Like fine wine, this series gets better with time and when I turn that last page, I know I’m going to miss this lovable group of characters.
Well-written, tightly woven whodunit that had me completely immersed in all aspects from the introduction of Tess to the gathering of the Seaside Knitters to the lovely squeals of Abby and of course the murder. The author did a great job in staging this mystery where the suspect pool was plentiful, but it was the tidbits of discoveries and a few strategically placed twists and surprises that brought this story to fruition. Everyone played a pivotal role in how well this tale was being told and I embraced every single word, especially when the pieces fell into place. This is one of the best in the series and I can’t wait to see where we go next in this delightfully endearing series.
Welcome once again to Sea Harbor, home of the Seaside Knitters, and the 14th mystery in the series.
Birdie’s granddaughter, Gabby, witnesses a somewhat tense encounter between her science teacher Tess Bean and Harbor Club owner Bobby Abbott that becomes germane when Bobby is found murdered a few days later.
In their own way, the Seaside Knitters – Birdie, Cass, Izzy and Nell – begin gathering information, especially since a good friend may be a suspect. Gracie Santos owns the Easy Lobster and Soup Café, a favorite place for the knitters that sits next door to the Harbor Club, and ignores pressure from Bobby to sell out. Tess Bean may also be a suspect. She is behind organizing community awareness around the issue of being eco-savvy – like cleaning up the beaches, collecting all trash before tides sweep it out to sea – and the employees at the Harbor Club throw trash off the dock at the club’s backdoor.
A Murderous Tangle combines a comfortable visit to Sea Harbor with an intriguing mystery. The author provides appropriate red herrings, interesting twists and a healthy pace to keep readers engaged.
There's just nothing quite like close women relationships. Sally Goldenbaum writes about her women characters in a caring and believable manner. Another delightful entry in a terrific series.

A cohesive group of friends, a capable new activist teacher, missing oddments from various local businesses, a tweenager with her elderly grandmother, too many secrets and lies, and a murder. Although this is part of a series, there's no sense of missing something other than whodunit. Much misdirection and red herrings add to the suspense, and the characters are so engaging that you feel that you know them. Loved it!
I requested and received a free ebook copy from Kensington Books via NetGalley. Thank you!
Another wonderful visit to Sea Harbor, Massachusetts! I love spending time with the Seaside Knitters. Nell, Birdie, Cass, and Izzy have such a strong friendship. These books would be wonderful even without the intriguing mysteries. There are a few new faces in town and it's hard to know who is good and who might be up to no-good. But the Knitters are determined to find out before a pall is cast over the entire holiday season.
While this is the 14th book in the series, anyone can pick it up and fall into the rhythm of winter days in Sea Harbor. The strength of the characters relationships is what sets this series apart from others. Let's hope there are many more to come!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.
A new business has opened in Sea Harbor and the owner wants to close Gracie down and expand. When the man is found murdered, not only is Gracie a suspect, but so are many others, including Tess Bean, a newer resident and part time teacher at the school. But the ladies don’t believe Gracie or Tess are guilty and begin to put the pieces of the puzzle together.
As they go along they realize some members of their community aren’t who they thought they were, and others are struggling with issues of their own. But the community takes care of its own and there is a whole lot of love and care that the townsfolk have as they try to help in anyway they can. But will all the pieces come together for Izzy and the gang and will they uncover the evidence they need to take it to the police before the murderer strikes again.
A charming and quaint setting with a group of women that have come to feel like friends. Well developed characters and a solid story line with enough red herrings to keep you guessing who the murderer really is until the very end.
A Murderous Tangle is filled with secrets and lies, creating a web of deceit that leaves Izzy, Nell, Cass and Birdie trying to untangle the mess.
Birdie's granddaughter Gabby is talking nonstop about her new teacher, Tess Bean. It seems Miss Bean has a way with young people and her save the earth beliefs are creating waves.
Not everyone is open to making the changes necessary to lead an eco friendly world, and when Tess is seen arguing with someone who becomes a murder victim, it's up to the group of friends to discover the answers.
I absolutely loved this book and was drawn in from the beginning.
I highly recommend this book and this series.
While I enjoy this author's other series, Queen Bees Quilt Shop, I have had a difficult time getting into this one. This is the second one I've tried. I don't know if it is just too many characters for my old brain or if it is something else. I do like the town and how everyone works together to solve the mystery.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.
A Murderous Tangle by Sally Goldenbaum (Seaside Knitters Mystery) 3.5 stars
This is the newest entry into the Seaside Knitters Mysteries. I have been reading this series since the beginning and it is nice to visit old friends. The mystery was a slow reveal and there were several possible suspects offered. I thought the mystery was just so-so. What keeps me coming back is the see the friendship between the Seaside Knitters and the progress of their lives. I look forward to the next Seaside Mystery.
Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Books for this ARC.
I love Sally Goldenbaum books. They are mysteries normally with a murder but they are gentle and more about the friendship and life of the knitters in the story. Each book shows how those lives are progressing and show them growing older, growing up, and adding new life as in this book. There are sad things that happen but everyone there helps out. As they said 'it takes a village' I especially love how they take care of the dog Red in this book too. The conclusion to the book was perfect and the murderer made perfect sense. #AMurderousTangle #NetGalley
Love visiting with the seaside knitters. and an interesting trip into Hygge and sustainable business. It always fun to learn about something new while enjoying a good read.
Christmas is approaching in Sea Harbor, Massachusetts, and the members of the Seaside Knitters are all atwitter with stories about Tess Bean, a young and dedicated environmentalist. Some love the activist, including Birdie’s granddaughter and Izzy’s Irish setter. But others don’t take to kindly to Tess questions some local business owners about their unsustainable ways of doing business. After Tess makes a very public vocal attack on a local bar owner, he ends up dead after a nasty fall and Tess is suspect number one. Throw in someone who is breaking into local shops and things are definitely not merry and bright in Sea Harbor. It looks like it’s up to the Seaside Knitters to stop another crime wave. Goldenbaum’s characters have become old friends to readers of this cozy series and they will be delighted to spend more time with them on a new adventure
