Eh… I liked the concept but couldn’t get behind Adams character. He reminded me of a teenager - not a man who had been married before. Did not finish
I have received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This is a great addition to the Miller family series. I adored both protagonists, Adam Miller and Lizzy Taylor. Adam has a full plate that he is trying to cope with at the moment. His mother, Leanne is coming for a visit after a several decades absence. He is also still trying to cope with the loss of his beloved wife, Louisa (even though she died 14 years ago at the age of 21) to cancer. He has struggled with his grief and turned his back on everything except for his family and the family ranch. Adam has put the deceased young woman on a pedestal and some thing will come to light that will blow the pedestal to smithereens! His cup has runneth over his breaking point.
Lizzy Taylor has been best friends with both Louisa and Adam. She had a slight crush on him in school, at least, until he saw Louisa and fell in love with her. Now 14 years later, Adam has to come to Lizzy's aid with her young son who was stung by a bee and has to be rushed to the medical center. It is the first time in 14 years that these two former best friends have anything to do with each other.
Adam and Lizzy have a long rough road to follow to get to their HFN. This one was difficult to read at times because of the depth of grief that Adam has to overcome. There really is no time period to overcome the 5 stages of grief.
I loved reading this in it's dual POV format. I was really able to understand Adam so much better when getting that glimpse into his thoughts in a given situation. He was something of a jerk at times with Lizzy but reading his thoughts really revealing a side of him that still had a gaping hole that hasn't healed yet.
While this is the second book of the series, you don't have to read the first book to fully enjoy this one. I would though highly recommend it (to someone over the age of 18 though.)
This is a slightly sexy read so I would not be able to recommend this to anyone under the age of 18.
I am so invested in this series.... The Miller's of Morgan Valley. The Rancher's Redemption is book 2, I think it could stand alone, but why stop here? Kate Pearce writes compelling, clear voiced characters. She doesnt shy away from tough themes and situations. The characters in Rancher's Redemption have definitely been through the wringer, but are engaging and their journey to happily ever after is a riveting story. I, like other reviewers, found the ending a bit abrupt. I am hopeful that we will find out more about Adam and Lizzie in other books of the series. I appreciate a setting that serves as almost a character and secrets revealed, so Im looking forward to the rest of the story!
I received my copy through NetGalley under no obligation.
The Millers capture your heart and hold it within your grasp. There is life after suffering from heartbreak and the ability to feel what you lost maybe different. A moment in time can heal you and give you more than you could’ve bargained for and realize life still goes on. An excellent story that pulls you in with each word.
It was a great book. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline Well thought out and put together. It kept my interest through the whole thing. I recommend it to all. I will be reading more from this author.
Kate Pearce’s second book, The Rancher’s Rebellion, in the Millers of Morgan Valley series will grab ahold of your emotions and hold tight from the onset of the story. Rife with memorable characters, intelligent dialogue, and a plot that’s quite intriguing, you’ll loose yourself over to Adam and Lizzie’s story in just a matter of a couple of pages. The Millers are truly a family who’ll capture your heart...and that your back in Morgan Valley is an added bonus.
This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
Sweet western romance! I am now a fan of Kate Pearce. So glad I was able to read The Rancher's Redemption.
Kate pearce has a way of writing that just pulls you in from the beginning! Just make sure you have enough time to finish the book because you won't want to put it down!
I love the Morgan ranch and family! It was great to visit them again!!
Adam lost his wife. Lizzie is having problems with her ex. Of course the two would come together and sparks would fly! Adam helps out Lizzie and her son when trouble comes calling.
I highly recommend this book, and all of the others in the series! Read them in order, because they build upon the previous book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book.
Kate Pearce never fails me! I really enjoy her books and reread quite often. This is no exception. She is always on my wish list for new books. I have a notification for when she releases new titles too!
The great character and storyline development kept me totally engaged throughout the entire book! I was totally invested in this story as I turned each and every page until the very end!
The second book in The Millers of Morgan Valley series a well written story with a very good storyline the story flowed smoothly from page to page. This is widower, and rancher Adam Miller and single mom Lizzie Taylor and her son's story. There is suspense, drama, an evil ex and his family, letting go of the past, and a second chance at romance. I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing.
The Rancher’s Redemption by Kate Pearce
Book #2: The Millers of Morgan Valley Series
Source: NetGalley and Zebra Books
Rating: 4/5 stars
For all intents and purposes, Adam Miller died ten years ago, the day he buried his beloved wife. In just his early twenties when his wife succumbed to cancer, Adam has spent the past ten years living in the past and refusing to come out of the anger, sadness, and deep depression left behind when his wife died.
For the better part of a decade, Adam’s family has been there to support and love him, but they have never been able to bring him out of his self-imposed prison. Each day, Adam’s brothers, his father, and his sister watch him work their family ranch from sunup to sundown, eat dinner, sleep, and repeat. There is no variety in Adam’s life, no real happiness, and certainly no need for looking towards a bright and fulfilling future. As far as everyone, including Adam is concerned, his life is what it is always going to be, an endless cycle of work that he endures alone.
Lizzie Taylor’s life has one bright, shining spot, her tow-headed little boy whose presence is nothing but pure joy! As a single mother, Lizzie works hard to provide for her son, especially with his biological father so very, very absent. Though she has friends in town, Lizzie’s life would be far easier if her one-time best-friend, Adam Miller would stop ignoring her and come back into her life. To be completely fair, Lizzie would love more than friendship from Adam, but given his history, she would be satisfied with just having him back as her friend.
As both Adam and Lizzie are well aware, life can often be cruel and devastatingly difficult. As if they haven’t both suffered enough, each has now found themselves drawn together over the imminent loss of an old, dear friend. As their friend’s life is coming to a close, both Lizzie and Adam are forced to revisit their own pasts, deal with the issues wrought by the past, and try to work through their current issues to manage some sort of future that is both happy and fulfilling. With so much hurt, uncertainty, and despair between them, it is going to take a miracle to overcome the past and move towards the future.
The Bottom Line: Aaaaaaand, Kate Pearce is BACK!! This is exactly the type of book I have come to expect from both Kate Pearce and the Morgan Valley series. The Rancher’s Redemption is everything I have come to love about the original series and was hoping to find again in this spin off series. Lizzie and Adam are both such sympathetic characters and I wanted nothing but the best for them. Each has such difficulty and sadness in their past that it has hampered their present and future and it seems the only way to get through the mess is to do it together, something they haven’t been in ten years. This book is something of an emotional roller coaster and I enjoyed every peak and valley. It doesn’t hurt that there are a few surprises along the way and frequent visits from old friends and family in the area. This book and this spin-off series are exactly why I love to read series, some characters and some places are just too good to let go!
I had trouble warming up the the H Adam. I preferred the other stories in the series. Overall, an OK story.
This one was only okay. I liked the heroine, but didn't love the hero and felt like the grovel wasn't good enough after the big problem in the middle of the story. The kid was cute, and the problem with the grandparents was scarily real. It makes you super nervous for people who have custody issues. I haven't read any other books in this series, so I don't know how it tracks with the other books.
If you want to read a sweet romance, with thought out characters, this is the book for you! You fall in love with everyone in the book, I really enjoyed this book, and look forward to the next one!
As the second book in the series we continue to learn more of the families from Morgantown. Lizzie is a single mom trying to raise her son the best that she can without the help of his sperm donor or his family. Adam Miller hasn't allowed himself to live since his wife died about 10 years prior. Together, they find what they've each been missing in life.
A quick read, that honestly felt more of a novella than a novel. Not my favorite Kate Pearce novel, but still enjoyable.
Adam and Lizzie are both struggling with pain and lots....can they help each other heal?
A very enjoyable book with engaging characters and an interesting storyline.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor.
Good book. I might have read it twice. That or it is so similar to another book. BUT, I read the full book and loved it. Adam Miller, young devastated widower who lost his wife Louisa to cancer, locks himself away working on the family ranch. Young single mom, Lizzie grew up being best friends with Louisa and Adam. She even had a crush on Adam but when her friends fell madly in love, she was happy for her friends. After Louisa’s death, Adam and Lizzie go their separate ways. Years later, on his way driving into town Adam comes across Lizzie running carrying her son in her arms to the doctor after a bee sting. The story continues. The story is heartwarming. A book in a series which is definitely can be read as a standalone. Being a series there are sub plots that relate to series and other characters in the story. Worth reading.
This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.
Wow, I don't think I could have been so forgiving as Lizzie toward Adam. Their story is kind of sad when her best friend, Louisa, marries her other friend, Adam. The story begins fourteen years after Louisa has died of cancer and Adam and LIzzie had a night of passion after Louisa passed away.
Lizzie has a lot going on with a crazy relative of her one night stand which causes custody issues.
Along with all the custody issues, Lizzie and Adam start seeing each other and sometimes Lizzie doesn't measure up to Adam;s standard - Louisa. Then, add to the mix, Adam's mother Leanne coming for a visit after twenty years - wow, do a lot of secrets get revealed.
Like I said, Lizzie must really love Adam to keep forgiving him for the stupid things that he does! Good thing that in the end, Adam sees what he has done and is working to change himself.
Good to see Daisy and Jackson and sure hope that Ben gets someone after seeing how he really wants a love like his brother's!
As best friends, Adam and Lizzie's story was a heartwarming emotional read. These two find themselves falling in love, but unresolved issues get in the way. Adam still carries the baggage of his wife's death, and now the return of a mother that left the family. Both of those events were years ago, but Adam has never moved on. Lizzie has always been there for him, but his issues are causing more heartbreak than she can handle. She has problems of her own that she must deal with. As others in Morgan Valley stand by them both, some truths are revealed to Adam as he finally comes to terms with his past. Lucky for him Lizzie is still there for him as they finally get their own HEA.**I was gifted "The Rancher's Redemption" by NetGalley and leave my review voluntarily based on my reading** 4.5 Stars!
