Wow. Just wow. This contemporary read was like watching a drama show. It was so good! Family, secrets, lies, and love. This story hit a lot of points and was nicely done.

This was a lovely women’s fiction book, set in a quiet town of Moonglow Cove, in Texas. The town called the three Clark sisters the Moonglow Sisters when they were young. Now they’re grown up and live different lives. They reunite to see their grandmother, who is in coma.

I liked the characters a lot, the sisters all have distinct personalities. The book was well written, and I thought it was a perfect beach read. 4 stars.

I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining.

This is Lori Wilde’s women’s fiction debut. I’ve read her contemporary romances in the past and they’ve always had a very sweet undertone so I was definitely looking forward to this one. It delivered some of what I was looking for and other things I wish it would’ve developed more. It certainly is a good WF book for romance readers though.

This book centers around 3 sisters who were raised by their grandmother in a small beach town. They were extremely close until one of them was almost getting married and another sister decided to show her how bad her fiance was by kissing him and letting her see he didn’t care for her. Things backfired and the sisters went their separate ways from there and haven’t spoken. But they’re all called in to come back to town when their grandmother is diagnosed with cancer and has to undergo surgery. All those unresolved issues are still there even all those years and full lives later.

This is a good beach read, it’s a laid back book with just a touch of angst. Not too emotional, not too romantic. Maybe that could make it also a little bland. But it’s an easygoing story and sometimes I’m just in the mood for that. I liked learning about each sister’s life and they’d certainly had adventures. But I think the issues where not worked through in a way that felt believable to me.

Then we have the romance. There’s one main sister that we get to see the romance developing. I wish we could’ve seen a little more on the other two. But on the one we saw, it relied heavily on the fact that the connection between the main characters was there. There’s also a fake dating trope with them that moved so quickly from friends to I love yous. I usually enjoy when the story relies on that backstory when I read a novella. But when it’s a full length book, even in women’s fiction, I would like to see more of how that connection can go from step 1 to step 2, if that makes sense. And I think that was lacking in this book.

Overall, this was an enjoyable and pretty quick read. I loved the beach setting and the small town, the town’s friends and how they rally around them. The sense of community. It was a solid first book in this genre for Lori Wilde.

A light summer read! I enjoyed the book because it was something easy to pick up and read while I was on vacation. The storyline was cute, but overly cheesy at times. I enjoyed reading about the struggles for each of the sisters and how they drew upon each other for strength. I am the youngest of three girls and could definitely relate to various parts in the book. I am rating the book a 3 stars because it was a cute story, but predictable. I would definitely recommend the book to others if they want a nice beach read.

The Moonglow Sisters is a women’s fiction novel about three sisters that were torn apart after an incident at the oldest sister’s wedding. That incident sent the three away from their small Texas coastal town, but with their beloved grandmother ill, one returned the other two have stayed gone but with their grandmother ill, the one who raised them after their parents were killed, they return to fight the demons of their past and figure out where life takes them next.

I enjoyed watching these three very different women grow and change throughout this book while they repair their relationship and learn so much about one another. There were scenes I thoroughly enjoyed, but at other times they individually drove me crazy with their pettiness and attitudes. The thing is I didn’t feel they closeness between them that the town seemed to think they had. If was obvious they’d always had some tension between them, they didn’t agree on how each other lived their life even before the incident so I wasn’t really invested on them repairing their relationship.

I found myself much more interested in their grandmother’s story and the budding romance between the youngest sister Gia and the next door neighbor Mike, who’d loved her from afar for many years, but also encouraged her to go after her dreams.

While I liked this book at times it seemed bloated with unnecessary dialog and as I found it hard to connect with any of the characters, I don’t think I’d be interested in reading another book if this were to become a series.

Moo glow Sisters is about betrayal and forgiveness. After five years of not all being together, Gia - the youngest, who own a kite shop summons her sisters because their grandmother- who raised them wants them to come home because she has cancer and is going in for surgery. Madison - the oldest, and has her own TV show comes home first. Shelley - the middle, she has been in Costa Rica. Their grandmother has one wish and that’s for the sisters to reconcile by finishing the wedding quilt. I loved how the sisters worked through the issues with a few detours. I couldn’t put the book down. Thank you NetGalley and Harper Collins for the ARC. This is my own opinion.

How did they become The Moonglow Sisters?  It was the name given to three young girls.  Orphaned, they went to live with their Grammy and got their nickname because these sisters spent a lot of time together.


Who are they as adults?  There is Shelley who has been embracing a lifestyle of yoga and gurus and who feels like a failure. Then there is Madison.  She is ultra successful with her own lifestyle tv show and past hurts and grudges.  The third of the sisters is Gia, a peacemaker and owner of a bespoke kite shop.


The plot:  When their grandmother becomes ill, the three sisters are together again.  They will be reminded of Madison's broken wedding and will watch as another sister (unbeknownst to them) feign an engagement.  They will try to save their grandmother's bed and breakfast and pray for her recovery.  The chapters will be held together with quilting terminology as they try to get along for long enough to complete the quilt.


Verdict:  This is an easy to read women's fiction title.  I recommend it for those of you who would like a bit of escape, although not everything is fluffy in the world of these characters.

It’s a sweet story line about three sisters who come together to help out their grandmother in a really bad time. The ending is lovely. Would love a sequel.

The Moonglow Sisters is a call for families to reunite before the matriarch of the clan passes away. Using the power of a letter, a grandmother requests her three granddaughters to reunite to repair their kinship and finish the quilt. at the center of their quarrel. The frayed edges and unfinished squares represent the secrets, anger, and assumptions that the family members have allowed to fester for five years. News of terminal illness supersedes the emotional wounds and brings the family members back to their family inn. Each character has personal baggage to sift through as they work together to help their grandmother through her health crisis and to save the family’s business. Surrounded by memories and a small community filled with friends as close as family, the sisters are confronted with the past, the present, and the future. This novel portrays a realistic depiction of the angst and joys of family ties that create a mosaic of the love that binds members together, piece by piece, before time runs out.

This is a great beach read. I like this family and their story - it read like the first in a series. I'd surely read more.

The Moonglow Sisters by Lori Wilde is an interesting book which has elements of romance but more importantly is about three adult sisters coming together after a misunderstanding five years earlier. Their grandmother is undergoing brain surgery to extend her life after being diagnosed with brain cancer. One of the three lives locally, Gia, the youngest and only one capable of bringing the family back together. Gia dutifully calls her sisters: Madison and Shelley, hoping for the best. Madison shows up in all her New York TV start glory and Shelley eventually comes to the hospital needing someone to pay her $200 cab bill. Madi does. Madi is the oldest and Shelley in the middle. The vehicle to bring the sisters together is the wedding ring quilt they had been working on five years earlier when everything fell apart on Madi's wedding day. She escaped to New York where she became the star of a homemaking (think Martha Stewart) show on a network similar to HGTV. Shelly escaped to Costa Rica where she worked as a yoga teacher. They had a lot to work through, not the least of which was their personalities and the secret their grandmother had that sent their own mother fleeing so many years ago.

This was a terrific book. Most women will recognize themselves in one or more of these characters. The story included a miscarriage, a cult, a fake engagement, a lesbian couple, lies, and misunderstandings. It takes a while to work through but eventually happens as the three pull together for a common cause. I quite enjoyed the journey during which many mistakes all of us will recognize occurred. It was an enchanting trip toward wellness with a great many people introduced and assisting in the journey. I recommend it as women's fiction.

Three sisters were torn apart over a wedding day betrayal. Five years later they all end up back in Moonglow, TX after their Grammy has surgery for cancer. They discover that Grammy is about to lose the Moonglow Inn and reluctantly work together to save it and in the process their relationships.

Lori Wilde has done a wonderful job of creating this setting and story line. It made me want to go there and visit.

i am a sucker for any kind of romance book that takes place in a small town surrounding a wedding. this book is about three sisters that had a fight long ago that have now stopped speaking. they come together when their grandmother is ill and asks them to finish a wedding quilt. they have to work as sister to love, forgive, pray, and wish. they have to come back to the place that each of them have run from so that they can forgive each other as well as heal. they must try to heal the bonds so that their grandmother can get the wish that she wants before she passes a way.
sweet, summer read. if you want something to read on the beach, by the pool, or on your next vacation this is the one!

My Review:

I thoroughly relished this cleverly plotted tale and by the end of the book, I knew this oddly enticing train wreck of a family so well I could recognize them on the street. They hadn’t always been a train wreck but they had always had issues. Each of the three sisters had strikingly different personalities, insecurities, and looks. They had been a close unit until “the Incident with Raoul,” which mercilessly taunted me until the actual event was finally revealed.

The writing was unfailingly engaging, easy to follow, and absorbing with cleverly layered with unusual nuances and unexpected twists, as well as witty Easter Eggs of humor tucked in unexpected places to balance out the emotional tone. The cast with packed with a lively and quirky crew of secondary and tertiary characters who provided considerable levity and amusing scenarios, such as the wry banter provided by the geriatric Quilting Divas and a cameo appearance by a hapless beach bush urinator. I adored this book and felt pleasantly entertained while I also gleaned considerable new knowledge about quilting, love bombing, and kite flying - all valuable lessons. Flying pigs, it was the bomb-diggity!

The Moonglow Sisters is a wonderfully written stand alone book that enables the reader to constantly experience a wide gamut of emotions throughout the story. The back story of the three sisters was very sad and each of them came away from their experience in distinctly different ways. They were lied to all their young lives, lost both their parents and then found out that they had a grandmother.
It seems that the story centers around Gia, the youngest sister and her childhood friend Mike. I feel that the sisters were developed more deeply as characters. The big estrangement between the two older sisters was a focal point in the story and the story lines pivoted around that to the end. While the reason for it was revealed at the end, I felt a little let down as I think it could have been explored more in depth earlier on in the story.
The book kept hinting at so many things and it made this reader curious and kept me reading steadily and engaged throughout the story. While I loved the character of Gia (youngest sister) at times I wanted to shake her to loosen her up and was finally pleased when she displayed more fire and passion in the latter part of the story.
It was a really enjoyable read and while not a true 'romance' story, it's a great women's fiction choice.
