i love this series. to be honest i didn't see these two together at first because they are so different and i didn't really feel their connection but this book sealed it. great book, loved seeing some old favorite characters.
I absolutely adore Alexandra Ivy. Her books run seamlessly together, giving you one fascinating story after another. This is the story of Ulric and Rainn. Ulric is a were and Rainn is a zephyr. We once again get to encounter Inga and Levet, as well as Tarak and Chiron. It was great having the whole gang together again. My hat's off to you. Another story for the ages!
What can I say but awesome? Conquer the Darkness is another great story in the series. Superb writing and wonderful characters. Loved it.
This is the 15th book in the Guardians of Eternity series. This story follows Ulrich, a were and the last of his pack on a Journey back to the past.
Rainn is sent by the Oracles to guard Ulrich and to do whatever is needed to help, even at the risk of her own life. I love this story, it flowed together with the last book in the series effortlessly. It's wonderfully written, full of action and suspense, and a beautiful love story.
I reviewed a copy of the book from NetGalley.
While on a run to let his wolf side out, Ulric, whose entire village was thought to be wiped out centuries ago, spies a women he thought dead as well. But when he pursues her, she disappears only to end up at the casino in Las Vegas where Ulric works. He is determined to track down Brigette no matter how suspicious the circumstances. Once an exceedingly stubborn wolf sets his sights on a goal, nothing including common sense will deter him. Ulric is not on his own because someone is pursuing him. Rainn, a zephyr sprite, has worked with Ulric for years with a hidden agenda. She has been tasked with a seemingly impossible job to fulfill a prophecy that centers on this stubborn shifter.
Ulric insists on tracking down his long lost cousin even though Rainn warns him that this whole mission reeks of a trap. On hand to “help” in his own inimitable and often comedic way is the gargoyle, Levet, who has fewer fans that he would admit too. Tarak and Waverly also lend their strengths and talents because it is clear Ulric and Rainn are fighting something seriously evil that could have a disastrous results for their whole world.
While on their perilous expedition, Ulric realizes Rainn means more to him in an ardent way, but she has some secrets that compel her to remain at arm’s length because of an Oracle ordained assignment. Ulric frustrates Rainn quite a bit with his head long rush into danger refusing to believe Brigette’s appearance is anything other than a miracle. Clearly Ulric and Rainn have a strong attraction for one another so that is part of the journey as well as overcoming the very powerful evil that would rule them all. At book #15 in the series, most readers will be familiar with several of the players and know what to expect in the way of a fast paced, often humor filled, adventurous story
This is book 15 in the Guardians of Eternity series and at the very least you should read the previous 2 books before reading this one. In this one we get Ulric and Rainn's story! Ulric had thought his whole pack had been lost years before when he suddenly see's Brigette and gives chase to find out where she has been. He doesn't expect for someone to follow him while he follows her. Rainn knows that Ulric is at the center of a prophecy and has been charged with keeping him safe, even if that is from himself. She doesn't expect that to mean they will face an evil they have never seen before or that he will come to mean so much to her.
I love how this seems to pick up right from where the last book left off, and that we still get to see characters that we love! Ulric has always been this character that I wanted to know more about. I just never expected his story to be as heart wrenching as it becomes. Rainn has always been mysterious and this book explains exactly why she has always been so. There is action right from the start along with suspense and I loved that! My only drawback is I felt like I was left needing to know more about a certain character introduced later on who helps them. I am hoping there will be a book about her, especially after everything she went through!
I have read most if not all of these books. I enjoyed Ulric and Rainn from previous books, but found their sudden "mateness" to not be believeable. How could they be around each other for 20? years and not know they are mates? It seemed like Rainn's attractions was out of the blue and Ulric's wolf "was ready". Otherwise, the story was compelling enough but the romance wasn't.
I always enjoy this series and confess I'm loving the way these recent books are following on with the characters so quickly. We've only just got over Tarek getting his freedom whilst shaking up the Mermaids world and now we are straight back with Ulric . You have to feel for the werewolf though because he believed he was the last of his Pack so seeing his sister stroll through the hotel he helps run is a huge shock. Time to return to his birthplace and find out what she's been up to. Rainn accompanies him but she has a secret that is about to come to light and you could say that it's always been fated !
Ok I'm going to say right away my favourite parts are the glorious and terribly arrogant Levet ! Add in his feelings for a certain Ogress and for some reason I'm seeing a whole new version of Shrek ! They however are in some ways incidental because obviously this is the romance that brings Ulric and Rainn together and sadly for me they didn't work. They've known each other over twenty years and suddenly bam they are in love ! I just couldn't believe it. I did however enjoy the resolution to the story and I'm so hoping the author revisits the female who makes such a dramatic appearance near the end oh and a certain Imp is definitely someone I want more of. This was fun to read because yes I'm a huge Levet fan but it also featured some of my favourite Vampires from this series so even though it's not my favourite I would still recommend it.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
I felt for Ulric. He believed he was the last surviving member of his pack, until he runs into a woman who looks like his cousin, Brigette, and smells like pack. He’s determined to find her, but what he gets isn’t the happy family reunion he was hoping for.
Rainn, a zephyr sprite who works with Ulric, follows him on his quest to find Brigette. She’s on a quest of her own, having been sent to fulfill a prophecy that wasn’t made clear to her. I felt for her, too, as she was ripped from her home and sent on this journey.
I liked the pair together. While Ulric was determined to see the best in Brigette, Rainn keeps her head and lets him know that not everything is what it seems. She’s the voice of reason when he, himself, can’t bring himself to admit the truth.
This is the 15th book in the series, but it can be read as a standalone. For those who have read other books in the series though, you’ll get to see quite a bit of Levet, the gargoyle. I’ve always enjoyed him, and he provides for some laughs in this book. I’m looking forward to seeing what he gets into next.
Those who enjoy paranormal romances will enjoy Conquer the Darkness. Even though this is the 15th book, the author manages to keep the series fresh and interesting.
Loved reading the awesome and amazing fifteenth book in the Guardians of Eternity series. When Ulrich, a were and the last of his pack, sees someone who looks like his long lost sister, Bridgett.
Rainn has been called by the Oracles to guard Ulrich and to do whatever is needed to end the evil that is lurking even if it means her life. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, full of action and suspense, riveting and engaging love story.
I reviewed a copy of the book from NetGalley.
Rainn is a zephyr. She carries the mark of the Oracles. She feels she cannot be free because she is promised by the oracles to sacrifice herself in a battle against evil. Ulric is a werewolf who follows Rainn to fight the evil. Will they be able to mate in the face of what seems like a battle to the death? The characters and plot are well developed with plenty of thrills. sympathetic. The world building is also well developed. The romance is satisfying without explicit sexy scenes. Could be suggested as YA. Although part of a series it can be read as a standalone.
I would recommend it to my patrons.
It is great being back in the supernatural world of the Guardians and this story keeps with the excitement and feel of that world, but has a fresh and unique feel to it. We met Rainn and Ulric in Darkness Returns and the story is more enjoyable if you have read some of the other books, especially Darkness Returns and Beware the Darkness. This story is full of surprises and twists, despite thinking you know what is going to happen at different points. There is humor, action, suspense, mystery, magic, paranormals, and romance.
*I received a copy from NetGallely and have voluntarily left my honest review.*
I loved Conquer The Darkness. Ulric and Rainn were both great characters who fit together perfectly. It was fast paced, and exciting. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
It’s always great to return to the Guardians of Eternity. This release is with Ulric and Rainn as the h/h. We have meet both in past books so it was nice to see them get their HEA. I didn’t feel the chemistry between this couple but I enjoyed the overall story. Ulric finds a cousin he didn’t know was alive since his entire pack died centuries ago. Bridgette is not the same and leads Ulric into trouble. Rainn tags along to help and to fulfill her own destiny.
It was great seeing Levet and Inga together again. Will Levet finally get his HEA?
This was a fast read with some good action and some visits from past hero’s. I’m looking forward to the next release.
Yes,yes, yes! These stories just get better and better. This writer makes you yell no when the book ends! Ulric is a were. After being rescued from slavery he becomes partners with Chiron in his casino. When a female were comes in one night he scents family. Problem is, his family are all dead! Rainn is a zephy sprite who is on a mission given to her by the oracles! When Ulric decides to go home he has some uninvited guests join him. Rainn who is guarding is back, and yeah that petty gargoyle Levite is back. Gotta love that gargoyle!

This is the 15th book in this series and it just gets better with every installment. You can look forward to all the adventure and romance we’ve come to expect from a Alexandra Ivy book. The world building is superb. I don’t ever want this series to end.
Ulric is the only surviving member of his pack or so he thinks. Then into his casino walks a woman who smells like family.
Rainn is a rare zephyr sprite. She has been chosen to stop a prophecy of evil. She knows this woman is setting a trap. After knowing each other 20 years they realize they are mates. Of coarse the book would not be complete without Levit our favorite tiny gargoyle. He has to be there to help save the world again. Inga the Queen mermaid- ogress also makes a prominent appearance. These two together make for the best laugh out loud moments.I think there might be a unusual romance brewing between these two. We’ll have to see what happens in future books.
Ulric is the last werewolf of his pack. He has been with Chiron, a vampire, for years and owns half the casino in Las Vegas. Rainn is a zephyr sprite and has been destined by the Oracles to fight an evil entity. She was sent to watch Ulric because he has something to do with the evil she must fight. When Ulric gets a glimpse of a woman, whom he thinks is his cousin, he follows her. But is it a trap or will it be a family reunion?
Demons, wolves, gargoyles, and many other supernaturals. Action and mystery. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for NetGalley *
4* Another good tale in the GoE series, filled with intrigue, new characters and the usual glimpses of the good old deja vu stuff.
I'd say that you do have to read the revamped GoE books in order to be able to figure out what's been happening and who's who. This one follows on pretty much immediately from Tarak's book and we get glimpses of him and Waverley, as well as Inga and Levet, Chiron and Lilah, and Cyn and his mate. There's more of a tale to this one than in the last couple of books, and for me, it has me wanting to read more books in the series right now, rather than thinking that I may read them when they come out, if I've nothing else on. This tale has revamped things, it feels like, and I wonder if we've been introduced to yet another female guardian in Chayaa? I hope she gets a tale of her own, as she's from a time when people were superstitious and she ended up with a cruel fate...
But, back to this storyline: you have betrayal and the Beast, a bad-guy type that gets bigged-up a lot but then suddenly gets taken out without enough gore in my book, pardon the pun. Yes, it worked for the tale, but I expected a Buffy-and-the-Big-Bad type of final showdown and was a bit bummed that I didn't get one. The romance in this - and this is not a criticism - took a back seat to the happenings, and that worked for me. It's a guarantee that the leads of each GoE book will end up in a HEA, but here it didn't seem all that important, as events in the tale had me wondering about the finale (which is where the tale lost a *, due to how a-little-too-easy it seemed). I think I 'saw' Rainn more than Ulric in this tale, though each had their role to play in what happened. I hope that we see more of her in future tales, as she also got dealt a cruel hand, and, she's one of the more hands-on, kickbutt female leads, and one with a destiny that she had to fulfil.
Where does the series go next? I'm not sure. There's another baddie who intrigued me in this tale, who's been imprisoned and who will be dealt with later. I'm not sure that person can be redeemed, so I can't figure out their role as the series continues, but I am intrigued to read more. This book confirms my suspicions about a couple of characters that I suspected had feelings for each other, but I'm not sure how they could ever be together, unless there's a touch of Shrek magic and things work out for the best. But, I'm also clueless about the appearance and machinations of the imp Troy, who I'm sure has appeared before. Is he lead material? Not so sure, but I suppose that when someone's this flighty and seemingly self-serving, there's always scope for the tables to be turned. Like I said, I want more of this series now, now that I've read this tale.

I enjoyed the latest book in the Guardians of Eternity series. This is Ulric and Rainn’s story. Ulric is a werewolf whose pack was slaughtered many years ago, so when he sees a cousin he thought long dead he's shocked. He must find out where she's been and if any more family is still alive. Rainn is a zephyr sprite, the stuff of fairy tales. Together they fight and overcome terrible obstacles to save their world. Lots of action and paranormal romance make this a great read!
