Words of Hope for Women is author Carolyn Larsen’s devotional, containing 90 reminders and lessons about the hope Christians can expect when we live in accordance with God’s Word and will. Each lesson is a short paragraph and begins with an inspirational Bible verse.

Ms. Larsen covers the topics with excellent insight and relatable situations that we all face as part of life. Some examples include ‘Hope for Better Times,’ ‘Hope in Fighting Temptation’, and ‘Hope in Your Advocate – the Holy Spirit’.

There are many devotionals on the market that focus on particular issues people are facing, such as loss, anxiety, or despair. But Words of Hope for Women is an excellent choice for women who want an overall encouraging devotional for daily life. It would make a great gift for a Christian woman you love, or for yourself.

How this book affected me:
I enjoy devotionals and find the short, simple topics are a good way to start or end my day. But I was particularly impressed by the excellent insight of many of the topics in Words of Hope for Women. For example, I hadn’t read a better explanation of what ‘Ask and You Shall Receive’ means.

Who would enjoy this book:
Any Christian woman who likes devotionals would enjoy this book. Words of Hope for Women is applicable whether the reader is struggling in a valley or celebrating on a mountain top.

Carolyn’s scripture verses are skillfully illustrated with bright humor and poignant tenderness, giving you a positive perspective on life and the world around you. Instead of worrying about our distressing circumstances, we can learn to live with a sense of purpose, trusting God to guide us through to victory. No matter what each day holds, the direction our days take is ultimately shaped by our own attitude. Faced with trials and tribulations, we easily become discouraged, seeing only the pitiful past and the innumerable challenges of the present, oblivious to the hope for the future. But God, not being limited by the constraints and confines of time, works all things out for our good and His glory. God has a divine plan and a supernatural purpose for everything in our lives, and He can be trusted to keep His promises. I highly recommend this inspiring book to all who wish to have a rich, devotional faith and a personal relationship with the King of Kings.
