly with the illustrations. This book has potential but just falls short for me.
Thanks to NetGalley and Harvest House Publishers for ARC.
This is a wonderful book to help young children learn that Jesus is the ultimate Healer, using examples of how Jesus miraculously healed many people, as is seen in the Bible. This book also teaches children that Jesus died on the cross so that all people could be healed from sin, in addition to basic human anatomy (head, eyes, ears, mouth, etc.). I highly recommend this book for parents of babies and/or toddlers who wish to teach their children these messages.
This book doesn’t work for me. As an adult, I understand what the author is trying to say, but I would have appreciated a little explanation between pages. Even a sentence or two on the first page telling us that Jesus heals every part of the body, before she just starts naming different healing miracles, would have been nice. I appreciated the author bringing the focus back around to our need of a Savior at the end, and not leaving it focused solely on physical healing.
I did not appreciate the change of translation on two of the pages, specifically the use of the ICB and the CEB. I would have preferred her to keep to the NIV.
I received this as a free ARC through NetGalley and Nelson Books, Thomas Nelson. No favorable review was required. It was my pleasure to provide an honest opinion.
Beautiful book. Simple words and easily read. Beautifully but simply illustrated my favourite being the healed hand of the man with a harmful skin disease from Matthew 8 verses 2 and 3.
I was given this book by Netgalley and the publisher. This is my voluntary and impartial review.
Christ carried our sins in his body on the cross. He did this so that we would stop living for sin and start living for what is right. And we are healed because of wounds 1 Peter 2:24.
The miracles of healing that Jesus performed is told in this primer. How each came to Jesus with a request and was healed. The ultimate healing comes on the cross. A primer that shares the Good News of the Gospel and how Jesus came to heal and save us.
A Special Thank you Harvest House Publishers and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
First sentence: Great crowds came to Jesus, “and he healed them. The people were amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled made well, the lame walking and the blind seeing. And they praised the God of Israel.” Matthew 15:30-31
Premise/plot: This board book is a concept book for Christian parents to read with their little ones. The concept is parts of the body—anatomy. The parts of the body are highlighted alongside scripture as stories of Jesus’ healings are shared. Time and time again Jesus heals.
My thoughts: I have honestly never thought of teaching the parts of the body by sharing scripture verses about Jesus’ healing ministry. I do like that it uses actual scripture verses. That’s one way to keep the text biblically sound. I liked the emphasis on Jesus’ ministry. I loved the lead up to the cross. The illustrations are nice.
