Widow's Island Book 4
This novella is book 4 in the series by Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot. When a town drunk get killed in a hit and run, FBI Special Agent Cate Wilde , recuperating on the island, expects the case will be quickly solved but evidence quickly services that the victim was involved in another crime that has been cold for 20 years. Cate's best friend, Samantha, went missing at fourteen, leaving nothing behind bu a jacket and an island full of unanswered questions. Her disappearance has haunted Cate and she might be able to finally find closure but not everything is as it seems. As Cate unravels what happened that day and with the help of her best friend Tessa, she discovers that the community of Widow's Island is full of secrets.
This was a fast-paced read and the complementary writing styles of Leigh and Elliot makes for a winning series. A few twists and turns and likeable characters keeps the reader engaged until the end. Hope there will be a few more books in this series as I fee there are more stories to tell. Thank you to the publisher, authors and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Secrets, betrayal, suspense, and murder all factor into this fast paced terrific read by Kendra Elliot. Plus as if you need a reason to read her amazing books, you finally find out the fate of Samantha in this! You will love this book!
This is the second book by Kendra Elliot, but fourth in the series Widows Island. A crossover series of novellas with author Melinda Leigh, I really enjoy this series lead Cate and her search for the truth to what happened to her best friend over twenty yea s ago. This is not a standalone and should not be read as such, but it a must read in my opinion.
Quick, short read. Widows Island is a great new series. I think the best way to read these novellas are to ge the lot of them and read them all together, it was a better enjoyment and i could understand it alot better
This is the fourth book in the series, but I found it easy to read as a stand-alone book with the great writing and storytelling.
FBI agent Cate is back on Widow's island after recovering from a traumatic gunshot wound and still having some PTSD issues but she wants to keep investigating the case of her childhood friend Samantha who went missing many, many years ago when a necklace of Samantha turns up in a barn on the island. Is this a new clue for the agent or just an old piece of evidence that was overlooked in previous investigations? Cate will do everything in her power along with her old time friend Tess who is a deputy on the island to bring justice for their long lost friend that they will never forget or stop trying to find out what happened to sweet Samantha.
Kendra Elliot is a terrific writer and this was a very fast and enjoyable read. I will definitely want to read more in the series and other books by this author. The book, though short was a very satisfying story!
I want to thank the publisher Montlake Publishing and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this very good crime, mystery story!
I recommend to other readers who enjoy a shorter crime story and have given a rating of 3 1/2 Unsettling 🌟🌟🌟❇
This is the fourth novella in a series and if this is a new series for you, as it was for me, it would be beneficial to read the previous ones as I felt there was information and history that I was missing out on. There is an element of romance but it is a very minor story line. The majority of this story is the investigation of a new and old mystery that results in an interesting twist. An entertaining fast paced read.
Bred in the Bone is a well written suspense. I enjoyed the fast paced plot and characters. I look forward to reading more books in this series. My thanks to the publisher for my advance ebook. This is my unbiased review.
This is the fourth book in the Widow's Island series and just like the 3 before it - I LOVED IT!!! If Melinda and Kendra write them, I will read them. I'm not generally fan of novellas because they are over before they start, but I love this series.
Great characters, great plot, great setting, quick paced, page turner, non stop action, and long awaited answers!!!

WOW! This one was packed full of surprises from beginning to end and I have to say I may have shed a tear or two. So grab some tissues and some quality uninterrupted time because you are not going to want to put this one down.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Bred In The Bone is the 4th instalment in the Widow Island series and what a cracking read it is !!!!
It starts with a hit and run accident on thd island and it leads FBI agent Cate on a trail to an old case that will lead to the conclusion of the mystery of her childhood friend Samantha’s disappearance 20 years previously. I absolutely loved this instalment and the twists blew my mind and I read it in one sitting. Im delighted there are 2 more books in the series but hate having to wait !!!!
Thank you to NetGalley and Kendra Elliot for the ARC of Bred In The Bone my review is honest and unbiased.
I found myself so captivated with the storyline I couldn’t put it down until the last page. I loved the twists and turns this story took. Not a spoiler but I was glad some questions were answered from the previous three books. I find the writing, characters and story line so engaging and interesting that I have picked up other book from Kendra Elliot.
It feels like I’ve waited forever for this book. I have to say it was a pleasant surprise and kept me on my toes!
I received a digital advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I didn't love this book... I really thought I was going to. I enjoyed the other novella's in this series, but this one did not sit well with me. I thought it was lacking in depth and structure. The plot could have been really good but I felt the story jumped all over the place and it really just left me confused.
I do want to thank you for the opportunity to review this title. Even though it wasn't my cup of tea, it was not a terrible book at all. I can see why some people would absolutely love it... but for me it was not a winner.
I always know I’m in for a treat with a new release from Kendra Elliott. When I received an invitation from the publisher, via Net-Galley, I eagerly agreed to read and review Bred in the Bone. My opinions are my own and are not influenced in any way.
As with all of Kendra Elliot’s books, the characters are real and flawed, the plot is intriguing and there’s plenty of emotions running high. One of the things I enjoy most about her books is the suspenseful scenes. Her action scenes are graphic and send chills through me. She has a way of keeping me on the edge of my seat from the first page until the last.
At last, Cate has a good lead on her best friend’s disappearance twenty years ago. While Cate isn’t completely recovered from her ordeal a few months ago, she goes after these new clues determined to ignore her fear when approaching a door of a possible criminal.
I loved her tenacity, and that she will not give up until she learns what happened to Samantha. Her romance with the good doctor has progressed and is on solid footing. Will she return to her life as an FBI agent, or will she give it up for Henry?
If you enjoy romantic thrillers with amazing characters, and so much action your heart is pumping fast, then you will love Bred in the Bone. This one has a great ending that I enjoyed a great deal. Widow’s Island is a great series, and I look forward to reading the next one in this series. Happy reading!
I loved the first in the series but this one seem to be missing something. While the ending will have readers happy. Readers have to admit the constant dead bodies that seem to arrive on a small island is starting to add up.
The mystery has a happy ending and reader will find redemption in the lost and missing.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of Kendra Elliot Bred In the Bone.
Cate and Tessa once again have a present day mystery to solve as well as continue to look into the disappearance of their friend 20 years ago. This time the present day mystery helps solve the old mystery. Another great suspense novella by Kendra Elliot. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy to read and review.
This is Widow's Island Novella 4 and in it we join Tessa Black the county deputy and FBI agent Cate Wilde as they search for the driver who hit and killed a man on a rural Island road. Best friends since childhood they were currently working off the books together to find the third member of their childhood trio of best friends. Samantha, who dissapeared when she was a teenager and they never found her or her body. The loss was never resolved for Tessa and Cate. Now another death takes their time away and it's getting to be pretty weird all the deaths on their island in the last year. Thier priority is to find the heartless person who left a man to die on a lonely road. They then can get back to searching for answers to questions that haunted them for years, what happened to Samantha.
Enjoyable read and you won't want to miss this one especially if you've read the previous books!
Thank you Kendra Elliott, MontLake Romance and NetGalley for allowing me to read this novella this is my personal opinion I know you should read it!
Smart and suspenseful! Never a dull moment with Kendra Elliot! Loved every bit of this story and loving the shorter novellas! Great job as usual!
The first three books in this series we're good, but just weren't quite enough for me. This was was perfect. I felt like the author finally let me read without explaining as much backstory. I also loved the continuation of this series as I finally got some answers. The beat part was that the answers weren't what I was expecting. The suspense was fantastic and I loved how it ended.
I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.
Just WOW ! The truth of a twenty year disappearance is finally discovered !! The chilling storyline is frighteningly believable with secrets and betrayal ! So masterfully done that you won't forget !!! I highly recommend ! Thanks to Netgalley and Montlake Romance for the opportunity to read and review this book ! #Netgalley #MontlakeRomance # BredInTheBone
