Jim is working in a job he hates, when he wins a car.
Zara has travelled to the UK to meet a man she met in Dubai.
Whilst driving through Liverpool, Zara crashes in to Jim’s new car.
The story started off well. But then so many events happen in the space of a short time. It just doesn’t seem to flow well.
Zara finally gets to travel back to Dubai and the story went a bit stale I thought. Eventually, she decides to head back to the UK ... as Jim decides to head out to Dubai to be with her!
I felt that the relationship started to build, but never got anywhere. I wasn’t overjoyed with the ending either. This disappointed me as I really wanted to enjoy the story of Zara and Jim.
Thanks to Net Galley for the opportunity to read, in exchange for an honest review.
Please note that this book is not for me - I have read the book, However I had to DNF and because i do not like to give negative reviews I will not review this book fully - there is no specific reason for not liking this book. I found it a struggle to read and did not enjoy trying to force myself to read this book.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused and thank you for the opportunity to read this book
Could not get into this book at all, forced myself to read 20% of it and honestly could not get any further. It was quite hard to read.
This was good, but not as great as I expected it to be. I didn't particularly like Zara and Jim together - I know 'opposites attract' and all that but they just didn't seem very well suited to each other at all. Plus, I felt like their 'romance' if you could call it that kind of came out of nowhere. Not to mention I was pretty disappointed by the lacklustre ending.
I hate being negative about a book, but I think I just had the wrong impressions of this going into it so it wasn't going to live up to what I was hoping to see. It is an easy read though, which is what I wanted and I would definitely still read Hayley Doyle in the future. There was great dialogue in this and some really funny bits, including brilliant one-liners. The story might not have been for me, but I am still hopeful for the future and looking forward to seeing what else Hayley comes up with!
This seemed to be an interesting story but I can't cope with reading pages where there is extensive use of bad language. Probably more suited to a younger age group.
Unfortunately I was unable to get in to this story and had to put it down, however, I'm sure it is a highly loved book and appreciated by the right readers.
I DNF-ed this book at around 20%. The story didn't hook me in any way and I had to power through the first part of the book to even feel comfortable giving this feedback. This one just wasn't for me.
I initially found this book a bit hard to get into but once I did, at around 20% then I really enjoyed it. The characters are well written and it’s a lovely feel good story. A great debut novel that I’d recommend.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC in return for an honest and unbiased opinion.
Hayley Doyle, you have created characters that I think I will remember for a long long time. I wish there was more pages to turn, to see what happens next.
I also loved all the descriptions of beloved Liverpool. Fantastic book, you should be proud.
While there was nothing extremely unique about this book, I still really enjoyed it. It fell into a lot of tropes, but I loved the characters and was rooting for their romance all the way. I think the book was fun and the main character witty. I will be reading more from this author.
A beautiful feel good story full of laughter and a few tears. I read this in one go, it immediately pulled me in with realistic and likeable characters. It was like reading about friends. I loved it.

Jim and Zara weren't supposed to meet, but then they do, and their lives change. It's a atypical meet cute since they both have to lose something, but it's the framework for an enjoyable rom com.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
Never Saw You Coming’ is the latest book by Hayley Doyle.
Zara Khoury believes in love – so much so that she flies from Dubai to Liverpool to be with a man she barely knows. It’s a risk, but she’s certain that uprooting her life for Nick is the new start she needs.Jim Glover is stuck. Since his Dad died, he’s put his dreams aside and stayed at home in Liverpool to care for his mum. Trapped in a dead-end job, he’s going nowhere – that is, until he gets a phone call that just might change his life. Zara and Jim aren’t supposed to meet. But then fate steps in, and when their worlds – and cars! – collide, the real journey begins.
When Zara packs up her bags for Liverpool to declare her love for the man who rescued her one night in Dubai, the last thing she expected was to find it was all the lie. Heartbroken, she heads for the next flight home with her tail between her legs only to crash into the BMW that Jim had just won and was planning to sell it to buy tickets to Florida for his mother to see her grandchildren. Now with a broken heart and car, Jim offers to take Zara for her flights with some unexpected drama along the way.
This is the perfect story to read if you’re a fan of romantic comedies, it’s quirky and fun and makes for light hearted reading during this dark time.
Both characters are lovely, but I particularly liked Jim, he’s sensitive, kind and has a lovely relationship with his mother. I felt genuine pain when his plan fell apart and was almost angry with Zara for being oblivious to what she had done. Zara’s an interesting character, she’s confident and quite self absorbed, unaware of the chaos the she leaves behind. Off the pair of them, I would wholeheartedly prefer to be stuck in a car with Jim than Zara.
The book is written wittily as the pair of them bounce of each other and their banter is quite to witness, as they discover things about each other along the way.
The story is written from the perspective of both characters giving an insight into each other’s thoughts and opinions of each other, which was a nice addition to the story.
A story about a chance and when two lives collide, ‘Never Saw You Coming’ is a fun and easy debut about love, friendship and how some things are meant to be.
You can buy ‘Never Saw You Coming’ from Amazon and will be available to buy from good bookshops
This is one of those cases where the blurb and cover are misleading, and in the end the book didn’t delivered. It’s sad because I had high hopes for this book. The cover caught my eye, the blurb sealed the deal, but when it came to the story, it was a bit of a let down.
I love seeing all these new debut authors coming to the genre, but I also feel like there is so much to work on. The book needed so much more chemistry between the characters. The story could not carry the book alone when there was nothing plausible between the couple. Also the one thing that always kills a story for me is if the characters aren’t relatable and most of all likable.
So, unfortunately this book wasn’t the right one for me.
In Hayley Doyle's Never Saw You Coming, this feel-good romantic comedy/woman's fiction novel would have you in stitches. Zara Khoury lived in Dubai most of her life and planned to track down a man she met named Nick Gregory in London and had a long-distance online relationship with him. She boarded a plane to go there to speak to him and crashed her car into Jim Glover's new car. For Jim Glover, he worked a dead-end job as a toll booth collector and won a brand new car from a radio call-in contest. He was a former lead singer of a band that got nowhere and took care of his mother since his father died. From there, it was a collision course of calamities between them when it wasn't love at first sight. When Zara tells Jim about her woes and heartbreaks during the car ride, she gets to know him a bit longer. At first, Jim just wanted to deal with the car repair and move on with his life. But when he took her and a "mop" to Nick's place, he waits for her to confront him. Then he spots her on the ground and comes to her rescue when he later learns who Nick really is. From there, he begins to care for her and plan to take her to the airport--but they did hit a couple of snags along the way. Later, they went their separate ways to start their new lives at the opposite ends of the world and discovers they care for each other before they reunite in the end and decide to give it a chance.
A compelling read that is addictive once started! Fantastically written and sweet as pie! A definite must read for fans of the genre
Love the story of Zara and Jim. Had some real laugh out loud moments. Thought the scouse humour was funny.
Probably would have liked a better ending, maybe the author has plans for a sequel.? If so I will be the first to read it
For a debut novel this was pretty good. An original story about the circumstances leading up to a chance meeting between Jim and Zara. It's a bit sad into places as you find out what has happened on their lives before they met - but other parts are laugh out loud funny. It was well written and the story drew you in slowly. Not your traditional love story though.
Beautiful, thought provoking book. I enjoyed sharing the development of the main characters relationship and was rooting for them all the way. Really well written!

I don’t really know how to start this review, because I’m really torn with this book. I love the idea behind it and the storyline had some great moments, but I also struggled with certain things.
Let’s start at the beginning. Zara lives in Dubai and flies to Liverpool fort he love of her love, only for her to have her heart broken. Jim is not in a great part of his life, he is stuck.
They litarally bump in to each other with their cars and their story begins. The go on a journey together, some of which didn’t make any sense too me. I also didn’t feel any chemistry between them. Unfortunately, I couldn’t warm to any oft he characters, so it was hard to find a connection tot he story or them. For me the depth was definitely missing.
As I already mentioned, I liked certain moments and some scenes were adorable and cute. I also liked reading from both perspectives and enjoyed the story.
