I love a romance and this was perfection! This author has quickly become a favourite of mine! A great well written book with great chemistry
Lauren Layne’s stories are always fascinating! Her characters come to life and make you laugh through the entire book!
This one was a quick, funny and heartfelt story. It was a kinda book that will put a smile on your face and leave you feeling simply happy.
I loved the relationship between Robert and Adeline. I loved how she was trying very hard not to be in the spotlight again. And it was really hard not to fall for his charms. The transition from enemies to lovers was effortless and made me a believer that true love can conquer all.
I'm excited to see what happens next in this series because the beginning was fantastic.

Yours in Scandal is a solid romance with likeable characters. From start to finish, this story was smooth and an easy read, if somewhat predictable. While I liked Robert and Addie and thought they made a good couple, I can't say that any specific part of Yours in Scandal stood out from the crowd or left me clamoring for more.
I did listen to some of the audiobook as well and found it to be a pleasant listen with good narrators who fit the tone of the story and characters. All in all, Yours in Scandal was a good read I'd recommend to readers looking for a low angst, uncomplicated romance.
This book was a little slower and I had a hard time getting through it without setting it aside to read something else in between sessions. It was a cute story, there was chemistry, but it just wasn't working for me for some reason that I can't pinpoint. Overall it was good, but probably forgettable.
I always enjoy books written by Lauren Lyne and this was no exception. An easy to read romance which keeps you gripped and reading.
I tried reading this book a number of different times but I just couldn't connect with it. As a huge fan of Lauren Layne, it made me sad because I always enjoy her stuff but this one just didn't catch me so I'm going to throw in the towel. I did purchase a copy to show my support though.
I've only read a few Lauren Layne books, but I almost always enjoy them. Unfortunately I couldn't seem to get into the storyline of this one. I think based on the synopsis I would enjoy the second book more, I've decided to DNF this one and move onto Yours to Keep.
Cute read. I didn't hate it but it also didn't wow me. The story flowed nicely and I enjoyed the banter. Overall, It was an okay read.
"Yours in Scandal" is Yours in Perfection. Citizen magazine’s Man of the Year is New York City’s youngest mayor, Robert Davenport. When his last term as mayor is coming to a close, Robert needs a party to remember. Adeline Blake is New York''s "it" event planner...and also happens to be Robert's enemy's wild-child daughter. Sparks fly in Layne's "Man of the Year" series opener. It's hot, funny, and utterly irresistible.
This is a lovely romance about two truly decent people who are mature, honorable, and able to forgive easily. It’s such a comfort to read about a gentleman in politics who is able to prioritize love over ambition, and who won’t use dirty tactics if it’ll hurt the woman he loves (and because that’s not how he rolls) and a woman who has known very little love in her life but who is willing to forego her own happiness so that the man she loves won’t have to give up his dream. The fact that they find a compromise that works for both of them elevates this story above so many of today’s contemporary romances featuring alpha males. Lauren Layne books are always a treat, and this new series will be welcome by her fans, both current and new.
I received a complimentary ARC of this book from Montlake Publishing through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
Robert is a career politician and Addie is the formerly troubled daughter of his potential opponent. They have chemistry, but she is trying to avoid the spotlight. While the story was okay, I didn't quite believe them together.
Contemporary romance author Lauren Layne has added a political romance to her bookshelf. The new series titled Man of the Year begins with Yours in Scandal, the love story between the mayor of New York City and an exclusive party planner with a hidden past. Robert Davenport and Adeline Blake's relationship starts out with one having an ulterior motive for being in the other's company. But soon an attraction starts to bud and soon business takes a back seat for the first time in their careers. Their lives are forever altered when love becomes a motive.
But with any great love story... there's passion, drama, desire, and a happily ever after.
I received a gifted print copy from the author. I still read and reviewed for the author.
Honestly I did expect to like this more than I did since I love Lauren Layne's books and I'm sure I've read more of her books than anyone else's. Unfortunately this book didn't do it for me although I did like the main male lead, the book was just too slow for me. However, I loved the second book in this particular series.
If you enjoy romance than you will really love this book. I enjoy this authors writing style. I love the political theme of this book. You don’t see that a lot in romance novels. I would highly recommend!
Book 1 in the Man of the Year services by Lauren Layne. Quick read that will help you pass the afternoon and leave you with a smile. Robert and Adeline/Addie were a great couple. They met on false pretenses thanks to Robert’s campaign manager who wanted dirt on her father who is the governor. Too bad, it didn’t work out for the campaign but it did work out for Robert and Addie. Loved this read and can’t wait to read more in the series.
Got and sexy. This book is everything you want. Just when you think you know what's going to happen. I loved it and this author blew my mind
I'm usually not a fan of political story lines because I dislike the lies and backstabbing that happen in politics. However, this book surprised me. It was low on politics and high on romance. I really liked the H in this one. He wants to be as honest and honourable as possible.
The two main characters clicked and I enjoyed their romance a lot. A reformed party girl and a hunky mayor? Yes, please!
A solid start to what looks to be a great series!
I really enjoyed Addie and Robert's story. Ms Layne really gave these two a solid reason *not* to be together--his political aspirations, her party girl background and the fact that her father is a major political rival of Robert's--but of course she also gave them off-the-charts chemistry too, ensuring that them never getting together not an option readers will accept.
There were honestly times that I wondered if she'd be able to give them their HEA after all, but she pulled it off with style :)
If I had to make one criticism, it's that the villains of the story tend toward the mustache-twirling variety--it's a tad bit OTT but easily overshadowed by the fabulous relationships here (Addie and Robert, Addie and her BFFs, Robert and his BFF), not to mention fun banter and the toe-curling romance.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'll get back to haunting Ms Layne's Goodreads page, anxiously awaiting the announcement for book two...fingers crossed that it's coming soon!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher.
I stumbled upon Lauren Layne's books not too long ago and absolutely love her writing. As per her bio she's a New Yorker and she the stories I've read of hers are based in NYC. I think it helps to love these stories because she paints the town she personally lives in so well in her books.
Yours in Scandal focuses on the Mayer of NY, Robert and the Governor of NY's estranged daughter Adeline. She wants to earn her jobs on her own merit not the reputation she built of herself in her rebellious teen years. Aspiring to be NYC's go to event planner is what she has her sights on and taking over the mayor's next party could be her ticket.
Robert doesn't like dirty politics so using Adeline to garner her father's dirty secrets seems very wrong. Though he likes that she listened to what he actually wanted for his event and pulled it off last minute. What he didn't take into account is for Adeline to turn his head, bring out his protective side and to completely fall for her.
As usual though, secrets have a way of raising their ugly heads at an inopportune time and thus creating a distrust between Adeline and Robert. Redemption is key! And this is the best part of this story. Atonement and the time where Robert confronts his campaign manager. Oh happy day!
I know you will enjoy this story if you're a fan of contemporary romances. It definitely covers all the basis and is written seamlessly.
