I'm a fan of Camille Pagan, and This Won't End Well is another delightful book. It's full of quirky characters, and Annie is a lovable curmudgeon who is determined not to let new people into her life, right as she's on the brink of letting new people into her life. It's a fun and fast read.

This was the first book I read by Camille Pagán, so I was excited to dive right in. She's a local Michigan author, and I love reading references to places I know, of course. In the beginning, the main character Annie reminded me of Eleanor Oliphant. I didn't like the beginning of either book. The style of the main character telling their own whiny story came across as self-centered and annoying to me. But both characters evolve pleasantly.

I liked the unique backgrounds of the other characters, as Annie learned more about those around her. The neighbor's secret in particular was something I hadn't seen dealt with in a book previously (but I don't want to give it away before you read the book). The book was so much better than the beginning because of the development of all of the characters that Annie initially didn't bother trying to get to know. Giving those reveals away would really ruin the book for someone who hasn't read it yet.

Overall, I'd give this book 3.5 out of 5 stars and I look forward to reading more books by this author. I'd recommend this book as a nice story, especially for someone with Michigan connections.

When I pick up a Camille Pagán novel, I know two things for certain. I know that I’m going to meet some quirky and complex characters I won’t dare forget, and I know that every emotional note is going to hit that perfect sweet spot between humor and heartache. Other than that, I never know what to expect from the unpredictable journey I’m about to embark on. I just hold on tight and enjoy every second of the ride, and that’s exactly what happened with Pagán’s latest novel, This Won’t End Well.

This humorous and heartfelt novel hooked me from the very beginning, and I couldn’t put it down.
Camille Pagán has a knack for creating characters that capture the messy and confounding experience of what it means to be human, and Annie may just be her best heroine yet. From chapter one, my heart went out to her, and as every chapter peeled back a new layer of her life, I wanted nothing more than to see her find not just a happy ending, but the right happy ending for her. Every person in her life, from her absentee fiancé, Jon, to her best friend, Leesa (and her crystals), to her mother to Harper is so much more than they appear at the outset, highlighting the fact that we never really know what a person is going through until we see things through their lens. This Won’t End Well kept me guessing about what was going to happen until the very last page, but more importantly, it kept me in the throes of Annie’s emotional journey—laughing with her, crying with her, and rooting for her.

This Won’t End Well is a beautiful, heartwarming novel about compassion, sympathy, and understanding—both for others and for ourselves. If you’re looking for a madcap ride filled with humor and heart, I can’t recommend this book enough.

I'm a fan of Camille Pagan, and this book did not disappoint! It was a relatively light read (something I've been turning to a lot these days) and I loved the main character, Annie. I found myself totally wrapped up and invested in her story. Camille Pagan does it again!

This Won't End Well is light and cute. Sometimes that's all you're looking for. The main character, Annie, tells the story through journal entries (although they read like a book just told in a first person narrative, complete with quotes and actual conversations). Annie has been wrongfully fired from her job (forced to resign) and her fiance has just decided to go to Paris for a month without giving her any advance notice. He also told her not to contact him during this time.

Annie, living with her mother, decides she's done with new people, which of course means new people come into her life. Harper, her new neighbor, could become... a friend? And Mo... well he's someone that takes her to a place that has the best Mexican food and the worst margaritas.

The story follows Annie and how she decides to proceed with Jon (her fiance), Harper and Mo. It's cute, it's light and it's funny. Annie is younger than characters I've read about in Pagan's other works (she's in her mid-to-late 20's) but it doesn't detract from the story.

Camille Pagan is a favorite author in the book club I'm in, but I wasn't familiar with her until now. I really enjoyed this lighthearted read and will check out other books by this author as soon as the libraries are open again!

A witty and authentic story about a woman discovering who she really is. This was my first book by Camille Pagan and I really loved her easy down to earth storytelling. This was a touching and humorous tale about real people doing real things. Annie has recently lost her job and her fiancé has decided he needs to go off to Paris to “find himself“. *Rolls eyes* On A sidenote, why is it that women in stories always need to lose their job and their man before they can figure out what they really want out of life? Just saying it would be nice if for once a character had some major growth while she was in the middle of a healthy relationship and a successful career, just some food for thought. But I digress... SO Annie has pretty much decided all people are scum and that she no longer wants to associate with any of them. That is until Harper moves in next-door and any notices that there is something strange going on with the girl and decides to befriend her. Befriending Harper also leads her to crossing paths with Mo a PI who is investigating Harper. What follows is an entertaining story filled with some laughs, some growth, and some hard choices.

Annie was definitely a sympathetic character that I found myself rooting for.I loved watching the unlikely friendships between Annie and Harper form. Harper was an interesting character who really grew on me throughout the course of the book. Moe was a great character as well, I really liked him and thought he was a very good friend to Annie. A definite eclectic cast of characters in this book. Because of course we had ex fiancé John wanting to come back into the picture as well. I enjoyed watching Annie grow and learn, and there were parts of the story where I was holding my breath that she would make the right decision. A book that really made me think about the people we let into our lives, and why.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved reading about Annie following her heart and finding her voice! I laughed out loud a few times during this book. I enjoyed Pagan's witty writing. This is also one of the best covers that I have seen in a while. Cannot wait to read Pagan's next book!

This book is the perfect escape reading ! I love this author's intelligent well written work and am grateful to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity. This was such a fun read, very witty writing, fast paced and the main charcter is one we can all relate to.

Annie Mercer is dumped by her fiancee who then leaves for Paris. She then is fired from her job and so her life is just not going well. The next is a private investigator seen lurking around her and her home and a neighbor who appears to have been mysteriously beaten up . Annie has a complicated life and its getting more strange by the day. There is much to be entertained by here and I love how Annie faces her challenges with a bit of sarcasm amid the many trials thrown at her. A fun read and a great escape amid these uncertain times. .Very well done to the author. i look forward to the author's next work.

I have read Camille Pagan's work before and have really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, this one was a DNF for me, I couldn't get more than 25% of the way through it. It may be someone else's cup of tea but it wasn't for me. I would however definitely recommend her book "Forever is the Worst Long Time"!

This was a surprisingly funny and engaging story about a woman whose life spirals out of her control. Annie Mercer is engaged to a teacher and has a promising career as a scientist. Then she gets harassed by her boss, she quits her job, and then her fiancé calls her on his way to the airport to tell her he's going to Paris for a few weeks without her.

At first Annie seems very standoffish and comes across as a cold person. But she grows on you after a few chapters and as she reveals more of her life and her history, it's hard not to like her and relate to her. Annie finds herself throughout this novel, and at the end you're left feeling hopeful for her.

There were a few things I didn't like though. Mo, who is a new friend of Annie's, turns out to not be quite what he seems, and his backstory kind of ruined the character for me. The same goes for Harper, Annie's other new friend, who suffers from a case of Unnecessarily Tragic Backstory For A Side Character. It felt more appropriate for a main character's backstory, if that makes sense.

I enjoyed reading this book, but I sincerely doubt I'll even remember it by the end of the year. I am interested in checking out other books by this author though, and maybe I'll find a story I like more than this one.

Pagan has done it again! This Won't End Well delivers the perfect mix of quirky characters including the ever-scientific Annie, the dashing Mo, the mysterious neighbor Harper, thebelusive fiancee Jon, the motherly Viola, and of course, Moppet the dog. Readers are sure to root for Annie as she navigates her engagement to a man who has fled to Paris and finders new friends and herself along the way. Overall, this book was delightful!

Annie Mercer recently lost her job as a chemist because she was not getting along with her boss who repeatedly made unwanted advances. He had a great reputation and Annie feared to disclose his behavior to his superiors. Also, due to a non compete clause in her contract, she cannot work in a chemical-related field. With her career in shambles, Annie tries to find solace with her fiance, Jon.

Jon begins to act strangely and decides to take an impromptu trip to Paris. While away, he notifies her that he is figuring out his life and does not want her to contact him for a month. Annie is hurt and confused by her fiance’s actions and gets no replies from her emails. She begins to wonder how her life might have been if she was more resilient and took different actions in her past.
Annie decides she needs to move forward by starting a house cleaning company where she can slowly begin to repair her career and social life.

”This Won’t End Well” by Camille Pagan is about perseverance and not letting short term failures dictate your future. There is always time to reinvent yourself if you take the time to learn from your mistakes. I enjoyed the unique format of the story which included texts, emails, and diary entries.

we get a full on look at Annie - who sees life in a very specific way. Then things go belly up a bit when her fiancé tells her he's going to France while he's on the plane taking off, she has to leave her job due to circumstances that are less than pleasant all while dealing with her best friend's new found interests in crystals and how they can change your life.. (Annie, girl, I feel you on this one).

This is most definitely a feel good story as we see our lovable protagonist find her way.

This book is 2.5 stars for me, rounded up to 3.

I enjoyed the premise of the book, and it's quirky supporting characters, but the whole book it was hard to connect with the main character, Annie. Yet another book with a protagonist that is socially awkward, to the point where they are totally unrelatable. Then there is her relationship with her fiancé, which has zero spark and is hard to warm too and see why there is heartbreak.

If this book was about Harper or Mo, maybe even Leesa, which are all supporting characters, this would have been so much more interesting!

“This Won’t End Well” by Camille Pagán

A witty and intriguing novel about finding oneself, making new friends, cherishing old friends, learning what is important to oneself, following one’s heart, and knowing when something will end well and something won’t.

When Annie’s fiancé leaves for Paris and doesn’t inform her until he is almost on the plane, she begins to reassess her life with him and for herself. Along the way she ends up making two new friends without intending to do so. As no new friends is a motto Annie is very firm on living by and has based her life upon. They often don’t end well, or so she tells herself.

When she goes to Paris she realizes how happy her fiancé is there and begins to see so many things in a different light. When she returns home she faces some challenges she was not intending as well as assessing other areas of her life. When she starts following her heart she knows what she has to do...because sometimes taking a risk, making tough decisions, having new friends, listening to the older ones, and following your heart just may turn out well.

With wonderful and quirky characters, and an engaging storyline, the author has written a joyful and enjoyable novel that will have you laughing, cheering each of the characters on throughout the book, and have you learn a bit about yourself along the way.

Annie, a typical scientist, is a laugh-out-loud funny narrator in this enjoyable story about life's twists and turns. This Won't End Well is a story of friendship, love, and sticking up for yourself. I rooted for Annie throughout the story and was so happy with the ending!

I was surprised by how much I loved this book! This was my second read by Camille Pagan and I will definitely check out more of her books! I loved the character of Annie. Oftentimes book like this seem to cross the line into silly but this was a realistic, heartfelt, sweet story. Definitely recommend!

Another awesome novel by Camille Pagan. I loved the format of a mix between a journal, emails and texts. A little quirky, a little rom com and a lot of fun!

Annie is facing a turning point in her life; her fiancée just told her he is going to Paris for a month without her, she lost her job when she reported sexual harassment, and does not know what direction to go in. Living home, Annie is determined not to make new friends and is skeptical of those she already has. Annie is quirky and naive, but begins to find the right people in her life.
