Thank you, Netgalley ffor sending me a digital ARC, in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
This book is the third in a series, but I did not read the first two before I read this book. It stood up well as a stand-alone novel, but I do plan on reading the first two because I enjoyed this one so much.
I loved the strong female lead who is a single mom who's working and going to law school. Her 4-year daughter is a hoot, especially when she teaches the male lead how to operate the washing machine. I enjoyed the "supporting cast" too. The story moved along quickly and I really didn't want to put it down.
Overall, a fun book with a very satisfying ending.
This was better than I thought it was going to be but I didn't realize this was part of a series, so I didn't understand what some of the characters were talking about. If I put this aside, it was still highly relatable and plausible.
I enjoyed the setting of an island in the Carribean for this book. It's getting cold where I live and it was nice to imagine being in the Caribbean. I thought the characters were well developed.
Brianna is a motivated, hard working, single mother who has her eyes on the prize, becoming a lawyer. She was a fierce lady, and I loved her.
Leopold, is a rich, kid in a man body, who had been sent to live on the same island that his brother does. He has caused a ruckus with his father and is being threatened to be cut off if he doesnt follow a contract to be sober, have a paid working job, get his own place, and not be with women. This is quite the hard test for him.
I must say, I didnt enjoy his character, even when he was being a good guy. His phrases like "righto" and calling his, um, male anatomy "leopole" was just not for me. I found myself wincing in the multiple times both of those phrases were used.
He rents a garden shed from Brianna. They get close. She finds out about his contract. They say mean things to one another. They... eventually Express their real feelings... it was a very very lengthy process.
This was the third in a series. The author did a fantastic job in allowing me to feel brand new to the story without too much back story over powering.
The inevitable romance did eventually happen. The bow was tied up nicely in the end. Aside from the annoying phrases, I liked the read.
I received this from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review. I really enjoyed this story. Two people who thought the worst of themselves made something beautiful. They learned so much of love and growing up. Melanie writes such entertaining books and I look forward to reading more.
This was unexpectedly adorable. I hesitated to get into this because struggling, working, single mum and student falling in love with a man-child just didn't make me eager to pick up. When done poorly, she comes off like a shrew (Why can't you take life seriously?!) and he comes off like a man-whore (Life's a party!). Er, that was a bit of the case, but each character was able to laugh about him/herself. They were ultimately lovely together and you're rooting for them to get together.
This was fun rom-com that offered a nice escape. I actually didn't mind the world building this author did with a made-up Caribbean island community and Avonia as a far-off stuffy old "European" country.
I received a copy of this arc from NetGalley for an honest review. I didn't get very far into this book as the main character is so pretentious it was painful to continue. I'm sure there is a great life lesson coming up, but it read so tacky.
I really wish I had known that this was the third in a series. Thankfully it's a series where the characters are reoccurring but the stories don't necessarily need to be read in order, but I still would've liked to have read the others first.
The first chapter with Leo was really hard to get through because he starts out as such a garbage human being and I really just wanted to punch him in his entitled face. Bree's chapter was the exact opposite and restored my faith in the book. I love a hate to love romance and this one was fantastic. I loved that our MC is a single mother with a full-time job who is also a full-time student preparing to take the bar exam. Her family is absolutely the worst which brought another layer of realness to the story. Unless you're in Bree's situation, you can't understand it. Her family doesn't care to and that's sadly the case for a lot of women in her position.
The characters are extremely well fleshed out and are the strongest part. The supporting characters are their own people and help move the novel forward, not just decorations in the background. Nor do any of them fit completely into a generic trope or roll in a novel.
Trust me you'll want to add this to your TBR immediately. If the other two are half as good as this one, I'm sure you'll want to start with them.
*I received a complimentary copy of this book from Indigo Group through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.*
I found this book to be an entertaining 3rd book in the series! While I liked the first and second books better, I found it fun to get to know Leo more and I continue to enjoy Summers' writing style. I find these books to get great "lighter" reads for the pool or beach vacation!
What can I say about The Suite Life by Melanie Summers... The description of the book had me wanting to jump into this story right away. I'll admit I hadn't heard of this author before but I'm sure glad I did. Although the story starts off a tad slow on the first few pages I assure you it picks up speed soon after.
The chemistry between our leads Leopold Davenport and Brianna Lewis is immediate and soon sparks start to fly between these two. Leo is carelessly going thru life knowing his antics will be funded by his parents until a line is crossed and he finds himself with no money and in desperate need of a job. Brianna is a little to upright hard working single mom who quickly learns that life isn't just about getting the right career and paying the bills. When these two end up working together you find yourself rooting for them at every turn of the page.
I can't wait to read more from this author! I will definitely be checking out the rest of the books in this series. 4/5 Stars
This was a fun and sunny read. I could not stand Leo at first, that changed near the end. Overall a nice beach read (hence the cover :-))
This was a fun, fairly quick read.. Whilst I didn’t take to Brianna and Leo as much as I did to Libby/Harrison and Emma/ Pierce in books 1 and 2 of the series I still enjoyed their story and how their relationship progressed. Worth a read if you’re looking for a funny, romance in a lovely paradise location.
While The Suite Life was a fun read with an ultimately satisfying ending, it was a little too slow and predictable for me. I enjoyed the writing and the characters, but I just felt like some of the details really weighed the book down.
I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.
I found this story to be very slow to start. I struggled through the first half of the book, which is where I felt it finally got going. Unfortunately, I’m a bit of a perfectionist, and I can ignore some editing issues, there were too many, and I found myself looking for the errors instead of getting involved in the story. I actually stopped reading about 75%. Hopefully, these issues are fixed and others will enjoy this book.
Melanie Summers can write an easy, romance that is heart warming and fun! The Suite Life is in a series, but (I hadn't read the others) can be read as a standalone. For fans of a slow burn romance, this one is for you! I'm ready to read more of her books immediately.
I have not read the other two books in the “ Paradise Bay” series but “The Suite Life” can be read as a standalone in my opinion. I was able to keep up with everything with no issues whatsoever. Now onto the review!
“The Suite Life” was my first read by author Melanie Summers. I have to say that it was absolutely hilarious! Some of the characters were unlikeable but by the time I reached the end, I did like them a bit more. The story itself captivated me and did not let up until the very last page. I will definitely be checking out more from this author in the future as well as reading the other two books in this series as well.

This was my first book by this author, It was pretty enjoyable. I would give this book a 3.5 star rating! It was a pretty Quick and easy read!
The final book in Summers Paradise Bay series is here and it's full of the snarky, witty, and hilarious hijinks I have come to expect from her. The Suite Life is Leo and Brianna's story, and at the beginning, I wasn't sure I was going to like either of them, much less root for them to get over themselves. Through the magic of good storytelling and some much-needed character development for playboy and lothario, Leo I eventually came around.
Brianna is so wrapped up in being successful while working full-time, raising her daughter, and studying for the bar I was worried she was going to miss what was right in front of her. Summers tells a delightful romance and just in time for summer's end.
Warning: this is the sort of novel that will immediately make you want to pack up and move to an island in the Caribbean. Preferably where there is a nice resort and a Leo (short for Leopold of all things) Davenport. So, yes. I did like this novel. Funny, sweet and a times a little sad. I will clarify and say that at some points I wasn't sure if I loved it. I've now read all of Melanie Summers' books in the Paradise Bay series and if I'm being honest - I liked the first one: The Honeymooner the best.
Characters:
A quick side note: I loved the way that all of the characters and couples from the other novels made their way into this one. Of course Leo, is the younger (and very irresponsible) brother of Pierce Davenport from the 2nd novel, so we saw plenty of Emma and Pierce with a few from the first novel as well.
Bree made for a pretty good heroine. A single mother, tough, badass lawyer in training, working hard at her job, she presented quite an admirable character. Her relationships with her daughter and her aunt provided lots of lovely moments and quite a few laughs as well.
Leo - charming and working to become more responsible. He made a great hero, although in the beginning he did come across as a bit one dimensional and could have been fleshed out further in my opinion. Having said that, he was sweet and did care for Bree (the ending!!!!!) which I did love.
Storyline, Plotting and Writing:
The Suite Life presented a pretty good storyline which moved at a very reasonable pace. I did love that it was kind of a bit of a role reversal/gender swap - in that, in several stories out there, it's the spoiled rich girl being forced out of her comfort zone to grow and become tougher. As for the writing - Melanie Summers always has a particular tone of writing which is open and quite funny to be honest. The novel is written in alternating dual perspectives from Leo and Bree, which I always enjoy. She does break the fourth wall occasionally in a conversational tone, which, if I'm being honest, I am a little unsure about. But that's simply a minor little complaint.
Overall:
Overall, I did enjoy this novel. It's pretty darned funny at points and I almost guarantee you will love Leo and Bree by the end of it. Was it my favourite novel of the year? Probably not, but it is a fantastic one to read perhaps by the side of the pool with an icy drink in hand.
Note: I was very generously gifted an ARC of this novel by the publisher and the author in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
Having loved The Crown Jewels Romantic Comedy Series and then gone on to read the first two books in the Paradise Bay series, I couldn't resist getting stuck straight into The Suite Life. Like the other books I've mentioned, this is a very funny and light-hearted romance and once I started it, I just had to read the whole thing in one day. It's a good job that it was the weekend and I had two fewer children to worry about. With only the teenager and the pre-teen at home and with nothing but rain outside the window, I was more than happy to get lost in this caribeen set novel.
Melanie Summers seems to be very good at writing slightly spoilt male characters who are a little bit lost in the world that they are in. While the idea of a 'poor little rich boy' might not sound that enticing, there is something about the way that Leo appears in the book which just redeems him.
I loved the development of Leo's character as he accepted that the life he has been living possibly isn't the most fulfilling and that being rich might not be all that it's cracked up to be. For Brianna, it was more about learning to live and relax a bit and accepting that her highly driven way perhaps wasn't for everyone.
This is a comedy and yes it did make me chuckle away to myself. That's not to say that it has no depth. There's certainly far more here than laughter. It left me with a smile on my face, as well as just a little sadness that I'd reached the end already. I can't wait for the next book from the Kingdom of Avonia.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book by an author I had never heard of before. I have already ordered another title from Amazon.
The story is funny and really well written in a light style. It was laugh out loud funny all the way through and the supporting characters were excellent.
The story itself doesn’t get bogged down and moves at a really good pace. You really root for the 2 main people in the story and I am really looking forward to reading other novels by her. I hope they are half as good as this one.
