Carol Wyer doesn't disappoint again! This I believe is book 5 of the DI Natalie Ward series and probably the best yet. Natalie's family life is in disarray, she's planning on separating from her husband without upsetting her children. Meanwhile, 14 year old Isabella is murdered at a pop concert in broad daylight. When Natalie and her team visit the scene she immediately notices the similarities to a previous case known as the Blossom Twins. But that case was solved and the culprit was jailed? Is it a copycat or was the wrong man convicted? Natalie is under pressure to solve this case as quickly as possible by a new boss who isn't very supportive. This case will take Natalie to the edge and beyond, a great read. Thank you Netgalley.
What can I say about this series that I haven't said before? Its one of my favorites and as soon as I see it available on Netgalley I don't hesitate to request them. Carol Wyer is a fantastic writer and I have never been disappointed by her.
This one begins with a murder of a teenage girl, but the positioning of her reminds Natalie of one of her first cases, aptly named The Blossom Twins. With all of her books, this one grabs you right away and never lets up. Natalie is juggling quite a few things in the book, however. With one of her team members on vacation, her new boss recruits a new detective & one that Natalie has had problems with in the past, she is dealing with demons that maybe she didn't get the original Blossom Twins killer, and she has a very personal problem going on at home. By the end, I was shocked.....by a couple of turns. I absolutely can not wait for book 6!!
*Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book opens with Natalie coming to grips with her decision to divorce her husband, after his last episode of gambling and lying. Since she is the only one with gainful employment, she will need to move out of their home and no longer be living with her children. When her team catches a new murder, the similarities to the hardest case of Natalie's early days of being a detective cause her to worry that they have either a copycat killer or the return of a serial killer that was thought to have died in jail. Wrestling with her personal life and the need to tell the kids about the divorce, Natalie and her team now are working two cases. In addition, she is struggling with her new supervisor and his insistence on adding a new detective to her team -- a man also involved in the previous case and now aiming for Nat's job. When her own daughter disappears, just as the team is narrowing in on a suspect, Natalie and her team up their efforts. The ending is totally unexpected and worth the read.
Carol Wyer has done it again. DI Natalie Ward is brought vividly and realistically back to life in The Blossom Twins, which is book 5 in this fabulous series.
A teenage girl goes missing at an open air concert and when her body is discovered DI Natalie Ward and her team are assigned the case.
But for Natalie, something about the body triggers a memory about a past investigation, a case that had haunted her and changed her forever, however that case had been solved and the perpetrator caught.
This novel has it all, some great characters, especially Love the character of Natalie as we catch up with her both professionally and personally, there are plenty of twists and turns, a few red herrings thrown in for good measure and another excellent plot and storyline. But Carol, what an emotional ending you gave us !!!
Can't wait to find out what happens next !!!
Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for an ARC for my honest review.
Ive read all of this series and have to say that this 5th instalment is, unbelievably, better than those that have gone before.
A young girls body is discovered at a pop concert.
Then twins go missing only to turn up murdered, their bodies staged with a worrying similarity to an old case Natalie had worked on in Manchester. She has to face the possibility that the wrong person was imprisoned at the time or could there be an evil copycat at work.
Added to this she has a new boss , whom she is finding difficult and who has insisted bringing in a colleague she had issues with in the past. Not to mention the ongoing problems in her personal life which are finally coming to a head and Natalie is in for a rocky ride.
When the killer starts to correspond with Natalie the race is on to uncover his identity and finally bring a halt to his killing spree.
This is a fast moving, shocking and gripping read and I loved it!
Thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for the chnce to read this as an ARC in return for my honest opinion
I always look forward to a new Detective Natalie Ward novel from Carol Wyer knowing I’ll be in for a cracking read, and this latest instalment was no exception. In fact I found The Blossom Twins impossible to put down.
Thirteen year old twins, Ivy and Erin Westmore are camping out in their garden for the night. Yet when their mother goes to wake them the next day she discovers their tent is empty. DI Ward’s team are put in the case but they soon find their bodies on nearby marshland covered with petals. This case bears striking resemblance to one Natalie worked on previously. Is the killer back? Did she help convict the wrong man before? Or is this a copycat?
This book is gritty and fast paced and I found it hard to put down. It’s brilliantly written and absolutely compelling.
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the chance to review.
Well I really don’t know where to start with this book. It was soooo good, but I wanted to make it last, and couldn’t. I stayed reading until the early hours. Now I’m disappointed that I’ve finished it! It has to be the best one of the series, and I’m not going to spoil it, readers can get the information from the book, and just enjoy it. I was totally shocked when the truth comes out of who had committed the crimes.
I’m not saying anything more, except READ IT, it’s brilliant. My thanks to Carol, Bookouture and Netgalley for the ARC. Personally I can’t wait for the next one.
#TheBlossomTwins #NetGalley Oh Wow, wow, wow! Just when I think this series cant get any better, Carol Wyer delivers a stomper of a book. Having just finished The Sleepover, I skipped my usual way of working through books in the order that I downloaded them to go straight to this one and OMG I could not put this down and read it in one day. This book has everything you want from a crime thriller and more besides. I don't want give anything away with the plot but the ending has left me totally shocked and excited about the next installment in this series in equal measures. Brilliant!! I would give this book 10 stars if I could!!
A gripping, tense read. A bit of a rollercoaster of emotions and an unexpected ending. It's part of a series but can easily be read without having read the others. Great character depiction and a thrilling book from start to finish.
Oh wow, where do you start with your thoughts on a book like this? I mean it's everything you want from a gritty thrilling read with an ending I didn't see coming, but where do you start with out giving anything away.
Carol Wyer, I love and hate you in equal measures at the moment.
WOW
Wow
Wow
Firstly how did we get to book 5 so soon, this author is a writing machine. Her books come out quite frequently which I love, but better still the quality of the story line is never compromised or rushed.
From the word go, in this book you are dragged right into the pages and soon become engrossed in the book that nothing else around you registers. Its one of the best books yet in this series and it's going to take some beating. I hope Carol Wyer has realised what she has done, although I have no doubt what so ever that she'll smash this one with the next book, it seems to be her way now.
This series feels like its kind of just starting, you'd never realise you were 5 books in, getting to know characters still and what makes them tick.
When a young girl goes missing at a concert and her body is found it's a race against time for the team to find out what has happened and who has done this, or why they have done it. It's a race to prevent any more children going missing. This case has all the signs of a previous case that Natalie worked, It can't be the same killer as that one is locked up, isn't he?
Along with the craziness of trying to tackle a major case, Natalie still has issues in her home life, for those that have read the previous books, you'll know about this. For those that haven't read previous books then it's pretty much that Natalie's home life needs sorting out, and sorting out soon. How do you tackle you domestic issues while heading up a major murder case?
It's decision time for Natalie, time for her to get things into perspective and do what is right for herself.
The ending of this book left me shocked and sat with my mouth open looking rather daft in a busy place. I can't wait to see where the author goes next, again wow, wow, wow.. First class goose bumpy read.
I'm shocked! I'm stunned! I was looking forward to reading this newest installment in the DI Natalie Ward series. It grabs you from the beginning and takes you on a fast and furious ride all the way to the breathtaking end!
Wow! Carol Wyer - how do you top this?
I’ve read all 5 in the Natalie Ward series and I enjoyed them all but I have to say I think this is the best one yet. This time Natalie is working on a case which could be linked to an old case that left her devastated. Coping with that and the collapse of her marriage, it’s all going on. Absolutely brilliant read with a shocking ending. Highly recommended.
I haven’t read any of Carol Wyer’s previous books, but I really enjoyed this one!
I don’t want to give anything away as this book is skilfully written to ensure the pieces fit together slowly, so I’ll keep this brief!
I liked the characters in this book and found them both plausible and likeable. It’s a well paced read which kept me guessing right to the end.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for my copy of this book.
This is book five in the Detective Natalie Ward series.
A teenage girl is found murdered. The murder scene reminds Natalie of a previous murder of twin girls. The race is on for Natalie and her team to catch the murderer. It's not helped by a temporary detective being added to her team, one shes had previous unpleasant dealings with! Natalie is also trying to deal with personal problems at home.
Absolutely brilliant as always from Carol Wyer!!
Yet another outstanding book by Carol Wyer - but now with the little things that prevented me giving full marks to previous books totally ironed out!
One of the things I love about this series is the familiarity you feel when you start reading. Like the team just picked up a day after we finished the last book.
When a young girl is found murdered after a concert, Natalie senses some similarities between this and a solved case from Manchester.
Bring in a douchebag colleague she doesn’t like, who starts causing trouble, the complexities of her broken marriage and another murder. Top that off with some red herrings and you have yourself an excellent read.
Heartbreaking ending - but by far my favourite yet! Cannot wait to see what’s next for the whole team!
This is book five starring a detective Natalie Ward and her team. The detective has her own personal problems dealing with the breakdown of her family and a potential new relationship.
Natalie dealt with the death of children years before and now they feel they have a copycat killer or is it? The killer starts to correspond with Natalie and it’s then a battle to find the killer before he strikes again.
I love any books by Carol Wyer and this was no exception. It was a late night as I was desperate to reach the conclusion and it did not disappoint. The story was told in alternating chapters between the current case and the historical account of someone trying to save their family.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book gave me goosebumps. What a story and boy what an outcome. Heartbreaking. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the author certainly kept me guessing. Can't wait to read more from this author. I don't like to put in parts of the book in my reviews as I feel it sometimes spoils it for others. A must must read.
On my word! I've just finished reading this book and I can not believe it. Carol Wyer has left me shocked and saddened. How do you write these amazing books time after time? I can't wait for the next book to find out what happens to Natalie. She is a strong woman and a brilliant police officer but can she come back after this blow! I would give this book more stars if I could and I will highly recommend it.
Thanks to NetGalley and the author for the opportunity to read this book.
Wow this is a terrifyingly brutal, fast moving and gripping thriller that left my jaw dropping in awe.
I think this is one of the best books I have read this year.
Thank you Net Galley for an advanced copy of this book.
I love, love Carol Wyer and was impatiently waiting for her next title.
This book tells the continuing story of DI Natalie Ward and her team, but a new reader could pick up this title without reading the others and be catapulted into the story.
I loved the flashbacks early on into Natalie's first case - this one kept me up late (I read it in one night!)
I highly recommend all of Carol Wyer's books. Can't wait for the next!
