Wow, what a ride! This book starts out a little slow but when it get moving, it moves fast. It has a lot of tense, triller moments, ending with a big bang. Lucy goes to an island to get a story about a family that's living there with only 19th century amenities. It starts out well with a family dinner and evening but in the following days quickly turns into a dead body, destroyed ships, then missing twin boys, and more. Definitely worth the read. #InvitationOnlyMurder #NetGalley

I swear I've read this before, but didn't mind rereading this gripping tale full of crazy ups and downs. Well done to the author for capturing the lifelike friction that can happen in real life with newcomers and long term residents.

Really gripping book by Leslie Meier! Lucy Stone visits a private island turned “pre-electric/ eco-friendly” for a puff piece. But then a death occurs and no one is sure it was really an accident. Other crazy things occur too! I enjoyed that we got to meet “new characters” as she went off to a new island. Overall, a great book!

Regular Mainer, Lucy Stone doesn’t normally travel in the same circles as the uber wealthy, but she’s going to get the chance when she travels to a private island owned by Scott Newman for a feature article she plans to write. Newman is a billionaire with a conscience (supposedly), as he has turned the island into an eco friendly hangout. And while Newman likes living like it’s 1899, the other residents don’t much care for losing their electricity and cell service. When Lucy finds one of Scott’s daughter’s dead from an apparent fall, it at first appears to be an accident, but with the locals dislike of Scott and the changes he has brought to their island, it soon appears something more sinister is at work. Meier does a really good job of capturing the very real friction that occurs when wealthy newcomers infringe their desires and beliefs on people that have lived in the same place for generations.
