I'm afraid that if I give an in-depth summary that I will give away spoilers. I am surely not about a spoiler review.
What I will say is that I immensely enjoyed this read. It was fast-paced. We were given the perspective of both the male and female side of the story. I enjoy that as a reader as long as it's done well. I dislike when a writer does both roles in the same mannerisms. I feel that Ms. Layne did a great job of you getting to know the personalities of each character.
The plot was great. The drama was attention grabbing. I liked that there was not added fluff to just make the story drag on. One of the most impressive parts was that the conflict was solved quickly and did not span a majority of the book. I found myself pleading that this would be the case and I was given such a readers gift with that. 3.5 stars
This was a great read. I cant wait to read the others in the series. Thank you #netgalley and #montlake for allowing me an ARC of this book. The thoughts and opinions are solely my own and have not been influenced by outside sources.
Another amazing book by Lauren Layne. I love reading books written by this author. They are always heartwarming. I’m looking forward to more books in this series.
Lauren Layne has done it again! I can always dive right in to one of her books and know that she will not disappoint.....ever! Absolutely love her writing style.
This book is fantastic! I loved the political and scandalous aspect! Adeline is an event planner, she is hired by Mr. Man of the Year himself, Mr. Robert Davenport AKA NYC’s Mayor. Adeline has a few Skelton’s in her closet though. Will their chemistry simmer or do down in flames?
Really great read. I can’t wait to read the next one in the series. Put this on your TBR pile. It will not disappoint.
Yours In Scandal has it all, romance comedy, a bit of drama and a happily ending. The story was well written, laugh out loud funny and heartwarming. The characters were endearing, romantic and sexy. Absolutely brilliant....a five star review, only because I can’t give a higher one!! Happy reading!!
Overall rating- ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Scandalous Stars.
I have to thank Netgalley and Montlake publishing for a chance to review this book.
Lauren Layne is one of my favourite authors. I enjoy reading her books and this one was no exception. I enjoyed the plot, loved the characters, laughed along with their witty banters and had a lot of 'Awww' moments. Its safe to say that come March, Robert and Addie are going to steal your heart and keep it locked in NYC. I just don't know what took me so long to read it but I am so happy that I did.
This book starts with Mayor of NYC and The Man of the year, Robert Davenport and his plan to run for the Governor once his time as Mayor comes to an end. And he was ready to anything to step up for his new job.....except his rival's daughter. Well but hiring his competitor's estranged daughter Addie Brennan (or Adeline Blake) as his new event planner with a secret agenda was one thing but falling for her? that sounds like trouble. And both Addie and Robert troubled the heck out of each other. It was instant chemistry between these two and these two couldn't stay away even as they knew that there was no happy ending.... Or is there? It was a recipe for a great rom-com though. Well I can't say more with out giving it all away but I can definately promise that this is the start of another great series by Lauren Layne. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this. Lets not forget all the awesome friends these two had. I loved Rosalie, Jane and Kenny. Robert was the perfect blend between sweet ,romantic and sexy. So was Addie. I loved the girl and wanted to shake her father and also Martin. But I loved the ending. A perfect one for this awesome couple. The prince finally got his princess and they lived happily ever after with a few bumpy ride along the way to the Senate.
I recommend it to all Lauren Layne and rom-com fans. I can't put it down once I started reading this. I dare you not to love Robert and Addie and all their friends.
Happy reading!
P.S. I still can't figure what took me so long to read this!
Wow. Great book! Sexy, funny, and fun . Lauren Layne is a skilled storyteller ! Love all of her books!!!
A fast but entertaining read.
I liked how this was told from both of their points of view. I didn't expect to like Robert, but as you understood more about him his character was more likeable.
Looking forward to more in this series.
This was a cute book. I liked the relationship between the hero and heroine. I especially liked the heroine and how self aware she was. She made the hero seem a lot more relatable. I thought the secret would be a bigger issue but I like how they moved past it pretty quickly. The conflict in this book was an interesting twist. It was a bit unbelievable that he was the mayor of New York. It seemed like was in the office but never really worked.
Yours in Scandal by Lauren Layne a five-star read you would vote for. This is the first novel in the Man of the Year series, and I can’t wait for number two, how have I never read this author before. This was such a well done, smart, funny romance, I wouldn’t normally pick up a political romance, but this really surprised me. I didn’t know if I was going to like Addison Blake at first, former it girl, more booze and boobs that actual life but then I started to read her and she was adorable, in the best way possible. She was so much stronger than she first comes across, I liked the blazer thing as well, that just added a great little undertow to the story. Mr Mayor, or Robert Davenport as he is less formally known may just be my all time favourite political figure, its just a shame he isn’t real as I know a ton of politicians who could use some tips from him, and not in the bedroom. If you are looking for fun, with a subtle undertow that will keep you interested then this is the one for you.

I absolutely loved this new romance by Lauren Layne. It was mature, romantic with a bit of angst that kept me at the edge of my seat. Adeline is a strong, independent woman who wants nothing to do with the corruptive world of politics. Robert is at this last term as mayor and inspiring to be governor. He hires Lauren as his event planner with the initial intend of using her to further his campaign but the more time he spends with her he realizes there is more to life than politics.
Worth buying!
4 Stars!
This was my first book by Lauren Layne and I really enjoyed it! Adeline is a party planner hired to plan Robert, the NY mayor’s last party as mayor. She also happens to be the daughter of his biggest opponent. Robert was really charming and a great new book boyfriend. Addie was a lot of fun and is just trying to stay under the radar and put her past behind her. Yours in Scandal was just the slow burn I needed. Robert and Adeline had great chemistry and I really liked the romance between the two of them. This book was well written with good pacing and character development. I also loved the supporting characters and am excited to read follow up books featuring them. My only complaint would be it was too predictable with no real twists or turns but it was still a light and enjoyable read. I devoured it in one night and can’t wait to read more from Lauren Layne.

Robert Davenport, newly minted Man-of-the-Year, is getting ready to leave the job he loves as mayor of New York. The next step is to run for Governor, but he has some stiff competition in the form of George Brennan, the current incumbent, who leads a perfect life on the surface. Except maybe for his scandalous daughter, Addie, who has disappeared from everybody’s radar since her wild younger years. Addie has restyled herself as Adeline Blake, and is enjoying her new-found obscurity as a successful event planner.
Robert is fairly certain that Governor Blake is hiding some serious character flaws and he needs to expose them in order to bring the man down in the next election. Robert’s campaign manager encourages him to hire Adeline to plan his last party as mayor. And to try to entice her father’s secrets from her.
Things don’t go according to plan, as you would expect, when Robert meets Adeline for the first time. There is an undeniable attraction between them.
Between Addie’s secrets and the potential to ruin her father, and Robert’s initial motives for hiring her, this book could have had a lot more sensation, miscommunications, and scandals. But Robert and Addie both handle the situations thrown at them like the very mature and responsible adults that they are. The don’t jump to conclusions and instead talk to each other. It was quite refreshing. I suppose it could be considered a bit bland for that, but I enjoyed it the way it is.
The writing is excellent and compelling, and I was really rooting for Robert and Addie. A very lovely read.
I received an advanced copy of the book from Netgalley to review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was a great read. It was filled with hope and love. I really enjoyed it.
I definitely recommend this book and this author. I also look forward to more books in this series.

Lauren Layne can do no wrong when producing enjoyable contemporary romance novels.
Although I wasn't immediately sucked into Robert/Adeline's story, the characters very soon grew on me and I couldn't wait to see how they would navigate various pitfalls to find their HEA.
Lauren Layne writes lovely romance novels to lose yourself in. You become friends with the characters and feel involved in their lives.
The absolute highlight of this book was the development and strength of character of both our hero and heroine. Plus, it’s always lovely reading about two people who genuinely come to care about each other. It’s beautiful.
Considering the political climate these characters live in, the story itself wasn’t overly political. It’s a romance which happens to have characters involved in politics.
Recommend completely to all of my follow romance readers. Your hearts will love this.
I cannot believe this is the very first book I've read from Laura Layne! It definitely will not be the last. Yours in Scandal was a quick read that I loved all the way through. I mean helllooo anything politically themed, sign me up. Layne is a great writer and I fell in love with Robert and Adaline, the hero and heroine of this novel. I wouldn't mind reading another book about them, but I'm excited for the other books in this series. I will absolutely be reading those!
Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy for an honest review. First of all I love Lauren Layne's books, this book was hard to get into but once I did, wow! It is a new favorite. Robert is the mayor of New York City and on the advice of his friend and campaign manager he hires Addie to plan on of his parties. She is the daughter of the governor and Robert wants to run for governor. Addie wants to recreate herself and totally distant herself from her father. These two, oh my heart. I loved, loved, loved this book.

I love Lauren Layne. There isn't a book that she's written that I haven't enjoyed. This book was not exception. If you like Lauren Layne, or a good romance, you will love this.
Flirty and fun! I've read several books by Ms. Layne. "Yours in Scandal" follows like many others. Entertaining, fun, flirty, and sexy.
I loved Robert! An anomaly to see an honest politician! He is funny, thoughtful, snarky, and just a good guy! Addie/Adeline is okay -- trapped in her past for sure and hesitant to let go of her new persona. Overall, I liked her. Great group of supporting characters too. Would love to see what happens with Rosalie!
Would recommend to a friend and would read more by Ms. Layne!
