Hot Fudge Murder by Cynthia Baxter is the 2nd book in A Lickety Splits Mystery series, and another fun addition. Kate McKay has left her high powered job in New York to return home to care for her grandmother and open up her dream shop selling ice cream. Kate and her Lickey Splits staff has been hired by a world-famous designer, Omar DeVane, to serve ice cream for the rich and famous. When Omar is found dead at his party, Kate must find out the truth. I really love this book, and can't wait to continue Kate's adventures in the next book. Not only is this book fun, it has a great mystery also. There are twists and turns around every corner. I found this book to be a quick read, with a well developed plot and characters. If you love fun cozy mysteries, I recommend this book.

I reviewed a digital arc provided by NetGalley and Kensington Publishing. Thank you.

I received this ARC via Netgalley and Kensington Books, in return for an honest review. This is the second book in this series but easily read as a stand-alone. Kate returned to her small town, from Manhattan, to help her grandmother. Opening a specialty ice cream store was a way to stay in town and still be employed. Her store has been such a success that she’s invited to cater a major fashion designer’s party, with a focus on ice cream sundaes. The ice cream turns out to be the sweetest part of the catering job. Between obnoxious party attendees and the host’s murder, Kate realizes that she needs to help the police solve the case before her ice cream store melts away with the bad publicity.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this cozy featuring an ice cream inventor!

Kate is invited to scoop at a fashion designers party which would be great but the poor man ends up murdered! (Sadly, not by a hot fudge sundae.)

Kate decides that she needs to solve the case.

It's a fun mystery with interesting characters and potential motives.

I had such fun reading this book.I had never read anything by her before but she is on my radar. As a reader you get use to a celebrating formula for the small town murder mysteries happily this author has set her own tone and happily does it with a bit of humor. I recommend and invite you to enjoy. Happy reading

Kate and her ice cream shop are again the focus of a mystery. In this one, she is present during a murder because she is catering an event. She then sticks her nose into things to find out who dunnit. I have to say that this second book was an improvement over the first one, but, I found myself doing the eye-roll thing often while reading it. I felt as if someone had watched too much Project Runway before writing this book as there were so many parallels among the cast of characters. A lot of the actions of the characters were also eye-rolling and I kept thinking that no one does that. I found most of the book to be unbelievable and irrelevant. I really could not connect with the characters and felt at times it was a bit flippant.

I reviewed this book earlier this year with the following:
This is the second in the Lickety Splits Ice Cream Shoppe Mystery and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I feel as if I got to know Kate better, and unlike some cozy mysteries her investigations didn't seem that far out of the realm of reality. The surrounding cast is delightful with just the perfect touch of romance and relationship development, along with recipes I will be trying! The mystery was sharp and had me guessing until the end. I look forward to many more in the series!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

I don't know why it was re-issued by NetGalley for review.

This is the 2nd in the Lickety Splits Mystery series. I did not read the first book and I was still able to follow along. This can be read as a standalone although I usually like to read a series in order. I do plan to go back and get the first book as I would like more of the backstory of the events in the prior book and on Kate. Kate has moved back to Wolfort’s Roost from Manhattan to help her Grandmother who has health issues. Kate recently opened her ice cream shop and it has been so well received she has been asked to cater events. She has been invited to create sundaes at the fancy fashion designer’s party of Omar Devane. Ice cream particularly sundaes are his favorite. She is intimidated by the luxurious mansion and uppity folks at the party, however, she is happy it was going off without a hitch that is until screams ring out and Omar is found murdered. Murder is not good for the town and Kate decides she needs to jump into the investigation. There is humor and romance (have to admit not a big fan of love triangles.. need to focus on just one please). Highly recommend.

This second helping in the series was even better than the first!
Let me give you the scoop-this is a delightfully delicious book.
The characters were written realistically and were entertaining. The whodunit was well written and kept me guessing.
I was entertained from start to finish and look forward to reading the next in the series.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Warning, this series will make you crave ice cream with all their yummy flavors, but it's worth it to visit with Kate and her family in a charming settling, wrapped up in a mystery that keeps it interesting and keeps the reader guessing.
