It just did not work for me. it was drawning on and wasn`t as inspiring or interesting as i thought it would be when i read the blurb. The characters were boring.

This is a unique story that has an unpredictable plot. It starts off on a familiar note but after that it's a rollercoaster ride. The novel is well written and it's hard to put down. The characters are likeable and relatable. And I liked the character growth towards the end of the book. However, one thing I wish the author could have done differently is not to try and tie up all loose ends in a single chapter. I would have liked an open ending with room for more character growth in the sequel.

Kay Bratt is amazing. She won me over with Wish Me Home. True to Me is equally brilliant. Such a heartfelt journey.

A lovely story of Quinn trying to find her roots in Maui after finding out that her mother had lied to her all her life about who her father was. A book that draws you in from the first page, especially as Hawaii is on my bucket list, and you are really keen to follow Quinn's path

How can you not fall in love with Kay and her amazing story telling! I am always swept away by the first page and never want her books to end. Breathtaking and full of secrets but in the end Quinn will find that she just might have found what she was looking for in Maui 🥰

This book was a fun read! Like a summer day beach novel sorta feel, ya know? Basically Quinn finds out that her dad isn't really her dad when her mom tells her just before she passes. So the adventure begins: She's off to Maui to spread her mother's ashes, and ends up learning quite a bit about her family roots along the way. There were ups n downs n all arounds but I won't spoil anything for you, go and read it for yourself 😉 4 stars all the way

Thank you Netgalley for giving me the PDF so that I can share my opinions with y'all 💛

A must read!!!

This book pulled me in right from the beginning. Quinn's journey was so intriguing that each page had me wanting to know more. I felt as if I knew her and the rest of the people she ventured upon at home and in Hawaii on a personal level. So many emotions came out of me during her story: curiosity, tears of sadness, tears of joy, anger at times, excitement, the list goes on.
I guarantee you will not want to put this book down!! I can't recommend it enough! Kay Bratt does not disappoint! I can't wait to read her next book on my list!

This is a beautifully written story about a young woman's search for her family and finding her true self as well. Quinn is a successful business woman with a fiance and in general has her life on the right track - or that was her perception before her mother's deathbed confession. She spent 30 years resenting her absentee father - only for her mother to confess that he isn't her biological father. She sets off on a journey for the truth - in Maui, where her mother wants her ashes scattered. Along this journey, not only will she find answers about her family but also she will find her true self.
This was a beautifully written book that had many life lessons along the way. My first by Kay Bratt but certainly not my last!
Thanks to Kay Bratt, Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC.

This book was wonderful and I found it hard to put down. I was on a bit of an emotional roller coaster but it was a ride I didn't want to end.. I appreciated how the book was never judgmental. This was a new author to me and now one that I will follow.

Kay Bratt always gives an excellent read. This story takes place in Hawaii, and one can just imagine being there by the word pictures she paints! I love her characters, their development and story line.

True to Me didn't fully live up to my expectations - I did not finish the book. I found myself pretty confused between some of the characters that Quinn meets after she travels to Hawaii when her mother passes away. Hawaii was a beautiful setting for the book and that's partially what made me want to read it, but it was not enough to keep me invested enough to finish. I DNF'd at 30%.

Wow! This was such a powerful novel! There was just so much to this story. It was a very deep, emotional story. This book is about family and friendships. It is about the truth and secrets. Quinn while searching for information about her family will discover so much and find herself at the same time. I was extremely touched by this novel and it is now my favorite by Kay Bratt.

This first book in the series was an enjoyable novel with a little mystery and a little self-exploration. I enjoyed the introduction to Maui and imagine this would be even more enjoyable to anyone who has traveled there. I found Quinn to be an interesting character for the most part.

I always enjoy Bratt's style of writing and this was up to the usual standard i have come to expect.

Overall, a good read.

.Beautiful story of Quinn as she discovers her true self. When Quinn loses her mom, she finds out her family wasn't really who she thought it was and decides to go back to Maui to find her roots. The twists, turns and emotions Quinn experiences as she finds out about her past leads her to a new life in the present and possibly the future. Kay Bratt's description of Maui in this story almost feels like you are right there! Thank you to Netgalley for an ARC at my request. All thoughts in this review are my own.
