I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you NetGalley.
I can't wait to read this actual book. The excerpt was exciting!
The introduction at the beginning was extremely helpful to introduce you to the world.
I'm excited for this book!!
I tend get overwhelmed with learning about new worlds in fantasy books so I love that there’s a short introduction in the beginning! It was helpful. There’s something captivating about the world in this one. I’m checking out the book when it’s out for sure.
Interesting, can't wait to read more than just the excerpt. I haven't read from Sara before but but she will be on my radar now.
Consisting of a diverse and unique new-world, dynamic protagonists, distinct antagonists, and a gripping plot-line, Sara Hollands new-series shapes to be an elegantly composed master-piece. Within the work, all the characters have a dimensional depth that surpasses typical fantasy themes.
Whilst the P.O.V leaves more to be desired, the fast-paced plot-line consisting of twists and turns to shock the reader begin from page 1. This alone redeems the book from the world of 3.5 Stars, and thrusts it solely into 4.5
If I was pumped for the release of Havenfall before, now I am even more so! Through a recent read of Sara Holland's Everless duology, as well as this excerpt, I have fallen in love with this author.
Needless to say, I shall be heading to the bookstore first thing on March 3.
I'm looking forward to read the finished book after reading this!
I really enjoy Sara Holland's writing, and I have a feeling, that this book is going to be as good as the others!
Monsters, mystery, haunting mountains - Havenfall has all that and more. The excerpt I received includes some background descriptions about the different realms (each vivid and unique), a prologue, and the first two chapters. I was unexpectedly drawn in by the preliminary information, but even if I'd skipped that, the same information is leaked very well during the opening pages alongside rainy descriptions of a mysterious mountain town.
I wasn't a fan of Everless, but so far, Havenfall promises to exceed expectations.
I'll be dead honest, I really expected more. I know it was only 2 chapters but I really was not drawn in. I felt like nothing really happened and based on what I read I would not have read any further. If there was maybe 2 extra chapters my opinion might have been different.
I only got to read an extract of the first two chapters, so my thoughts only reflect the portion I read.
That being said, those first few chapters completely drew me in. Havenfall has a lot of promise: Mystery, politics between worlds, and magic for starters.
Havenfall (the inn, not the town, or the book) exists at a magical crossroads between adjacent worlds. Only four worlds are know. To exist now and one has been magically closed due to conflict one hundred years ago, but trouble is still brewing. Haven, the only world without magic, is essentially neutral territory.
We seem to have a pretty cool heroine, Maddie, and she has an encounter with a mysterious woman on a motorcycle in the middle of the night. At the moment their relationship seems to lean heavily toward the enemy/rival side of things, so I’m interested to see where that goes in the future.
I’m also interested to explore more about her brothers death, and why her mother is on death row, and how it all ties in to Havenfall.
All in all, I’m looking forward to reading Havenfall in its entirety this coming March!
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC of this book. I really enjoyed the story and the characters. Can't wait to read the next book in this series.
Sara Holland does it again! I think I love this authors writing style and the worlds she builds. I cannot wait to get a full copy of this in my hands!
I loved this excerpt and I'm curious about the rest of the story.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley
I was given an excerpt of this title in exchange for an honest review:
The first chapters of Havenfall are mysterious and enticing and there's a lot of potential for a really great read - it was so easy to get sucked into.
I've never read anything by this author before but I really enjoy how she writes and I'm very much looking forward to continuing with this story when the final book is released in March.
~ Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this title ~
This cover is gorgeous! After reading the first two chapters of "Havenfall," I can officially say that I'm hooked to the storyline. I love the darkness and mystery surrounding the town of Haven. Sara Holland does a fantastic job of crafting a new and unique world. I'm really loving Taya's character and her snarky comments. I can't wait to read the whole thing; I'm sure this book will exceed my expectations!

Thank you, NetGalley, Bloomsbury YA, and Sara Holland, for allowing me to read this excerpt in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.
Sara Holland's writing is rich, enticing and goes down smooth like whiskey. The world she has built seems really interesting and I'm intrigued to continue past this excerpt. I'm looking forward to finishing what seems to be an excellent book.
I received this as an eARC to read for free in exchange for my honest review. Thank you toNetGalley and Bloomsbury YA for giving me access.
The start of this excerpt gives us a little background knowledge that helps us understand more of the story. Then we are given the first two chapters that are just enough to get me HOOKED! I'm eagerly waiting for March so I can find out what happens next!
This excerpt is a charming fantasy story that will leave you wanting more. The word building and characters are amazing and really sucks you into the story. I was left wanting more!
OK so I just read the extract for this on NetGalley and I loved it. The only problem now is that I need more! I loved the premise, I loved the start of the story that I read in the generous extract, and I can't wait to see where it goes. Also there's a bit of a queer vibe too and I am here for it.
I got to read a sneak peak of the first few chapters and I am already hooked! I can't wait until HAVENFALL comes out.
So far, I've really enjoyed the world-building and the concept that Earth has no magic, but it has portals to other magical worlds. I especially loved that it's set in the Rocky Mountains near where I am from. The voice is already very strong and the mystery was just beginning to unfold. I'm prepared to be dazzled.
After this excerpt I am already super stoked for this book!!
It feels so dark and tricky, but also magical and id really like to dive in head first right now!
