This book was so adorable, I loved everything about it, the illustrations were so well done, they suited the book perfectly, the story was amazing as well. I’m sure the kids are going to be just as enthralled with this amazing book as I was. I will definitely recommend! Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this early copy
My students, although a bit on the older side of the appropriate age range, seem to enjoy this series. The pages are colorful, and the rhyming help some of the lower-capable students interested. These could be used as a great way to introduce a social studies unit about a country.
A fun little gem that my daughter loved. Beautifully illustrated and engaging for young children to learn about different cultures and locations across the world. I can imagine the physical copy would further enhance the experience.
Tiny Travelers China Treasure Quest by Susie Jaramillo is a part of The Treasure Quest Series that includes Tiny Travelers China, Tiny Travelers Mexico, and Tiny Travelers Puerto Rico. Tiny Travelers China is filled with colorful illustrations and facts about China. Fun learning for kids and adults. #GoTinyTravelers #NetGalley
This is an amazing book - in fact an amazing series of books which encourage children to read about other places and cultures. I love its colour and it readability and vibrance. Especially during the pandemic it is a good way to travel from the comfort of your own armchair. I love this book.
I would have loved to give feedback as this hit my reading buttons - nonfiction and foreign travel. I believe that is important to expose people to other cultures and to do so in a positive manner.
As I've traveled to China, I especially wanted to see how accurate this was. Sadly for me, the ARC format did not work either in the NetGalley app or my Overdrive app, and I have not been able to read this.
I would have preferred to omit the star rating but this review Canmore be submitted without a star rating.
Teaching children about other cultures is so important, and these books make it easy and fun to do! We started with China as my husband and I honeymooned there. We enjoyed learning more about the culture while showing our kids some of the things we have seen.
This board book was wonderful. I really like the bright colors and fun artwork. One of the things that really draws me to this series of book is the way that children can interact with the text, by looking for different cultural icons on each page and at the end looking for the 'regional' animal found on every page. Another aspect that draws me in is that each page is a different city, town, or region. Learning about not just the country but different important places in that country is so essential for a book like this. I believe that children will love this book as well as adults. There is so much to learn and see on each page!
The Tiny Travelers Treasure Quest series are search and find books for children that whisk them off on an adventure to China, Puerto Rico or Mexico. These picture books are full of fun facts and beautiful illustrations that children and parents will want to revisit over and over again.
The Treasure Quest series includes Tiny Travelers China, Tiny Travelers Puerto Rico and Tiny Travelers Mexico. Having traveled to all three destinations, I was excited to explore these books and see what adventures and fun facts were highlighted in these picture books. (I have included some photos from my own travels to each of these destinations at the end of this post – scroll down to check them out!)
These children’s books are filled with full page spreads of detailed illustrations that highlight a particular part of each country’s culture. Each page has a cultural item for young readers to find, as well as a fun fact. Some of the fun “Did You Know” facts were even new to me! Like, in Tiny Travelers Mexico, one “Did You Know” fact was, “There are three different colors of corn tortillas: yellow, red and blue.”
I really enjoyed the way Tiny Travelers used foreign languages throughout these books. In Tiny Travelers Puerto Rico, Spanish is included in the rhyming story, and in Tiny Travelers Mexico and Puerto Rico, the location names are used with the pronunciation written in next to the bolded Spanish word. Similarly, in Tiny Travelers China, Cantonese words, written in both their English alphabet and in their traditional Chinese letters are included next to their English word.
The final page in all three books is a map of the world and the country from the book is highlighted, which is a great way to put in perspective how big and connected our world is to children, as well as teach them where these countries are in the world.
The Tiny Travelers Treasure Quest series is definitely a fun series for small children who will enjoy the search and find aspect of the books, as well as learning about other countries and their cultures.
This is a fantastic children's book, which I loved. The graphics are so beautiful and the whole book is quite comprehensive. It contains a lot of knowledge and information about China, the Chinese people and different Chinese traditions. It is very interesting and useful, therefore I highly recommend this book.
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
What an adorable children’s story! It’s so important to introduce children to other cultures. This book is a great way to do so. The pages contain beautiful, vibrant, and detailed illustrations that highlight various cities and attractions in China.
Children will be delighted with the use of rhyming and search-and-find activities throughout the story.
I loved learning about the culture and country of China. It made me want to book a trip!
I would have loved to see a few more pages added to this book.
Nĭ hăo!
First of all, love that there is a map, teaching children exactly where China is, and which other countries surround it.
Each page has the main text but also facts scattered throughout the pages, and gorgeous, very detailed illustrations to keep a young mind occupied for a long time. Certain phrases or names are pointed out and are given a translation in Chinese which is excellent!
Kids can collect their Tiny Traveler stamps if they find the item prompted by a question in one of the corners, on each page. I am an adult, but even I had fun doing this! One detail I have to mention is the cute little cat, that appears on each page! Like a game of Wheeeeere's Catto?
An absolute ten for this one!
This is a wonderful book to read with my kids. The colors are bright and colorful, easy to read, and offered great discussions about the country and landmarks. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a gifted copy. This is my honest review.
Beautiful, vibrant, colorful pictures to engage the senses and visual curiosity of small children. A fun, diverse, and creative tour through China, which includes cities, architecture, music, wildlife, nature, traditions, and languages (and much more)! With fun facts tossed in, a harmonic rhyming text, and an interactive and engaging puzzle search, this book is sure to grab the attention of youngsters, informing them, while at the same time fascinating and entertaining them!
Well done informative book for young readers. Gives them a full look at the culture in an easy to interpret form. Bright, eye catching illustration that kids will love. Very educational and would recommend for schools.
Oh my! I am blown away! This book is so simple but so informative. I love the colors, the searching, and the way that the information is presented in a fun way. China is such an important part of our world and has impacted so many different parts of our world. I love that this provides a glimpse into the world of the Chinese in a bit sized manner, perfect for lower elementary school students. This is a great way to wet the appetites of the young students and introduce them to a vibrant culture they may not be familiar with. I am eager to read the other books in the series and investigate adding them into my classroom.
This book allows the reader to explore the landscape and culture of China through vibrant images and beautifully written text. I'm a huge fan of any book that can keep a young reader engaged so the quest in this book is awesome. I also loved how much detail is on every page and how easily any reader could find themselves fully absorbed in this book. I highly recommend this entire series to school teachers and librarians as well as parents of early readers through elementary grades.
Tiny Travelers books are so neat! I love that it has a little information splashed with a little fun on every page. Kids will enjoy learning about different countries and hopefully want to know even more!
These books are fantastic!! We have been using them during our homeschool hours to have fun while learning more about the world we live in! There are lots of facts to learn about each country, but it is shared in a way that does not overwhelm young learners. My daughter is 6 and loves these books!!
Extremely cute and surprisingly informative little board book intended for children. I've studied China and traveled their regularly, and I appreciated that this little book went so far beyond the Great Wall and very typical tourist themes that Western tourists in China might think of first. Pictures are very well done, and the book introduces many details without being overwhelming.
