I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first book. The mystery was OK but kind of predictable. However, the romance between Sharpe and Donovan was meh. There was too little communication about their feelings. I just wasn't excited for it and would have been fine had they gone their separate ways. I may read the next one.
Ack, I did not realize this was part of a series. I do not think I would be interested in this series.
I enjoyed this second book in Negger's Sharpe and Donovan series, and I am already looking forward to more. I liked the characters of Colin Donovan and Emma Sharpe every bit as much as I did in the first book. The storyline was interesting, and it kept me guessing. I have also really enjoyed several of the secondary characters in this and the first book.
Colin Donovan has been working deep undercover for the FBI, but is now back home in Maine. He meets up with Emma Sharpe, his new lover, in Heron's Cove and the case he is working on starts to connect to acquaintances of Emma's who have arrived in Maine. As events heat up and danger surfaces, Emma and Colin have to connect the threads of what is going on while trying to define where what they want from their relationship.
I think that Colin and Emma are both great characters, and I look forward to seeing what Negger has in store for them and their famlies next. She has some great settings in this series so far, and I enjoyed the suspense aspect of this book. I received this book as an ARC through Netgalley.
