Twist and turns and an outcome you will not see coming. Bred in Bone is the fourth novella in the Widow’s Island, a suspenseful read with an intriguing storyline and well developed characters. I really enjoyed this story and recommend you add this book and series to your read list.

I received an ARC copy of this book from the Publisher via Netgalley and voluntarily leaving my review.

FBI Agent Cate is call when a hit and run killed Brad the town drunk who wasn't a great guy who like to piss people off.

When Cate and Tessa realize he the son of the man Jon Hill who they want to interview for the disappearance of their best friend Samantha they have to tread likely because it would seems that Brad might be connected to Samantha.

As Cate and Tessa starts to investigate they learns their are secrets that some people don't want out and it's up to them to unravel everything before someone else gets hurt.

This book is from Cate pov but you do get to see the other characters. I like her romance with Henry I like it because it didn't over power the book and to me it like I'm reading a episode of cop show. I don't know it remind me of tv show Rizzoli and Isles.

A hit-and-run accident leaves a man dead and clues to a long unsolved mystery are revealed.

FBI Agent Cate Wilde is back on Widow's Island on medical leave as she heals from a bullet wound and tries to get over the events that killed her partner and left her with anxiety attacks. She and her childhood best friend Deputy Tessa Black are trying to solve the disappearance of their friend Samantha who disappeared without a trace when she was fourteen.

Finding the driver of the hit-and-run car seems to solve the case of Samantha's disappearance but not in a happy way. It seems to lead to closure but tracking down the man who was supposed to have accidentally killed Samantha leads to a somewhat happier result.

I liked that Cate had to make some life decisions about her future. I liked her relationship with her friend Tessa and her new boyfriend who is the island doctor. The story was action-packed and filled with tension.

Cate Wilde is on medical leave from the FBI and is back on Widow's Island where she grew up. While helping the local deputy, and her childhood best friend Tessa, investigate a hit-and-run, they find clues to help solve a 20-year-old disappearance of another friend.

I enjoyed this one! I'm loving getting to know the town and all of the characters more and more through the series. I love Cate and Tessa's relationship and their determination to find their friend Samantha. I really loved the whole story in this one, but I do feel like it was a bit rushed towards the end. I feel like I could have used a little bit more to the ending. But overall, I really enjoyed this story and can't wait to see what comes next in this series!

.Widow’s..Island.# 4
BRED TO THE BONE ...Kendra Elliott
Driver hitting someone on a bicycle, no skid marks,, nor did the person stop.
The. Victim was not well liked, the name brings back an unsolved, and a personal case for Cate and Tessa. A necklace given to them, saying three sisters, with one missing for twenty years ago. That third piece was just found,. Questions would have wait again, while they solved this murder. Cate on leave, decision of going back to Bellingham, with the FBI, in which she worked hard for. While the romance with Henry was meaning more each day, as well as loving the island. A plot that uncovers secrets long hidden, healing, family ties. Choices of how they are to move forward from murder. Great series, you love the characters and the close connection they have. The meaning of the island and living on it. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion by Net Galley and Montlake Publisher.

Bred in the Bone is the fourth Widow's Island novella and should be read in order with the rest of the series or you'll miss out on some key information. Cate and Tessa have been looking for their childhood best friend for twenty years. A local hit and run opens the case back up as the friends finally uncover what happened to Samantha so long ago. Fast paced and compact like all novellas, the story unfolds quickly and reaches its satisfying conclusion just as quickly. The story is somewhat predictable but the suspense builds and the ending is solid for a quick, easy afternoon read. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.

This fourth book in the Widow's Island novella series is a great murder mystery with a nice touch of romance mixed in. Investigation of a hit and run death on the island, leads FBI agent Cate Wilde and Detective Tessa Black to uncover some shocking discoveries that start to unravel the mystery of what happened to their childhood friend Samantha.
This is a delightful murder mystery that has surprising twists, suspense, intrigue and some touching romance. I love how real the characters seem, from Cate’s post traumatic anxiety, to her dilemma over what to do about her job and her blossoming feelings for Dr Henry. Her problems and reactions always seem authentic and realistic. This novella could be read as a stand-alone but you would get far more depth and enjoyment if you read the books in order. The duel writers, Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliott, do an excellent job of creating a seamless flow between the novellas in the series, while at the same time producing well written and researched stories. Their character development and intriguing plots have created gripping stories that always leave the reader wanting more.
I received an early copy of this book from NetGalley & Montlake Romance under no obligation to review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

Bred in the Bone is part 4 in the series that takes place on remote Pacific Northwest island. And boy is it a doozy.

In the third book Cate and Tessa find a huge clue in the cold case of their missing friend. That along with a deadly hit and run really breaks open the case.

A shocking confession leads Cate and Tessa in a whole new direction with a shocking conclusion.

Lots of changes by the end of this book especially for Cate. I see there are still 2 more books to come in the series and curious with how this one ended what they will be about.

This is the 4th book set on Widow’s Island. FBI agent Cate Wilde is on leave following a shooting. She is running back to her childhood and the Island of Widow’s where everyone knows their neighbours. With her friend local County Deputy Tessa they are re-investigating the disappearance of their friend Samantha 20 years ago. Brad Gill’s hit and run was to cause repercussions right back to the mainland. Even though this is my first book of Widow’s Island you connect with the characters immediately and are willing them to solve this 20 year old mystery still hanging over them all.
This will make you revisit the previous stories connected to Widow’s Island.
I was given an ARC of this book by Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Was glad to return to Widows. This time Cates story. Cate and Tessa are at the scene of a hit and run. They are waiting for Henry, Cate's boyfriend, who is the doctor/ coroner. Secondary story in previous book connects to the story in this one had me on the tenderhooks hoping. Engaging characters, hate waiting till end of next year to read.

I love the novella's by Kendra Elliot and Megan Leigh. I love the setting in the Pacific Northwest, and It is well described. If you ever get a chance to visit Blaine WA, you should go. It is similar to the fictional town in the book. This is a great series, so great that you wish the novels were full length, so you could spend more time with the characters, but despite the shortness the story is robust and comes full circle.

Kendra Elliot does what she does best and delivers a well-rounded police procedural with a romantic edge. This is the fourth book in the Widow’s Island Novella series and while it can be read as a stand-alone, it would serve the reader best to read as part of the series. Elliot delivers a steady plot pace with well-crafted characters and a picturesque setting. Those readers expecting a long, drawn out narrative will be disappointed. Elliot succinctly wraps up an ongoing plot arc while handing over a little shock and awe. Nice, quick read.4 stars

BRED IN THE BONE is the fourth book in Melinda Leigh's engaging "Widow's Island" series. The book is pretty much a straight light police procedural with subtle hints of romance. I really liked following the two main characters and seeing them work together as well as apart. If anything this story left me wanting more, which is good because I can dig into the series from the beginning to get the pieces I missed.

I liked the mystery but it felt very by the book, which was fine, but I typically enjoy a bit more character development. I think this felt short to me because this is a novella, so the character development happens in each piece, as opposed to throughout one full length book. After looking at the series list, I see that all the books appear to be novellas.

I am very excited to have finished this book and will go back to catch up in the first three books in the series to see how everything fits together. This does stand alone well and works to introduce the reader to the world without needing to start from the beginning. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had been reading from the start, but I really liked the main characters and how the case was worked.

This is the fourth instalment in the Widow’s Island series and I think the best book of them all.
While still out on medical leave, FBI special agent Cate Wilde decides to lend a hand and help out her friend Deputy Tessa Black with what they think is a simple hit and run incident, which turns out to be anything but. The hit and run victim is involved with the disappearance of their best friend Samantha over twenty years before.
I don’t want to say too much more about the plot and spoil the story for anyone. I thought Cate and Tessa would solve the mystery of the disappearance of their friend Sam, but I must admit I didn’t see that ending coming!
4 stars from me. A quick romantic suspense novella to enjoy in one sitting.

The Widow's Island series has definitely kept me rapt and intrigued, and it’s a relief that the mystery surrounding Samantha’s disappearance has finally been resolved. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series, but I did find this novella extremely short and felt the story was slightly rushed, as there was definitely potential to expand on most recent mystery and leave less gaps. I’m now anxious to know what the final outcome will be.

(4.5)Knock me over, I did not see that coming, what a twist. Tessa is looking into a hit run. Cate is assisting and following clues on Samantha. It starts with the hit and run. It''s so hard to avoid spoilers Murder, mystery, family's and a huge shock. My lips are sealed. Thank you Montlake, NetGalley and Kendra Ellot. All thoughts and opinions are my own and were unsolicited.

Bred in the Bone is Book 4 of the Widow's Island series. This is a very interesting series in that Kendra Elliot focuses her stories with Cate as the main focus and Melinda Leigh writes with Tessa as the main character. Love the unique twist of these 2 author's collaborations.

I do recommend reading all the stories in this series as the back story of their missing friend Samantha finally comes to an end. Great to finally get some closure.

Bred in Bone is the fourth book in the Widow's Island series. What seems like a pretty cut and dry hit and run has a surprising connection to the disappearance of Tessa and Cate's childhood friend twenty-years ago. Just when it seems everything is explained a surprising trip to the mainland changes everything Tessa and Cate thought they knew. This fast paced installment by Kendra Elliott captivated me with it's many unexpected twists and turns.

Fourth book in the Widow's novella series. These books alternate authors and they work well together. Each book has it's own mystery, plus the disappearance of Samantha many years ago is in each book. I like that her story was concluded in Bred in Bone. I hope there will be more stories in this series.

Thank you to netgalley, the authors Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh, and the publisher for the arc and opportunity to give my honest opion.

A case with personal connections to Tess and Cate finally has an important break. So many questions get answered, lots of excitement and hope for the future. Really love this small island with close connections and the fastest rumor mill ever. I hate having to wait a year for the next novellas but it's always exciting to read. I received an early copy and wrote my review voluntarily. This team works so well together, I hope they never run out of ideas.
