this was an enjoyable read with great characters and a great plot. I really enjoyed reading this and look forward to more from the author.

A unique perspective of First Nations life during the 1960s as well as a unique take on the common nostalgia of that era. Whereas the majority of stories about this time focus on suburban youth breaking from tradition, few offer audiences a glimpse of what that change looked like for families and communities outside of cookie-cutter, suburban neighborhoods. This story takes place is a quiet First Nations community, where breaking from tradition can also mean breaking from cultural identity. It is worth reading for the rare "slice of life" Ojibway perspective missing from literature.
