Lauren Layne strikes again! There are very few authors who have mastered the genre like she has. She never fails to provide banter, witty one liners, sharp writing, and fun characters you can't help but love. Yours In Scandal was a delightful book. I couldn't stay away from it all day. I found myself incredibly invested in Adeline and Robert's story and have never rooted so hard for two people to finally make out. The chemistry between the two was dynamic. I love political romances and this definitely provided all the goods.

To be brief, Addie is the reformed daughter of the governor of New York. She had a rocky past but she's back in NYC and has started all over. She changed her name, look, and demeanor in order to shed her past. Robert is the beloved mayor of NYC and has aspirations to become the next governor of the state. In order to get ahead of his political rival, his campaign manager comes up with a plan that involves Robert getting close to Addie to get information on her father. It turns out that the two fall in love with each other instead.

Definitely one of my favorites of the year so far!

Yours in Scandal was such a fun read. I love a good political romance and Lauren Layne did not disappoint.

Robert is the outgoing mayor and considering making a bid for running for governor. I loved that Robert played things clean. it's a little tough to see a guy like that getting elected because politics are normally dirty, but Layne made it absolutely believable. There was a lot of ways he could of played things, but I'm happy with how he handled things (even if it wasn't always the best thing).

Adeline Blake has reinvented herself and returned to NYC. She's the daughter of the current governor and is putting her partying past behind. She is one of the strongest characters I've read in awhile.

Robert and Adeline are absolutely adorable together. I really appreciated how much they worked through things and let love persevere, while also making the very best decisions for their futures. I thought their political conflicts were well done and realistic.

If you like light political romances pick up Yours In Scandal.

Thank you to the publishers for sending me this book! Lauren Layne has done it again! This was my second book by this author and her writing was just as great to read! It’s witty, fun, and easy to fly through. I literally read this in a day and couldn’t get enough of it. As someone who lives in NJ and goes into the city frequently, the setting was perfect for me! I loved reading about the lavish NYC lifestyle, and of course the romance. Second chance romances are one of my favorites to read and I loved seeing Robert and Addie get their happily ever after! The pacing was great and their chemistry was practically steaming off the page. It was such a slow burn and it had me aching because I just needed them to be together. I did feel like this was overall a light and steamy read even with the twists and turns. Although it was a tad predictable, I loved it and couldn’t get enough of it. I can’t wait to read more from this series!

I was on the struggle bus with this story from almost the very first page. I have read and absolutely adored other works by this author, but something about the way this is written is just not working for me. I don't think it's the 3rd person. It can take me a while to adapt to 3rd person, but it's not typically a dealbreaker. It's perhaps that there was a lot of telling, a lot of exposition, and it didn't seem to flow naturally. I also wasn't really a fan of the set-up between the hero and the heroine. In any case, I was unable to engage very early on and it's ultimately a DNF for me.

Politically-themed romance novels can be very hit or miss for me. But this was a great, lighthearted romance, and I really enjoyed it. While it was a political setting, it was not political. And it was a fun love story. Well-written, quick paced, witty, and a one-sitting read. Robert is a great book boyfriend - witty, charming, sensitive. Addie just wants to stay off the radar and live her life, but dating a politician doesn't really leave room that for. But as a couple, they have great chemistry and a wonder rapport that develops very organically through this slow-burn novel.

Normally I avoid romance with a political storyline but since this was a new Lauren Layne book and she normally has a deft touch with her stories, I decided to go for it and I'm very glad I did. After a couple of more intense reads, this was just the kind of romance I needed, effervescent, good banter, solid friendships, and filled with characters who tried to do the right thing for both themselves and others. Robert and Addie were very cute together and made one of those couples whom you could just see belonged together in spite of the fact that she's the estranged daughter of his political rival and it would practically be career suicide for him to get involved with her. My only problem with this book was that it made me long for a real life politician who is as upstanding and principled as Robert.

Lauren Layne writes some pretty amazing romances so it comes to me as no surprise that this one is another winner! Yours in Scandal has the authors trademark flair, unique characters, and a quirky love story! I fell head over heels for this one and know other will too!

Another fun, cute book by Lauren Layne. Yours In Scandal is a great quick read chick lit book that will leave you waiting for the next in the series. Although this book centers on a romance theme, there is enough meat to it that keeps the story interesting and wanting to know how it will end.

Thank you to netgalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

He's the outgoing mayor of New York City and she's the wild child daughter of his rival for the Governor's seat. What could go wrong? Robert Davenport has designs on the Governor's mansion in New York. He knows his rival, the current Governor, is hiding something but there has been no hint of anything scandalous leaking. Enter his campaign manager with the information that the Governor's daughter has resurfaced with a new name and an event planning business. Addie wants nothing to do with her father and just wants to run her business. She's changed everything about her appearance but can't change who she really is inside. Robert hires Addie's firm for his last party as mayor and to try and get to know her. Soon Robert realizes that he wants Addie for who she is and she wants nothing to do with the political life anymore. Will they be able to rise above the past and have a future together?
This is another great book by Lauren Layne. I highly recommend it.

A lot of this author's books have been misses for me lately, and while I was actually able to finish this book, it was pretty underwhelming. I mean, it was cute, but nothing really happened. The plot was fairly predictable, which would have been fine if I was into the couple, but they didn't really have any chemistry to me. It's difficult to explain; I think they could have had more development and it would have been fine, but it was so short that everything happened too fast. Overall, just not for me, but that was a personal preference!

Great story started off slow to start. I found I had to pick it up a few times before I committed to reading it. The book had good heat and the chemistry between Robert and Adeline was amazing. I love a good story about politics and romance, when you throw in the fact that addie’s dad is the opponent to Robert, you get a story line you will want to see to the end . Will Robert choose his career or love?

Thank you netgalley and Lauren Layne for my ARC

Once you get the set-up of a popular, good-looking mayor of New York who is about the launch an election campaign against the incumbent governor and he’s hiring the governor’s scandalous and sexy daughter-turned event planner in order to get close to her and find out dirt on her father, you can guess where this is going. You know at some time in the book, she’ll find out why he originally hired her as an event planner. And you know that the media is going to get hold of the story that he’s seeing his future opponent’s scandalous daughter and the ensuing feeding frenzy will cast a big roadblock on their romance.

While these predictable plot twists don’t get resolved exactly as I expected, I still enjoyed the journey toward the story’s eventual resolution. Robert and Addie have the sort of witty repartee that you can expect from every Lauren Layne book. Robert Davenport is pretty swoon-worthy as a hero. Why don’t they make politicians like him in real life?

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

I am a huge Lauren Layne fan and could not jump on this story fast enough. I love her stories because of the almost old fashioned charm, sparkling wit and banter between her characters. Robert and Adeline were engaging and compelling and I loved their banter and swoony connection!

I found this story to be adorable. Yes there were secrets and hidden agendas (my pet peeves) but I found it to be refreshing. I especially found Robert and Adeline to be endearing in their reactions to one another. This story was also a little steamier than Layne's usual stories as of late, which was an added bonus.

All in all, this was a cute read that fans of Layne's Stiletto series will love.

I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review! 4 stars! ~Ratula

"Yours in Scandal" is an adorable romance novel by Lauren Layne. The main characters, Robert and Addie, have good chemistry together and work well together to overcome the obstacles in the way of them taking their relationship public. I enjoyed these two characters separately, and enjoyed them even more together! I highly recommend this book to any romance fans!

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

I received an ARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for my review. Lauren Layne is my go-to author if I want a sexy, fun romantic story and this story was another perfect example! Robert Davenport is the youngest and hottest mayor of New York City. He has just been named Man of the Year which is just the publicity he needs to gather if he wants to trade in his title of mayor for governor. Robert wants to have the biggest party of the season to celebrate and make an announcement that he is running for governor. He decides to hire the best party planner in the city, but Adeline Blake is the daughter of Robert's opposition, which could really be a potential problem-or could Addie be just the thing Robert actually needs? This was a charming story-predictable but so much fun!

Yours in Scandal is the first book in the Man of the Year series.
3 stars!!

I had a difficult time getting into to the story because the story starts off with Robert approaching Addie on a lie. Robert's plans to run for governor for the state of New York. To do this he is advised by his campaign manager to hire Addie, who is the former wild child of the current governor, as an event planner to get dirt on her father. I really didn't like Martin, the campaign manager and I would of liked for Robert to have had the guts to not get close from the start to Addie with those intentions.
They are both attracted to each other from the start and because of her wild past she had doubts through out the book of really not being the right person for him. They begin to have a secret relationship. They are great together. They have sizzling chemistry and Addie brings out a playful side of Robert.
All this time he has hidden his the real reason for why he hired her. When she finds out I felt bad for her and him too. Robert is a very sweet guy, but he looses some control when Martin steps in.
When the truth comes out, I was surprised how easily Addie accepted Robert's actions. Though they do fall apart and you can see what a wreck it has caused to their heart. I liked how her friends supported her.
In the end I loved how Robert resolved his conflict in regards to Martin, which made him realize that Addie is worth fighting for and that his future includes her in every step of his political career.

Thank you to the publisher for the ARC provided by NetGalley for an honest review.

Serious, sexy, and slightly frustrating, Yours in Scandal leads off an intriguing new series from Lauren Layne. I've been a longtime fan of Layne's and while I can't say that this is one of my favorites from her, it's a solid story and I'm absolutely looking forward to more from the series. She's found yet another subsection of the New York City elite to write about, focusing on politics and all of the complexities that come with that world.

The story follows Robert, a young mayor who is always responsible, focused on his work and the goals he wants to achieve. His term is almost up and his advisors are thinking ahead to the next rung on the political ladder. In an effort to dig up some dirt on his rival, he's advised to get close to the man's daughter and see if she has any information for him. The sexy yet professional Adeline was once the wild and carefree Addie, but she's undergone a complete transformation in the last few years. Though Robert isn't completely on board with the plan, he's captivated by Adeline and finds himself wanting to spend time with her. Unfortunately, getting involved with his rival's daughter - who is no stranger to scandal - is career suicide for Robert, even if there weren't secrets between them.

Layne's writing is as strong as always, and she brought back the sexy with this book. I loved that Robert is a genuinely good guy, though I did find it frustrating how much he let others dictate his actions (he even allows himself to be set up with Adeline's best friend, which was definitely problematic for me). Adeline makes an interesting heroine - she may appear demure on the outside, but her fire has never truly been extinguished. Honestly, I wish the relationship had been a little LESS tame - while I sometimes felt the chemistry, other times the book had an overly serious tone. There were a few things that bugged me, but I liked the story overall. I'm looking forward to seeing what's next with this series. I received an ARC via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I almost forgot I had this book sitting on my Kindle. I've been in a reading rut lately and have been re-reading some of my favorite series. As I was scrolling through my library I knew this was the perfect book to get me out of my rut and I was right. It was an amazing book that made me laugh, sigh and wish I had a Robert of my own.

I won't lie when reading it I was picturing Robert looking a little like Justin Trudeau but Robert's character made me instantly fall in love with him. Despite being a politician he wasn't smarmy and wanted to do what was right for the people he served. I loved how he didn't give in to the pressures that came with his role and I positively swooned watching him with Addie.

I swear I could picture this as a romance movie that would leave me sighing a happy sigh at the end. A definite must read!
